A ski on flat base is faster. The longer you keep your skis pointing down the fall line between turns the faster you will be obviously. The acceleration that comes from being on edge that sKi999 talks about is the the potentional energy you create when you load a really stiff GS ski to the max. Bending a really stiff ski to an extreme creates so much "power". A really good racer knows how to harness that power to help them accelerate, rather then just pushing them across the trail. The angulation you get, the more the ski is going to bend, the more power you store in the ski, and when you release the power coming out of the turn, you release it down the fall line...

East of paradise, it is evident that they begun cutting a trail there, and it looks as if it would feed into the bunny hill (or the end of paradise too). Im looking forward to see what that trail under the lift is like though, looks like it could be narrow and fun

You can see the beginnings of that trail to the left of paradise actually. As you're about to cross over paradise, just look to the left. However, loading from both sides would increase congestion. The fastest moving line would be ONE line and just have it super long, that's the fastest way. You can only load people as fast as the lift can move. It may make the lines look smaller, but you're still going to wait in line the same time. Blue's current method is maxing out of the lift capacity of course. I would not replace any of Blue's lifts, definatly not the ones on Main Street. Those need to remain doubles to preserve those trails for later in the day, after the east side gets skied off.

I've got some tips for you. Bevel your sides at 3 degrees, and wax your skis, because today was amazing. Toast was saying how the park was icey....I found that snow to be super grippy. You ski razors or challenge at all? because those two were amazing. I left at 11:30, but I would have stayed for a 30k+ vert day if not for the building lines, i was REALLY happy to get 23 GREAT runs in.

Unreal. Got there at 7:30 and took my first run down razors. They blew on razors and challenge, and didnt groom it (much more snow on challenge). It was REALLY nice. The rollers on Challenge were nice, added some fun to the trail, but if you skied the left side of both trails, it was silent skiing, and no need for your edge, cut out to the right side, and you had REALLY grippy snow for ripping...it truely was the best of both worlds. Switchback had a few death cookies here and there from freshly blown groomed snow, but otherwise, that too was REALLY good. Didn't do mainstreet, but the park was pretty steezy today as well. The best day since 12/9 which was an 8" powder day. I ended up with 23 amazing runs

I know the worldcup stock Atomics have sintered bases, but I don't know if even our race stock GS:11s do, but they have what atomics call "world cup base".... I think manufactorers realized snowboarders need all the help they can get Just kidding, but hopefully ski can shed some light on this again...

Extruded bases are made by melting pellets and forcing the material through a nozzle of the required size to form sheets of the desired thickness. The resulting base material is very easy to repair, but equally easy to damage. Very few boards are made with extruded bases. Maybe some of the cheap KMart type boards, etc. Sintered bases are made by slowly heating powdered polyethylene under great pressure. The result is a block (sort of like a big wheel of cheese) that is then skived (cut) to form the base material. This method costs about three times as much as producing extruded bases. Sintered bases are much higher in molecular weight; with increasing molecular weight, abrasion resistance and wax absorption is increased. While its great to have a base that won't get gouged as much, it is a lot harder to fix. Ski999, you sure our GS:11's arent sintered? They're a different base then my GS:9s....

Doug and I today at Blue almost got blown off the chair, at the last minute when we were about to unload, since the wind was at our backs going up the lift. At one point, they chairs were swinging pretty good, I thought we might hit the tower, but it wasn't too close. Whatever the wind speed was today, I don't know if I'd ride on a lift at any higher then that...

How can anyone call themselves a real skier, with mountains close by, but they have to drive 5+ hours to go skiing and they only get in 30 days a year. I'm already at 39, and conditions aren't too much better in VT

They have a 14HC pacesetting on weekends, where people are getting platinums, while we get the 22HC chick who is much better then a 22 on weeknights

averaging .43 slower is a slow down, for sure

I averaged 21.5 seconds for my first 7 runs, and 21.93 for the last 7....
