  1. There can be an insane wait sometimes the first few days...It's best to drive up in November, when you still have the performance tires on the BMW. It's alot of fun I'll be there one of the days
  2. I just bought Atomic Race 614 bindings! Yay!
  3. they cut a deal so us poor admins can get cheap tickets, and i'll be there....
  4. nice pics greg...too bad I couldn't make it, looked like fun. Ski999 will have to invite us back up when the weather gets a little cooler (hiking in 90 degree weather sucks) to take some more runs
  5. Sib, what kind of camera you using there? Nonetheless...simply amazing.
  6. yea, a 165cm GS:9 would be great. Though I think you'll have no problem with the GS:9s....they're practically a slalom ski (15m radius)
  7. haha, maybe i was But I've settled down, and am doing whats best for the site. I sorta race now, haha, we'll see how much i get into it this year...but i may have to with my fancy new skis, AND having NASTAR to practice on two times a week. they're great skis. not to put down your ability, because it's not that at all, but at your weight, I think a GS:9 would be a great ski. For me, it was a GREAT ski to help my transition from a normal skier to someone that can hang with the best of them, and look good too. The shape helps you really make nice turns, and with the adjustable bindings, you can adjust the turnshap yourself, too. At 185lbs, they're a bit too soft for me, as I can push them to their limits. However, without even demoing them, off recommendations from skidude (when he was an atomic guy) and ski999, i bought those GS:9s, and absoloutly loved them. I'm hoping to have the same love affair with my new skis. As for why I love Atomics? I've tried a decent amount of skis, and after trying Salomons, they felt like, to me, a Mercedes. Meant for cruising. I went to Atomics, and honestly, it was like driving a BMW, I felt at home. To me, both are the ultimate in what they are made for. Driving/skiing fast, and hard. It's not a name thing for me, because if Infiniti actually ever stepped up to the plate, and made something better then a BMW 3 series, I'd get it, but the BMW is still the ultimate, so I'm not brand loyal, its just the products that Atomic put out are the best, hence all the best WC racers using them, so I'll use them until something better comes out. and for me, especially this time around, the GS:11 @ 16m was the EXACT ski I was looking for. Something with a sidecut of my GS:9 (15m) with more stiffness. I fonund what I wanted at a great price.
  8. When haven't I been a nice guy? If it means promoting Atomic skis, I'm all for it, but you've never been anti-Atomic like your offspring has Greg, I only have two pairs of Atomics now (three pairs overall )....You can try the GS:9s, but I got watch you though, because you'll probably love them so much you'll leave with them (like you did with my poles!)
  9. nooo, Greg is not getting them, haha, they're gunna be my beater skis. You can try them whenever you want
  10. They are 170s. Yea, I was going to let Thinksnow try them, cause I want him to get shorter skis. But let me know your boot size ahead of time, and I'll remount them so only a twist of a screw is required for you to use them (i love atomic bindings). The skis have about 90 days on them, but they still rip... But anything for skimom
  11. just lubed/cleaned/tested the Race 412 bindings on the GS:9s....they're like brand new again!
  12. im 6 feet tall, 180 lbs, and I ski on a 170
  13. Well yea, In a turn, I was flexing / maxing my GS:9's out. They were bent as much as they could be, and really weren't giving me enough pop. I wanted something stiffer, that I could push really hard into turns, and would really snap out of the turn. The GS:9s were a great way to get me arcing nice turn, and this ski should help me progress, since it's kinda hard to max out a race stock GS:11 It'll make me tip the ski on high edge to really bend this thing....
  14. 15m I wanted something with that shape, but stiffer. The stock GS:11 is a 21m ski, which was a little too much, but Ski999 stumbled on these, and it was a great find!
  15. Here they are, my special edition, limited production, race stock 170cm Atomic GS:11 @ 16m. They're wider overall then my GS:9's as you can see.
  16. I just bought them!
  17. Is DaveyJ the new head marketing guy @ CB? I haven't talked to him since we split off, but he was a great guy to ski with! Always had a laugh with him, it would be great for him to be the head guy and be on good terms with him, since he is so unlike DaveK.
  18. If I bought a pass at CB, yes, I would.
  19. btw, to anyone that cares, i'm buying a pair of these special production atomics this weekend!
  20. It sounds like I am, doesn't it?
  21. Few things...#1. All it takes is one day of 33 degree weather to soften things up and melt the snow cyrstals, and then you have that hard, nongrippy "snow/ice" stuff. #2. Razors is in the best condition, partly because of the amazing snowmaking system on that trail. Problems with Burma? Unless you're a noob, why even go on it? #3. Paradise is usually closed in the AM because of snowmaking the night before. They blow on that trail alot, because of how big it is, and they like to blow as late into the morning as possibly, even if it does mean delaying the trail opening slightly. Again, it's a newbie trail, stick to Razors. Even if they're not snowmaking, they have some trails at Blue that take awhile to groom. You should see how long it takes to groom Challenge, let alone Razors. Anyway, don't want to argue, but I wanted to reiterate my point about the snow conditions. It's warmer at blue, and all it takes is 33 degree weather. Nobody blows snow like Blue does.
  22. I just got the email....can't wait
  23. I'm so excited. Can't you tell? BTW, the snow does feel course right in the morning, because you can't help it when it freezes and thaws overnight. It's going to get like that. When it softens up the day before, it loses its snow consistency, and when it freezes, well, it turns into ice. Can't really prevent it, unless somehow other mtns have figured out how to alter weather... You can't compare Elk to Blue in terms of snow quality, because it's truely a different climate, but Blue does a good job, for what they have. Blue is barely, if it even is considered it, in the Poconos.
