Jackson Hole stoke thread...2015-16!!!
AtomicSkier replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in General Chat
Three highlights on this trip: 1) Showing Toast around for 4 days 2) Only telling GSS to STFU up twice 3) Skiing the best run of my life. I love JH, and having Toast out here for his second trip many years removed was great. I wish more PASRs skied this awesome mountain. Even non powder days are awesome here. It's amazing how steep the groomers are here. Day 9 in the books...back to the rat race tomorrow. 16 more work days (with a trip to Germany in between) until I'm in CO for 14 days -

Unfortunately Toast had to leave this AM, but I'm really glad he made the best of his trip here. His first trip here was a whiteout for the duration, so finally getting to ski JH wall to wall in good visibility was awesome. I'm glad he had a great time. The report was for 17" when I woke up around 6am. That, combined with the fact that it's Saturday, we knew it was going to be a fucking zoo. We took the 7:15am town bus (which was 100% packed with skiers) into Teton Village, arriving around 7:45am. The tram line was surprisingly short. At worst, second civilian box. 30 minutes later, it was a 4-5 tram wait. 9am came and went with the annoucement of a delayed opening. Probably 7-8 tram wait by then. Around 9:25am Apres Vous opened up, so we knew it wasn't going to be an insane delayed opening. Then Casper, then the Gondy, then Thunder. Boom. 9:45am the entire mountain was cleared to open. We were solidly in the second tram to the top, arriving at the top around 10:15am. I'm just going to describe our first run of the day, because the rest don't really matter. Sure, we got plenty of titty deep untracked turns elsewhere on the mountain, but nothing could compare to the 4139 vertical feet of untracked nipple deep blower we skied right out the gate. There was no time to fuck around with the upper mountain lifts. We had a chance to ski a top to bottom Rendezvous Bowl to Hobacks totally untracked, and we were going to do it. It was so fucking deep, the hobacks could've been 8000 vert and they would've been effortless. Just point 'em straight and let the snow hit you in the face. It was fucking bottomless right up to the cat track 4139 feet below. Pinch me. Oh yea, it was fucking PACKED today. The Union Pass lift had like 100 people in line by the time we got down there for the second time. Just so Phillycore wouldn't hate, we even stopped for some quick action shots. Hopefully they're satisfactory. -

I have all the things required (in my room). I have crazy adhesive bandaid patches that stay on through multiple showers. I'll be fine for tomorrow. I hate leaving Toast out there as I had plenty in the tank, but 7 days in new liners has taken its toll. -

Ripped open a nasty blister on my heel, but glad Toast kept skiing and got some. That first run down Amphitheater was so nice just floating on 3" of fresh pow. 7 days in...2 to go. Snow on the way. Hopefully going to end with a bang! -

Toast loves to take pictures. And he takes some pretty good ones...he even makes me look like a decent skier when I'm hanging on. -

Today was a fun day ripping down groomers for the most part. We skied central chute into Cheyenne Bowl and a Hobacks lap (which Toast did 2x). Toast took a great picture of me railing some groomers off the Casper lift...I have some video I need to post as well. -
I'm a Billy Kaplan fan. He's worked wonders with my weird feet to achieve both performance and comfort. The ones guitar listed are all good, but Billy can't be beat. He's also the most expensive most likely.

http://opensnow.com/dailysnow/teton/post/5086 "Expect our first round of snow to drop 1-3 inches by Friday morning's report, followed by a quick uptick in activity as we head into Friday afternoon and Friday evening. Our main event will then blast off on Friday night, with very heavy snow expected through much of Saturday. Colder air will then begin to stream into the region by Saturday night, weakening snowfall rates as we head into Sunday. In total, we could be looking at 2-3 FEET for Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, and favored slopes along the Teton Range through Sunday" Stoke market is rising. -

NazarethSkier Jay will confirm it's an amazing soft pretzel. Today was awesome. I skied pretty hard today and was rewarded. The Cirque was probably the ROTD. Pretty freakin deep. It was so good had to rinse and repeat twice despite needing to take 2 lifts for every 1 cirque run. Dude from Stevens Pass was next level. Skis 75 days a year living out his van, most of them at Stevens Pass. Did a little too many drugs earlier in his life. But he wouldn't have skied as much pow as he did had we not showed him around. When Doug stopped for some hydration, I skied Paint Brush which was awesome, following by Mushroom Shoots and Hoops Gap. All great double diamond terrain off of Thunder which makes for quick laps. Hobacks were playful but a little stiff near the bottom. Our last run of the day off the top of Teton lift was super soft snow and you could charge really hard. It was previously hike to terrain that I've skied before. Despite being lift serviced it still doesn't see a lot of traffic. Just another day in paradise here in Jackson Hole. Looks like a few sunny days with the storm cycle restarting Thursday night. Looking forward to tomorrow! -

Today was the deepest 5" I've ever skied. Way under reported. Got some titty sparkles on the beard in the cirque. -

Having had some serious injuries myself, it's never fun, especially when they end a season. Heal up, get stronger, and see you as soon as possible man. Shit happens, and you come back stronger.
