  1. And the 49er has charm...the crazy dude who salts the walkways.... the texans who flock to the free breakfast at 6:59am when it opens at 7. But, nothing beats the bus. I really hope NazarethSkier Jay takes the bus with us one day just for the entertainment value.
  2. I don't mind paying for 5 star hotels for long weekend trips, but 8 nights is too long to be paying $650/night at the Four Seasons. I wouldn't mind paying more for something a little more premium than the 49er, but it's really hard to beat (especially the price). It's a chain (quality inn) so you're guaranteed some standard of service. It's clean, free wifi, free shuttle, and free "breakfast". And, the location is pretty good (right in front of a START bus stop). And the rooms are big enough for all the gear I bring with me. I like having the extra bed just to throw my gear on
  3. Razors headwall needs more snow, but tons of snow elsewhere on it (15'+ whales). Paradise looks like it's about done, and they just started to blow on challenge. Definitely more terrain opening for the weekend (probably Paradise/Razors and other connectors). Starting to feel like winter at Blue.
  4. Everybody in JH knows the 49er...and it got a pretty major overhaul for last year. Shit is fancy. Has a 2nd floor pool.
  5. last night was nice...got windy as hell out of no where right at the end of our session. They need to fix lights on main street though.

  7. what do you have against spillman farmer?
  8. Well, I don't use 22 to get to work or go to Blue...so traffic has no impact on me, anyway
  9. Let me guess, you live in East Allen Township? The development of the otherwise unusable land is great for the Lehigh Valley. If opponents of every large development project cited traffic concerns, we'd have thousands acres of fields with no additional jobs. Additional traffic further re-enforces the need to expand 22's capacity...which, they are. It's a "good" problem to have.
  10. it's an inconsequential amount of traffic when compared to the overall volume of traffic on 22. Also, the majority of their departures/arrivals are late night/early AM, not during rush hour.
  11. so...twice a day, 5 times a week?
  12. I enjoy skiing with Doug in JH or else I wouldn't do it year after year. Sure, he could shut up once in awhile, but I probably could, too. We both love to ski and JH is the place for people who love to ski.
  13. I ski as fast as is reequired to make turns on whatever radius ski I'm on. Usually, they're 24m, and I have to ski faster. When I'm on my 12.2m slalom skis, GSS always bitches how slow I am.
  14. This. A few years ago, US (always a bit of a low cost carrier compared to AA/UA/DL) decided to compete against Southwest in cities they were colocated in. US started undercutting Southwest so on paper (before figuring in baggage fees), US was cheaper by $30 or so. Get a low yearly fee US credit card, and you'd easily break even with the free checked bags. You can't compare Southwests's one way fare against a r/t on another carrier because of their pricing structure. Compare two round trips and you'll find that most legacy carrier flights are competitive with Southwest.
  15. Southwest isn't the only airline out there...and it's frequently not the cheapest (especially out of PHL).
  16. awesome mountain. rocky as fuck.
  17. JH has to have the best air service of any destination ski area. Hard to beat all their direct flights
  18. i thought he snowboarded?
  19. Some playful terrain off the new Teton Lift...
  20. that'd be something new for blue. they either open or time, or don't open on time, in my experience. again, back in the ray tuthill days, they were always open.
  21. crazy that today was the first weekend at blue all year...and they had the 6er open! Was so nice riding on that luxurious couch instead of the main street lift.
  22. For JH first timers/people who haven't been there in awhile/people who should probably goto JH...Bob Peters wrote a pretty good guide to skiing at JH...focus your time on the steeper skiing section. http://www.epicski.com/a/jackson-hole-guide-to-skiing-jackson-hole-mountain-resort
