I'll be up tomorrow morning just maybe not right at opening.

Damn dude, he told me years ago it pays for his wife's insulin but I always think he must be collecting from everywhere because alu is like 80 cents a lb. I want to throw him some loot but no way he'd take it.

I vote that they let the lower lot can guy go official and let him clean up the hill. All cans will be gone by 730 Saturday morning.

Arrived under sunny skies but winder and cold, far far less people were in the house and I only rode with Airhead and Atomics friend the Bush Agent. I might have seen C1er as he was getting on the quad but it could have been a look alike. Only the quad and new 6 running so I started quad, Razors had a Berlin wall like setup going so we went Nmdw which looked mint but had more of a firmness crunchy layer than sat-mon. Grip was still excellent but it definitely requires more angle and commitment. Challenge, Side, Coming Soon were all very good but exactly the same snow though it did look and feel like they blew in some rando spots mostly down low. Switch was good but I'm still pouring one out for my homey as without the middle air it's less interesting. Best run of the day was Raceway, mid, lower main. For unknown reasons that combo and upper main held snow without the harder layer and I ran those until I had to work. It's possible with some good solar radiation that the upper layer softens which would make it divine but hell if I know if or when that would happen. Thinking with a groom out tomorrow could be good as well.

Rode with non-vt mark and c1er. Sky was grey and crowds were moderate for a Monday but non existent compared to the weekends. I went challenge, Razors, nmdw then side and all were absolutely perfect cord to just arc the fuck out of everything. I was antsy in the pantsy to turn the throttle up to 400 and it was so nice to be able to put the throttle down without having to dodge endless Jerry's. I went nmdw again but it had started to cookie up some, this and the coming soon headwall got some light pebs once the top layer was off but the ditch was full on boxer rebellion. Super spongy scratchy snow and the right side walls are so big you think you're out in red Square. Main, Curtis where all total boner city but switch was nearly perfect. Excellent snow with nobody home and your coming out of that like Franz Klamerr at Kitzbühel. Super good morning and extra nice after all the crowds to unclog my chi. Hopefully the minor brick up tonight doesn't add a crunchy layer.

1/12/25nice snow and busy..Taco Sunday.
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
First couple were le tits, maybe even better than yesterday but it lasted all of 20 mins and my lord the crowds. It was busy by 750 which has to be a record. I thought nmdw was the best but probably anything early was excellent. The mowed down the little riser on switch which is mad disappointing but I doubt blue was thinking of my boost. The true star is today was the tacos, super props to enjo, they were banging and there is nothing like great food and shooting the shit after skiing. -
Titty sparkles everywhere, way to slut it up for the camera too

1/11…a friendly inch..very nice and busy
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I didn't see anything, if your far right at the merge at main it cuts way in and is not visible until your on top of it but that was the only thing I saw. -

Maybe it's becuase I keep going to Florida but I thought today was the best turns of the year. The first couple were damn near perfect and for a turn you could be skiing anywhere. Even the stuff below the inch had good grip. I love the high walls on the ditch, it ruins your speed but you can get so high and slutty. Ridge was in front of me I think and his tails looked quite majestic in the glimmering snow. It got super crowded fast and I'm always 50/50 on another run but I'm only asking to make 945 before it's butts to nuts at all three lifts. -
Yes, there isn't much that would compel me to Florida twice during ski season. I hope they don't suck.
-
Just do the math on the surface area alone and the real discussion is single vs dual rope. No single rope can hold a candle to dual rope.
-
Read the words it's not talking about wind loading values but protecting riders...... unless they put all the chairs in a wind tunnel it's all guessing and even then the direction and placement is way way way way more important.
-
I don't think that says what you think it says, anyways none of it matters as the primary factors are so dominant the number of times the bubble non bubble matters is minimal. Placement would be far far far more important, same thing with fences or similar. Think quincy at dv and why all the lifts at flagstaff are positioned the way they are.
-
That's fucking insane, you couldn't pay me 125 to ski there for 8hrs on Saturday but short of the covid year demand seems high.
-
It's the same root cause as everything else. In their eternal quest to suck every last penny possible out of the place they found the limit where people stop coming because the experience is shit. The real question is how much do they even care ? Skiing is a shitty business and I have to believe all the other shit they have going on makes way more money so from a business perspective replacing lifts or doing maintenance doesn't make alot of sense if you believe you don't need the skiing to bring them in the door. Blue for all it's many faults only really has skiing to make money from so the skiing at least in theory can never be that bad.
-
Now I'm hungry for nuggets...... that was a dope day
-
It seems more busy this year in general and my theory is it's in part because CB is sucking pretty hard. Today was dope, NMDW delivered excellent turns with more winter like snow. Vis was not great and I had trouble spotting the left but it was so nice to let them fly. Switch is always super fun and totally empty at least when I was on it which is just so nice after the weekend crowds. I'm headed to Miami and won't be back until this weekend but while getting a mount the main shop lady said they have already sold a stupid number of tickets for this weekend but it could be all lies and innuendo too, it is blue after all.

There is alot of boa hate out there but some of it is just bullshit. Boa is lace ups that are easier to use and slightly more comfortable. You got slop so your wasting energy in the transfer because in 4 buckle boots two aren't doing anything and one is mostly along for the ride. Lace ups or boa tries to decrease the slop and increase the points of contact giving you more effective transfer and less muscle fatigue. It's simple physics and proven over and over again in world cup, they don't temp cycle their boots afterall just becuase they hate feet. Some peeps question the durability but it's used it all kinds of other stuff without issue and I've seen lots of conventional boots ruin someone's day. I'm not an all out boot performance guy so I don't care but alot of the hate is just resistance to new things.

1/5..pretty bad..pretty crowded
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
The first two might have been better than yesterday but it fell apart fast, everything is an icy rounded pellet and there is no cohesion. Switch I thought was best once shit was skied in but I truly think ever since covid it's just generally more busy and some days it's a lost cause. Good lot session made up for it and hopefully they get some natural and it all goes back together. -
1/4/25…pretty good..pretty crowded
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Maybe as I haven't skied with everyone in a bit or because yesterday sucked I thought today was quite good. The first two down challenge you could really slut it up and set the charge level to plaid. Always good to have switch in the mix and the speed bump they built to slow you down makes an excellent little booter. I will always vote for lumpy side but if they don't do that it's nice to have a trail to catch some air. Everything else than NmDW is kinda warmup and while I never got it right today there is a nice ledge on the left that should make for a really nice left air right air combo. Personally I hope they never put features on it again but I'm probably smoking crack. Hopefully with some cold over night it sets up a bit nicer, you can feel the Glacier under the scratch and the scratch in certain parts didn't make 930. -
I'm 50/50 on the super ops or the special j ski fast-forward but damn those rossis are blindingly hot
-
Weren't you talking about new pants too? Won't be able to recognize you
-
Hit me up if you want to take some laps or are heading in the direction of blue. Holy shit homey that poles and gloves in the same season. I got mad gear for Christmas including the holy grail of pants color but also picked up these.

I 1000% agree and thought on the lift like jlaw aren't we smarter than this ? But clearly not as I was there. I think normally I'm pretty gracious in my opinions on conditions but even with all of that and taking the blue factor into account I still think they need to do a better job on lifts. It's always the same issues time and time again, like the quad tires that one year. A true og fills them with nitrogen because then it will only loose air from the shitty tires and even half ass is to come out 15mins early and inflate the tires if it's cold but it took them like seasons to figure that out.
-
I knew today would be rough but it sucked way more than even I thought it could. The snow was always going to be sugar over firm but the lift thing plus the nature of the crowd had me throwing in the towel after an hour and half. The old sixer is down as they were pumping water out of the lower house area which made the lines long to start. Also because of where they go that means alot of ass skiers on main/switch who shouldn't be off the learning hill let alone there. The snow on switch I thought was best as it was super lumpy fun but I felt like I was storming the shores on dday trying to find a way through as everyone is eating shit all around me. They are blowing directly into the sensors on the new six and it was stopping alot. Eventually around 1215 it really shit the bed and I couldn't stomach anymore and peaced out. Snow they can't do much about but the lifts are directly within their control and it doesn't take a scientist to figure out when they blow into the lift mechanicals they don't work very well. Let's just say they are legitimately the only hill that can't sort this out then at least have the lifty in the box know the override sequence so we don't always have to wait 20mins for the supervisor to press 4 buttons. Some worthy turns out there but probably my worst day at blue in a long time.
