  1. Excellent work gents, 2nd ain't nothing to sneeze at. Sorry about my poor times, will all the shit that went on yesterday and my rocket docket trip up, my head wasn't in the game. Can't beleive next week is the last, I've had 6 runs and only one did I feel ok with... LOL
  2. I don't know a ton about it, certainly interesting though. For sure my normal partner is getting his knob slobbed, regularly and no longer has time for skiing and new blood is cool. Beer has serious value at tuxs, you can trade beer for almost anything because it's heavy and there isn't much to do after dark.
  3. Sorry work today was a fucking cluster... There is no better binding than dynafits, that said they are expensive, finicky and they have a surprisingly steep learning curve. The downhill performance is just different, dudes huck meat on them but it's tough to be confident. Unless you do a lot of long tours or a lot of laps they aren't worth it. Freerides are the middle child, they do everything but nothing really well. Some people love them and you'll do a lot of work in them but you'll want to replace them the whole time. Dukes are an alpine binding, you can tour on them but unless your a beast they are more suited for slack. The ft stuff are like the freerides. Alpine wreckers work and that's the nicest thing I can say about them. Everyone I know who's bought them used them once and sold them on eBay. Plus the stack height is crazy, it's like being on stilts, you will fall. Guardian is basically a heavily revised naxo. They were hot shit with a real sweet stride but they blew up all the time at the worst moments. The guardian does not have this problem, it's a nice touring binding that is a great alternative to the much heavier duke or the venerable freeride. It does have one issue, it's not at boot iso certified, I don't remember the iso numbers but you can only use it with an alpine boot or solly wtr boots due to the afd design. Mfd all time was a great idea but it is really only for slack. A word of warning all at bindings suck in some sense, they are all a compromise. They are in no sense alpine bindings with the exception of the duke and that sucks too when your going uphill. My advice is to get a warm sleeping bag and go to tuxs, sleep over night in the lean to for two nights and see what you feel. At gear is not all that useful at tuxs, I say the same thing every year but I go in May. If somebody wants to go I'll even haul dinner. You'll need a sleeping bag and an ice axe is nice but really you just need a cold weather bag. The freerides have been well used but are free, I will get the exact price on dukes from my sister.
  4. hahaha, that's ice cold . Nothing but love for you but wishing injury on somebody ain't cool.
  5. It's early there is always hope but right now that looks about right. The two pieces of energy now phase differently and that pushes the whole dealio off the coast. Gunna be alot of snow in the ocean.......
  6. tech fittings or alpine boot ? In a month of so I got a pair of Freeride II's for free to a good home, I can get dukes, freerides 60% off, no deals on dyna's but that's a tough nut to crack.
  7. Damn dude straight stunting, your killing it this season. That night tour looks like a really great experience. To everyone buy a fucking touring rig, take the dick out of your ass and go ski for real. XC, three pin, at, whatever who fucking cares just go get some.
  8. I'd like to be, not sure yet. I got some heavy shit fuck work coming up at some point soon.
  9. Was up this afternoon, my work has no juice until Saturday. Pretty good, chunky but fast. Rode with other Johnny which is always a good time. Olympics tonight which is cool.
  10. No power at work, figured I could ski or be yelled at for trying to sex up the wife while she works from home. I got there at 1:30, tried to eat at pho to wait out the rain but it was closed, bmdi too. Fuck it we'll ride in the rain then. Rain slowed down to a mist half hour later but I did want a fanny flap. Sibhusky hook me up. Snow was a mix of an ice rink and super grip epic carving sponge cream cheese. The first 100ft of challenge was lock them up but the rest was incredible, super fast and epic grip. Really a very good day.
  11. I hate to say it but I don't think this storm tonight is gonna fly. Air coming in is too warm, Palmerton will get a bunch of snow and sleet post 1am tonight, sleet to maybe some rain before pulling out tomorrow afternoon.
  12. Yeah they used to forward DGEX runs without telling anyone DGEX always says snow and lot of it. Whatever...like I said its nerd stuff.... This morning NOGAPS ran OTS on the feb 8-10th storm, basically the Gulf of Alaska stole our fucking energy, without the energy the wave isn't as strong and the whole thing pushes east. IDK I still think the EURO comes back down the middle and somebody gets alot of snow out of this.
  13. There has been a trend of officlial sounding weather groups that post model runs that are weather porn without explanation. There are always a model that says 4000"of snow and another that says ots. There exists no correct model, just ones that are less wrong, if you don't explain it to people they think somehow a bunch of fb people somehow know it's going to snow in two weeks. It's nerd stuff that rustles my jimmies....
  14. Reading county club, lol not really interesting but it's well maintained and pretty. I got some down hill in at blue. This is going to sound dick but I don't like the fb weather shit. They post model runs without explaining to people that's a tool, nothing more, they went crazy last week with 12z euro and surprise it was gone on the next 12z run. Weather nerd rant over.
  15. 6" in reading, really heavy snow, gonna go tour soon.
  16. Tomorrow's coming in cold, expect 4-6. 8-10 feb storm is still cloudy
  17. 176
  18. I'd bet that was pretty wild, I mean a moving shit is pretty cool but then add in the scenary. Next time I'm there I'm trying for a tbar shit with the Hills are Alive song rocking....
  19. You get a BJ on the t bar ? If so that lady or man deserves a standing ovation....impressive, most impressive.
  20. That would be clutch but they would probably run somebody over, those kids ski in hordes, like a ball of people right down the center of the trail.
  21. Breck has perhaps the greatest t-bar up peak 8, Powder has a poma and a rope toe. Snowmass has a poma and Killy has a poma that on some days launches you 3-4 feet out the gate. I love surface lifts, surface lifts keep everyone but the real players out of the game. They are simple and cheap, you want to run a lift up some cool shit, throw a poma in. It keeps the numbers low and the herbs elsewhere, they can be tough to smoke on but at least the lifty gets quality entertainment. Everyone no matter how good they are has fallen out of the poma track and done the ski of shame past those going back up.
  22. Remember that feeling of the 1080's, I don't know if I've ever been so stoked on a ski and many years later I realized how bad of a ski it actually was. Still got a pair on the beater touring setup, though the first yellow version's I broke. Early park was like the first time you heard that Seattle sound after all those years of that glam rock shit. It was in your face and immediate, everyone mostly sucked, I mean the idea of park riding had only existed for like a year so there wasn't that surfing like attitude that developed later. For every 20 snowboards you maybe saw one skier, lot of peeps asked about your double tips and told you skiers can't slide rails. I want to say it was the first year the 1080's came out, Mt Snow had either the first or second year of the X-Games. Me and my cousin were trying to figure out what at the time seemed like just enormous table tops. We were from PA and had no fucking idea and spent hours casing the shit out of them. Some kid who was like 8 rolled up to us and just said you have to land on the down part and to go faster. I sent the next one and came down butter soft, I'm sure I had straight leg steeze and was rolling down the windows but I still remember that first real jump. It was like mainlining heroin and we spent the next 8 years throwing ourselves off everything with a lip. I got old and the park shit really started to hurt but the skills still come into play, I know how to take a beater, like a ohh shit everything's coming off beater and I know how to keep that upper body quiet when catching some sweet sweet air. Once a year, normally at the end in CO when it's warm I spend a few hours throwing lazy 180's and for a moment I can really feel those early days. All the completely stupid shit and how much fun it was, how you knew your were in first on something that was gonna be huge, something that would forever change skiing. It was scary and exciting, some of it was weird (Mt. Snow can crusher) but that first real jump feeling was incredible, like for 1/2 a second your were Icarus, a Greek fucking myth flying through the fucking sky.
  23. Too warm for large sections of PA, maybe from Scranton north they will see all snow...maybe.....looks more like north of Albany will hold on snow and we will get some rain. I'm honestly hoping it comes in way too far east and misses us completely. The Feb 8-10 possibility is really interesting.......
  24. I was up last night and it was pretty good. Very fast, middle of the trails was pretty slick as all the school kids rape that shit down to the bone.
