  1. I have a pair of AR5's you can have for free. One mount, though they need some ptex work for sure.
  2. Feb 4-6th ain't looking like it's going to work. Euro blew up this morning on Feb 8-10th, showing 20-30" of snow.....WOW....still really far out.
  3. That one shows up on the Euro as an Apps runner, most of the snow would be south of pa. Maybe 4-8" but that is so far out it's 90% fantasy. It could end up being nothing or a 12footer and everything in between. Feb 4-6 there is 1.17" of water on the models......looks like warming issues, though models say 50's along the coast which is the kind of setup where central/northern PA get big snows. Both of these are way to far out to say much of anything and with the NAO going positive the odds are not great. NWS is getting on board with a 4-6th storm, so far this week it's gone from a 10% to a 50% probability which is looking good. EDIT: Lately PA north of Philly has been in the snow dome, you take a unicorn and a panda and make them fuck, you shave the resulting creature and get the yeti, jersey devil and bigfoot to knit you a literal dome. It is the rarest strongest material on earth apparently because for the last two years we can't really get any storms to break it.
  4. My fav is to yell bear and shit while riding that long ass lift between the two, everyone looks around and then herbs from other states will totally tell you they saw the bear too.........back in the day good slack skiing in the crotch.....now it doesn't snow anymore apparently.
  5. At least 20......lol
  6. Don't know, I've heard conflicting things, apparently the mantra and katana are being combined into a single ski that I don't know the name of. The fourth one in from the right looks like last year's katana with colored sidewalls, I wonder if the replacement isn't finished yet so they just put last year's Katana in the display. I'm sure SIA will clear all this up.
  7. I really like their skis, Cochise is a perfect mid fat, Bodacious rips for a 30+ radius, Bonafide is just a gas at the perfect 98mm waist for EC riding. I'd love to pick up a pair but I already have those kind of skis. Spur is apparently all new, wonder what the shape and radius are like.
  8. Just for you AtomicSkier who no longer owns any Atomic skis Vwerks New Lineup Yo peep these Blizard's, they look hot
  9. If anyone doesn't want there times up you can bitch at me later. 63 Toast 32.28 (19 33.48 (20 1:05.76 (19) * 66 Jlaw 32.11 (17 34.36 (24 1:06.47 (22) * 61 MbikeMike 33.95 (24 33.65 (22 1:07.60 (24) * 67 Tavrmina Joe 37.71 (5) 38.64 (5) 1:16.35 (5) * 62 Nastar Glenn 39.64 (34 38.62 (30 1:18.26 (34) 64 AtomicSkier 1:30.00 (36 1:30.00 (36 3:00.00 (36) I had such a good time, my first run was terrible at 34 but the second run I finally started to figure out how you ski this kind of stuff. In four runs I've blown the same gate all four times and it costs me seconds and it's going to drive me crazy. LOL I'm hooked for sure, so sad we only have two more weeks.......
  10. No wait compared to the high speeds and I was mostly running Switchback
  11. Today wasn't even that crowded, was feeling lazy and didn't show up to 1030 and didn't wait really at all at the double chairs. Switchback was boner city, nightmare/dreamweaver had too many clowns for mach Looney. Tommorow night is going to be an ice box.....
  12. There is some terrain their that with another foot would be worth checking out. Today we did a little bc work.....sort of......
  13. Thanks again dude today was sweet, gonna have to get up there more often and with a touring setup on a day it snows.
  14. I'll be there around 830, hill doesn't open until 9. Should be cool, never skied there before. EDIT: Yo wait is there a Johnny rockets on campus ? Damn.....Double damn...... Schif, I got a purple helmet and lots of color, not sure what jacket I'll wear yet.....LOL
  15. Vinny, What's up dude ? That there by too much gnar for Pow Mow, that is Jackson in the big titties mtns
  16. No, the metal stuff just adheres better to metal than regular ptex. The wax deal is very interesting, in nordic skiing its often is the major factor in a race. One of the Eastern Euro teams conducted a study and found that wax shouldn't work as the molecule size is much larger than the holes in the base material UHWMWPE. That's weird because everyone knows a well waxed ski is faster. Wax/base structure is perhaps surprisingly scientific and something is going on there that isn't really all that well understood. All base material is generally the same, Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene or UHWMPE is the primary ingredient. You can add things in but that really only comes into play in super high end race skis, shit like graphite is common but pretty much anything you can think of has been tried. You take your UHWMPE pellets and then either melt them into bases or force them under high pressure, this is extruded vs sintered. Melting or extrusion makes very tough but slower bases and thus are used in low end rental fleets or snowboards. Sintered is faster but softer, this is due to the structure of the material. Think of a honeycomb, in extruded, it's 60% closed and 40% open space whereas sintered is the opposite, wax cannot enter the closed areas and thus part of the reason extruded is slower. Skis in principal work in the same way ice skates do though skates use pressure, the base generates friction and thus melts a microscopic layer of snow into water, which is what creates glide, obviously if the base material can soak in water that's bad news so generally the hole size in base material is smaller than the molecular size of water. Extruded bases can violate this rule to some extent because performance is not the goal there. Graphics can also create differences, sublimated graphics cannot work with extruded bases and die cut if done poorly can create very slow bases (OG Armada J&J had this issue) Base structure is a pattern imprinted if you will on the base material, snow in the east is generally very hard and fast and thus the default in most area shops is crosshatch or kind of like X's, the opposite is linear or lines in-line with the travel of the ski. Linear is much faster and shines out west when the snow is dry. If your anal you should fill all scratches that are above a couple thousands of an inch, really the shallower they are the easier it is to do. If they are pow skis who really cares I mean you could run a 2x4 in deep enough pow and be pretty happy. Ptex is different than UHWMPE, ptex is softer and can't hold wax, if you are somewhat skilled in base repair Tognar sells patch material, in which you cut out a section of damaged base and epoxy in a new section or material. This shit is roughly equivalent to UHWMPE and can hold wax but you need some basic skills. Ptex also comes in a variety of formats, the burn candles suck as they almost always generate carbon, Ptex string is good shit though softer than ptex ribbon. Ptex ribbon is tough shit and generally the best choice though it can be tough to work with and you can't use a base welder gun as far as I know. My best advice though remains the same, at the very least learn about how this shit works so when you go to the shop you can be a hard ass about what it is you want. If you have 100$ spare bucks buy some shit and figure out how to do it yourself, it isn't that hard, shop employees are mostly young men, young men who are bored and that means drunk and/or high if they can do this shit so can you.
  17. The quad was definitely used, I know the guy that did the actual install with Mad River Lift and the engineering company who's name I can't remember. The quad also has two piece towers which are illegal in PA with the exception of the grandfather clause.
  18. Lazy fuckers who don't know how to really tune a ski will grind those bases down rather than run ptex to fill in the medium shit. Buckman's is the king of this shit. My cousin had a pair of volkl bridges with like 2 days on them, he dry docked them at Basin and needed alot of ptex, fucker's instead of laying down some metalmelt and ptex ground those fuckers down to nearly no base. You have to be real careful with grinds, dude's around here generally don't know what they are doing. Blue's wax and edge dealio is pretty good, I tested them out last week and it was equal to what I would have done. It's pretty easy to do all this shit yourself, if you have a little $$ and time you can pick it up quick.
  19. Six pack is still down, quad was really on the fritz, only one ride where it didn't stop and most where long mechanical type shit.
  20. Sick root that is self propelled boner city
  21. Because I work with old people I had today off as well. While coming up the mtn road I ran into a situation which strikes fear in the bravest of souls. A terrible rumbling was rapidly developing in my lower intestines, a level 5 shit, uncontrollable by any force known to man, it has brought many humans to their knees. It was likely I would get fucked by layers,I had many layers to protect from the Siberia like temps and now they would be my undoing. However today my friends was not a day for shiting ones pants, I screamed out today shall not be the day I ruin my pantaloons ! Fortune was with me my friends and I successfully made it to the valley shiters. Oh the skiing was pretty fucking good, everything was soft and fast, even challenge.
  22. The lift can be anywhere from 300k to 22 million depending on the lift. Install can be cheap if it's a replacement with pads and what not. If it's virgin the total install cost can be two to three times what the lift costs. A lot of the lift companies ignored the fixed grip market until last year, if you weren't Vail and dropping 20mil they didn't care which helped create the second hand market.
  23. Both the quad and sixer were used from mad river lift company,I don't know what mtn they are from. Most non mega resorts buy chairs second hand that shit is pricey.
  24. The race lady last night said they blew a motor after the electrical issue and a replacement was getting overnighted from France. Also the winch cats hydro motor is busted that's getting sent from Germany.....passes will now be 50$ higher next year lol Rode from 3-6, it was real gud.
  25. I'm just fucking with you,I actually like your trs. I almost posted something else but figured this was better entertainment.
