  1. Jeff and I were there too, it was allright, a little uneven in spots....tonight should be better.
  2. Doug took me on a date there, place is cool and the food is very good when you consider it's like 2 dollars. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow night for more specific timing but this rain might not move in until around 11am.
  3. I have a similar Armada Ancorage bag, they are bulletproof but they never stay in one piece long. Airport throwers fucking hate them because they are very heavy so straps and what not are always getting ripped off. Additionally if your going through non ski airports they just throw it on the conveyor and some where in the process it gets jammed which rips the fabric. Whatever I just patch mine up and keep rolling, fuckers want to rip all the straps off see how easy is to lift with no straps......
  4. Curling is cool, it's the ultimate we have lots of beer and it's very cold, what the hell do we want to do all night in rural Canada sport. Biathlon is cool too, imagine if you could combine your two favorite things............. JL is really meadow skipping that pow, he's way out in front into the first bj station and he's done in record time. He's really gotta choke down that cigarette before his next stop for a bj.......
  5. Same system, we are all going by bearing sea rules. Exact timing is difficult this far out.
  6. He's an old white dude, being white you gotta be careful because you can become lame very quickly. Add in some old and I'm not surprised he doesn't get it at all. I'm more pissed that I have to hear about crazy ass Lindsey Vonn, fuck her and the drama. Her ass is at home so let's just never mention her again. Get on the Mikaela Shiffrin bandwagon, she's a ECer of sorts, BMA gonna add another medal winner to their stable.
  7. A little birdy told me our good buddy polar vortex is gonna make a reappearance around Jan 17th after which a Nor Easter appears. That's a long way out but quite promising.
  8. Pro form is tough to beat after you don't want to buy shit any other way. A friend has Scarpa Maestrale's and he likes them. I can't vouch for anything fit or performance wise but I can tell you they can take a beating. Just wear alpine's for a couple of tours and then any AT boot is a dream LOL
  9. Ut tops out pretty low and if your sleeping in SLC your even lower. I've never had it but my sister picked it up a little in telluride and I've never seen her with issues before. She lives in FLA so that's like 10 feet to 9000k in 24 hours. High enough everyone will have issues but it definitely seems you either get it or you don't.
  10. Backcountry is 800, proform was 350ish. Normally pro form is 40-60% of retail though some companies have special one timers for certain shops. My sister had a 686 dealio a few years back were you could get a full suit for like 100$, Dynastar also had a program awhile back with steeper discounts. 800-1000 dollar skis for 250 and what not. I have found the discounts are excellent but delivery can be spotty, one pair of FKS's showed up in three days the other was like three months. Thought it's possible my sister forgot about the other pair as she is related to me.
  11. LOL I probably didn't get my dicked sucked that day or something........I'm pretty relaxed but we all have our moments.
  12. Beards are awesome, gonna grow a yeard maybe but the wife isn't hot for dombledore so not sure about timing. Maybe when I'm 70 and my dick no longer works. Thread jack away
  13. Sister's pro form, haven't had them out yet, waiting on bindings but they are super light and way more comfortable than alpine boots.
  14. Good memory, my understanding is it kind of snowballed. Betsy started the ban really to deal with like 5 people and all the sudden lots of people were snowboarding before she really ever thought about it again. I think it will change, the co op will go belly up if they don't get snowmaking long term, Alta and DV will hold out for a long long time.
  15. Smoke....seriously it's the only positive of smoking, your brain adjusts your heart every time you light up so when you go somewhere high it's pretty much the same thing. Athletic young males get it the worst. Old people get it terrible, kids like everything else don't even seem to notice.
  16. There are lots of little things I don't like about Blue but I will give them credit in that their communications as of late have come early and clear. I may not like the message but at least they are communicating. Sorry about CB, that place is weird about stuff sometimes, due to the insane amount of peeps riding their I don't think they care as much about the individual customer.
  17. The funny thing is MRG was one of the first places boarders were allowed. Jake worked out of Londonderry and there was a small core of dudes riding the snurfer and later variants at MRG. A women whose name I can't remember owned MRG at the time, some snowboarders derailed the single chair and when confronted she felt they acted like assholes and put the snowboard ban in. The single chair has a very fast haul speed and she claimed they were unable to load properly Many years later it is now part of their identity, along with the no snowmaking and co-op deal. Legally the issue is 100% clear, snowboarding is not a protected class as such they can do whatever it is they want. From a business perspective it does make some sense though they aren't Deer Valley so how long this can last I don't know. The no snowmaking thing isn't going to last, eventually climate will dicatate at least a basic amount of snowmaking. IDK I don't like the idea of keeping a certain group out based on something as arbitrary as equipment however I do respect their right to do so. It's like the KKK or something, I wish they didn't exist, I hope people would not act in such a manner but I do support their right to speech and assembly.
  18. I was surprised how many people were there and how many of them were learning. Maybe 200 people, 50 of which were patrollers, nearly all of the rest were on rental equipment trying to learn on Paradise. This particular lady appeared to be a Mennonite, I used to see them at Bear alot and they were always in a dress, generally on the coldest day of the year. I would imagine they have quite the protective mat down their but I've never had the opportunity to investigate.
  19. Holy shit was it fast, nearly scary fast, like a wc course lots of speed with a little grip. Glacial in spots. Mostly newbs, one lady was in a dress..her vagina may never recover...because it was certainly mitten weather. Blowing pretty much everywhere. Temps were cold but fine, the wind however was unreal. The boot buckle gap felt like the chasm of Paris Hiltons vagina, I can now identify each stich in which the six year old in China didn't quite close on my pants. It was raw and brutal and I savored every moment.
  20. That's nuts and not conducive to a solution. We can fix nearly anything that doesn't violate fundamental laws of physics and nobody is even certain of that. Right now we don't care, the anti people are nearly all so because they don't want to care even though they know as a knowledge thing they are wrong. Their emotions are overriding the logic or knowledge part of their brain. We can fix this and most of the other things that we perceive as threatening (QFT vaccum state I believe we are fucked ) we just have to want to and we have to change the way we view certain things, primarily money. Money isn't real, it is a tool for use by humans, it can be anything we decide it is, to say something like we cannot fix X when X is a species survival thing because it's too expensive is beyond insane. Imagine trying to explain that to aliens....... Regardless post deep freeze we get a warm up and then it looks like back into the freezer.
  21. Around both poles a vortex forms every winter, basically nearly all the air moves in a west to east pattern in a giant circle around the poles. This pulls super cold air down from the upper atmosphere, the longer the vortex does it's thing the colder the air gets. GW or whatever you want to call it fucks with the jet stream and rossby waves, this introduces a wobble effect. Generally little bits of that air leak out into the mid latitudes and give us a quick blast of cold air. What happened this year is somewhat strange. Approx two weeks ago a historic sudden warming occurred in the stratosphere and this pretty much killed the polar oscillation or vortex, this heating fucks with the low that forms over the pole that all that air circulates around. Multiple vorticies then form and all this super cold air leaks out into the mid latitudes. Because the air is super cold it is also super dense which is part of the reason it doesn't mix well with the warmer mid lat air. From what climate persons can tell this years polar vortex is fucked, it probably won't heal until the usual destruction in spring which means our chances for super cold air are good. Additionally this plays into what's called a positive PNA, basically the jet stream, the large air stream moving west to east over the US and probably the biggest factor in weather, moves very high in the west but then plummets very far south over the Midwest and east coast. Generally north of the jet stream is cold and south is warm so this combined with a fucked AO and negative NAO means very good odds for cold air. This is good for snow sports certainly, this is the air that keeps the arctic cold so it's gonna work for snow and snow making. Before you get all boner city on this shit remind yourself that this is the only place you and every other thing in known existence has to live for what will likely be a very long time relative to humans. Your planet is acting very strange and thus you should be quite concerned about what the long term holds. That's certainly a downer so I'll end on this, the Bearing Sea rule has worked out pretty fucking well this year and that means a big honking Nor Easter should show up Jan 24-28 for the EC. No guarantees, this is weather after all and it could end up an Apps runner but are odds are the best in many years.
  22. Forgot about the bush, castlerock alone is worth the trip. MRG too but I think Kyle rides so that is a no go.
  23. Today was total boner city, buttery smooth and diamond dust for pa.....please god let this happen again soon.
  24. Nah got home yesterday, will be at blue tomorrow morning and then in DE for the weekend as my sister is flying up.
  25. Your not thinking of taking the Green Mtn Flyer from 30st or something.....that is a poor decision generally....... though you will have lots of time to contemplate alternatives if that is your method of transport to Rutland.
