In the process of a new touring setup. Technica Cochise Pro Light with Dynafit Mansaslu. Only bindings left, can't decide between Radical Speeds or Plum's, might not be worth the extra loot for the Plums.......gonna need new skins as the old one's are in a tree at Bennie's Brook..........

The Beast !! First and foremost enjoy the experience, Killy gets a bad rap because it was too popular for it's own good but it is a very nice mtn, from an overall perspective top 5 on the EC. You will probably realize your skills while supreme for PA are short in VT, here you run out of hill before you can get dangerously mach looney that isn't the case in VT. This isn't a knock it's just something you deal with due to geography. A UT head can't ride VT ice, it doesn't mean they aren't a good skier it just means your good at what your used to. Start your day at either Ramshead or Skye Ship, nobody remembers Skye Ship exists so it's generally the least crowded of the lodges, if you don't have a car or something start at Ramshead. Only ride Ramshead for the groomer directly under the lift and only between the hours of 8am-9am and 3pm-4pm, noobs love this side so it gets crowded with idiots. Take a lap on that groomer and then ride the connector all the way over to the K1, get a waffle, peep those views from the peak, if you have time walk up the stairs and check out life from the top. Smoke, meditate, jerk off, whatever your deep thinking thing is and then rip a couple laps on the front blacks, don't forget Julio if it's open. Skip the bullshit on the now crowded K1 and ride Superstar lift, rip big arcs on Superstar and get your steep mogul game on Ovation. Take one more ride up Superstar lift but this time ride Great Eastern all the way to the bottom, it's the best trail in the EC but there's a catch. The first time you ride it you can't maintain enough speed because of all the various junctions and turns, learn them and then take Skye Ship up and do it again. This time ride it like a downhill course, always be carving, get mach looney and take the touchdown variation at the bottom. If you run a pure speed lap with big carves on every turn you will know why it's the best on the EC. Take Skyeship up to the top and run Beartrax to Bearclaw to Skyeburst, get mach looney. Run that lift one more time and run the Stash, keep you eyes peeled because shit is everywhere in their and you might miss a cool tree bonk or whatever. Run Bear Mtn Quad and work you mogul game on Outer Limits and Devil's Fiddle. Lastly work your way back to Snowdon and ride the Snowdon Poma, that shit is the best poma in the world, mofo launches your ass and then run Bunnybuster to mousetrap back to the transfer trail to Ramshead. Drink beer, if by some miracle you find Heady praise Jebus and savor that fucker because it truly is the best IPA in the world. When your done, skip the access road shit, the access road is for suckers and herbs from NY. It is the anomaly of the state, the restaurants suck though some of the gear stores are top fucking notch. Eat at Back Behind Saloon past Skyeship, or Table 24 in Rutvegas, the Palms is pretty decent too. If you must eat on the access road go to Pepino's or something decent. Ride your ass off, bell to bell shit and eat a muffin for lunch on the lift. Soak all that shit in because your gonna need it for when you get back to PA. Enjoy VT and stay awake for the drive, VT is weird in a most wonderful way, there are 1000 towns that are cool as shit that you are gonna want to go back to some day. Signage is poor get used to it. Get pancakes and enjoy real actual maple syrup, it's light years better than that corn shit we eat. Go back to VT and ride Magic, Sucide Six, Stowe, Smuggs, Burke, MCSB and Jay. Ignore Slowkemo, Stratton and Mt. Slow. If you have a girl stay in Burlington and eat at Trattoria Delia, get the Gnocchi as it is the best in the world, do church st and then hold her hair while she gives you the bj of your life. VT is a magical place, a strange respite from the rest of EC America, savor your time there. EDIT: Fuck forgot about Little Harry's..if you have a girl and want to put it in her butt and can't do Trattoria Delia in Burlington go to Little Harry's.

I prolly posted this before and understand the hate but there are lots of places that don't even have bars. Alta is a prime example. The only scientific study of the subject found as many people fell off with the bar up as down. Children in particular tend to slip under fucking around or reaching for the bar. They are alot like seatbelts on an airplane. I dont care what you do with the bar as long as you dont drop that shit on my head. Which leads to the other ever popular fodder for ski forums helmets which is almost always self serving sanctimonius bullshit wrapped in a saftey flag. Riding the lift is like thing 20000000 on the list of shit to worry about....I mean I've seen a bunch of you fuckers drive lol

Is cold in vt single digits but not too bad. 7" yesterday but stoked to get back to blue if it snows.
-
This rain sucks hairy testicles.....
-
I believe this trip had additional considerations hence the location.

Maybe upper 20's but pitch is tough, I have a slopemeter I should bring it and find out. Tonight was good, Challenge was cookies but everything else was nice. All SEPA roads suck and will for some time, the state way under funded to among other things build lots of jails. They need to catch up to the tune of approx 9 billion dollars.

It's because 99% of the people that ride at blue can't ride for dog shit. Exclude employees, racers and people you know, now count the number of people that can actually carve that you run across in a given day. Maybe a dozen, that means 99% cannot carve really at all. So you come out of the upper lodge and it's flat and wide enough that they feel ok moving a bit, then when the crest the hump there right in front of them is a trail that appears to fall off the face of the earth for a moment. Now they only have two skills, full out, which takes no skill because it simply means gravity works and full stop, throw the skis or board sideways. It's like Yoda says, control, control you must learn control. They cannot keep the board or skis moving to control their speed so they come in like a hot potato and then jam the breaks on so they can make the turn out onto Main St in a reasonable distance. If you have any reasonable amount of skill you'd skootch the top section before the roll over and then pocono shuffle your way down before making a decent skid turn at the bottom. 98% of peeps can't even do that. Watch people ride at blue, most make a full stop at every place you can't simply go straight. Lazy they stop at the top were you turn off Tut's, then they stop at the sweeping right before it splits into lower lazy or falls, they then also stop at the split. If they go falls they will stop at the top of falls and then proceed to flail there way down 100ft before heading back up the lift for another sick run. It's hilarious in some sense but most peeps can only go straight and if you only ride at Blue you can get away with that to some extent. It would be interesting to figure out why their clientele is so fucking retarded generally. Spring Mtn is a piece of shit with generally terrible riders but even there you don't see the kind of shit you see at blue, albeit the terrain is comparatively spicy.

As of last night they can open pretty much anything they want. Razor's will take awhile to groom. Main St will probably take half a day or so. Sidewinder maybe this weekend if the groomers can put that much time in. I'll be there Sat morning and maybe Sunday if it doesn't rain.

They have a heavy base down on pretty much everything excluding Switchback, Nightmare/Dreamweaver. Considering at least 30% of their snow ends up in the woods it's amazing how much snow they've put out.
-
Nice root, XC is cool, some dudes in WV kill it on XC at Whitegrass.
-
Tonight was the best snow I've ever skied at blue. Very fast with endless grip, cold with the guns on but beautiful night with the full moon. Still no blowing on nightmare/dreamweaver or switchback. It was so good doesnt even matter paradise was even good, really fast.

LOL........... nah, Doug is good people
-
hahah, for those I will make an exception
-
Gotta apologize to Doug, turns out he may be right. Mt Holly calling in 8". Mt. Holly is the most conservative of NWS stations so........
-
Will do, they blow crap snow and very little of it so you got to wait until mother nature puts a base down for them. It's a weird place, got to know what your getting into but it's legit glade skiing for PA and they cut logging roads all over the mtn. The access road is one of the sketchiest in PA. When the Knob is on though there is nothing comparable in the state. Legit steeps and trees, a bowl of sorts and alot of soul.

Sat/Sun lower lot....I only drink shirley temple's
-
Best hill in PA and it's not even close. Gotta run out there this year.

No model is showing 12-18" for anywhere outside of Nova Scotia. GFS is saying maybe 6" and GFS has been coming in too wet, EURO is 4-8". 3-6" is a reasonable bet with some light mixing on the tail end Sunday morning. This will likely show up Friday night, build moisture until Sat morning and then snow lightly all day and night, with about 1/10th of an inch or less of sleet before it moves out. Anything over 5" requires a ratio of 15/1 or 20/1, it's too warm and 20/1 is like diamond dust, it doesn't snow diamond dust in the Mid Atlantic. If you got a 15/1 ratio and the phasing from the beach maybe then you would have enough moisture for 12" but that is highly unlikely. I would love to rip 18" of cream cheese at the Blue with ARG's but that is highly unlikely. Tuesday's storm is classic clipper Miller B, they don't bring much moisture and don't hang out at the beach long enough to gain much, it will swoop by dropping some inches in a very confined location, wrap around and oragraphic lift will help but that ain't us. Green Spine will probably be the spot. Pattern is pretty good though, cold artic air from the AO with pretty good NAO blocking, if moisture comes it's probably going to snow.

If your doing a 4 corners trip but most people don't do that. Fly into Alb, hit Taos, then run into Southern CO, hit Silverton, Wolf, Durango and Telluride. Go home out of telluride-Denver or something similar.
-
It was Taos. Mother fucker.... Taos was a hold out from a different time. As a money thing it probably had to happen, they've had $$$ issues off an on for 40 years. So fucking lame on the Kachina lift, it will probably be the Kachina lift presented by Amway or something equally as retarded. Better than Vail turning it into Northstar at Tahoe South or DV 2 but the 80 year old man in me is unhappy.
-
Sorry dude I know you didn't, I didn't mean that response to indicate you personally, just general questions to the group.
-
Why ban him ? He's cool, so somebody got pissy. Being offended is a meaningless statement, its an adult whine. Honestly, I thought JS's reply was far more juvenile and I like JS.....the ban hammer almost ensures this shit cooks at a low burn for months. If I am fucking something up my fault but TP4 can't be an alias as I met the guy.
-
Philly, this is a southern event.
-
Another SEPA storm coming in tomorrow, a band will hit 4-8". Outside of the band it drops quickly, doubt it will make the hills but Love Park should be pretty good.
