  1. Nice dude! If its the same Dave Moore that used to run Nastar at Bear, he's a good racer, very fast, kudos.
  2. Serious lulz, I'm heading up to maine next week so I'm sure a blizzard will hit pa
  3. WHAT THE MOTHER FUCK ????? I check this piece of shit at 2am and all is well, now 6 hours later the whole thing is too warm. Clearly the JL kiss of death is in full effect.....hopefully the models are wrong and its a little colder or the track changes Thurs morning might still be good but fuck the hurricane planes really fucked us over.
  4. Blue mtn peeps have a line in mind, gotta get a sic pow shot if this snow comes lets get it done
  5. Should mention there are models showing 1.5 to 1.75 qpf in six hours, if that does end up being the case be super vigilant. There could be jack shit on the ground and then 3/4" and hour later, that's when shit gets really dangerous on the roads as the idiots didn't get enough warning and are stuck out fucking things up.
  6. That's not including elevation This storm is kind coming in two parts, tues night and then wednesday. The track is all over the fucking place but what looks to happen is a mixing line from say reading to allentown. The mix will be short NOAA is saying less than an hour for Reading. What's important is the highest snow totals will come right along the mix line but with no mix. The Pocs will most likely do really well from this storm with probably very little to no mixing and some of the highest totals your going to see anywhere. Like everything this storm could move 50 miles and fuck us all but I just have a good feeling about the above. Gotta stay on this one lots of potential for fuck ups. Two scenarios have OTS and 3" of rain for the dolphins.
  7. This is why you go to Bolton
  8. Why are there no other responses ? Sick pics with people skiing get no love where as arguing bullshit gets crazy numbers of posts
  9. looks like a mix down south but should be fine further north
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7REpJlMfLo
  11. looking nice, Elk was always smart about the way they run that hill.
  12. maybe a bugaboo lulz The yellow and blue bugaboo has to be the most popular jacket in skiing history.
  13. More on tap for tuesday
  14. I did the long tour from the tower that's in Goodman's book and some other slack country stuff....never enough time though to do it 100%
  15. two events in the mix for next week, Tuesday and maybe a bomb in the fri to sat time frame.
  16. Last night was excellent, no one around and easy snow.
  17. probably 70%, the runs that are currently closed are the glades and the steep shit off the traverse. None of which I think they blow on....extrovert has guns I think but I can't think of a time they have actually blown there. The east traverse glades are boney as all hell so I can't see how 6" is going to make that difference but who knows.
  18. so much stupid bull shit in this thread
  19. Killington has lots of good skiing, it is the third highest peak in vt and has lots of slack country lines. Suicide Six is a great hill, while short its sustained steepness is tough to beat. Additionally it isn't crowded and has excellent trees. Shit even Bromely has some sweet lines back to the highway. Bolton has a six mile long 4000 vert line that's equal to alot of the stuff in the notch. The best part about little places is you don't have to fuck around with 10,000 people all trying to do the same thing.
  20. Less people at BV and there are quality steeps and trees they just aren't on the map.
  21. sick but tougher to get to than alot of other places
  22. I'm using pits as shorthand for the 1000 things that encompass avy assessment. If you can't determine the pack is coming unglued so much that the flats are dangerous well then .....lulz There are always places that can be skied safely
  23. I also don't think they groom very well, alot of stuff last night had berms forming and that's just plain newb stuff. A good groomer is like artist who understands how their mountain gets skied and grooms accordingly. Any idiot can run up and down the slope with the carpet down. I will give the dudes at Bear that, they have unique techniques due to the low snow depth and they can make quality cord like mofo's.
  24. It depends which is always the right answer unless you were out digging pits. Rain can be a stabilizing factor in circumstances with faceted snow in that the rain will sometimes create rounds. It can also be destabilizing like Glenn said. Temperature of the pack can be more important than what fell out of the sky or certainly wind, if you aren't in that area digging pits there is no way really to know.
