Awesome I have the version before that and they are without a doubt my favorite ski. You can maybe use them two or three days a year, they are soft as fuck, if you even slightly engage the edge your legs shoot off in opposite directions, the bases are slow and almost never level but god damn are they great in the deep. Nimble and fast like a Hippo, you can finally ski pow like you do in your head. With the ARG and the LP I could use only those two skis for the rest of life and be more than happy.

Amazing skis

Better Bromley than Blue
-
Actually near Brighton These two are from Powmow

I've skied that area before and with a little pruning it would be pretty epic. The best part of this deal is no new lift so if you want it your going to have to hike, which is perfect because 99% of the east is too fat and lazy to hike 100 yards.

Echo or Sol Vista all the way !!!!!! Seriously go to Loveland. If you have to do 70 figure out every way around and go real early and stay late.

N.J. Senate approves bills requiring ski helmets
Johnny Law replied to RootDKJ's topic in General Chat
I'm not that dumb to see why the above doesn't make sense on face value. That said why the fuck if I may say so do you want the gov't deciding what you can and can not do when skiing or snowboarding. I am in many ways pretty liberal and don't generally speaking dislike gov't, I also wear a helmet when skiing and have done so since I was 12ish. Still it doesn't change the fact that the mother fucking state, is deciding for people what is and what is not too dangerous to be permitted. I'm sorry but snow sports simply aren't that dangerous to warrant this kind of action. Lets not even get into who the fuck would actually be enforcing this as clearly the NJ senate is incapable of figuring out ski patrol doesn't equal skiing cops. What's next some kind of bullshit safety course before you can shred the super gnar at Mt. Creek, we all forgot a long time ago that gov't is here for our convenience not the other way around. Therefore as far as I'm concerned they can all get off our proverbial dicks and go back to doing shit that actually matters. -

More nanny state bull shit...Who are the people that support this kind of stuff ? The gov't should not be in the business of deciding what is and what isn't an appropriate level of safety in snow sports for anybody. Nobody wants kids to be hurt but the bottom line has to be you want to wear a helmet that's great if not so be it. -
There really never has been any real money is skiing at the resort level. It always has been mostly a complicated real estate scheme so until resorts figure out a way to make money from actual skiing you won't see any real terrain expansion anywhere.

What about the S7, Armada JJ/ARG or the Moment Donner Party? For my money those are the best pow skis on the market right now.
-
Rev Rev or even just some rocker will change the way you ski pow. Great pow skis

Those and the year after were nearly perfect and now they are gone..... That Mantra deal you posted sealed the deal, I really don't need another 90ish underfoot ski but its a great price and the Mantra is a good ski. Igneous makes custom boards that are wicked stiff but they are crazy loot, 100 bucks is awesome.

The bridge is Chinese crap, Volkl splits production, cheap shit gets produced in China the big boys in Europe. Mostly Germany or sometimes in the Atomic factory or the Elan factory. Bridge is a delam machine with crappy thin slow bases and the poplar core with no stiffeners means its a noodle. Lot better noodles out there. A friend I ride with has warrantied two pairs and the dude skis like Baryshnikov. Addict is too stiff and the dimensions are all wrong for an all mnt. ski. Fischer makes quality skis though so that's one up on Volkl. Old school Legend Pros (two/three years back) were one of the greatest skis ever made. Destroy Destroy Destroy lulz. They had endless power, rock solid construction, were unflappable at nearly any speed, were easy to engage and were quick edge to edge without being twitchy but they needed some leg and Dynastar softened the tips and tails and made them less torsionally stiff. Fuckers ended one of the most amazing charging skis ever made.

Both are terrible skis

Quandry, Torrey's and Shit for Brains sounds like a hell of a spring, super jealous. Any thought of doing the 14er thing ?
-
Don't do it if you want to be skiing. First, anyplace you'd want to actually work they are just going to throw you on park duty since your a noob. Second, its alot of work and not alot of skiing. Personally I don't like the idea of setting up bamboo while its waist deep.

A few years back I was riding Honeycomb when it was so windy the lift chairs were bouncing off the towers, pretty scary and it took forever because they could only jog the lift in between gusts

Dates: Easter Weekend Music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTeWoXlWaBA Location: Mt. Adams/King Ravine Every spring east coast skiers flock in droves to Mt. Washington’s Tuckerman ravine, while they bump the shit out 2 small areas they mostly ignore the surrounding areas and its much more interesting terrain. This trip was both the most difficult and most rewarding EC BC trip in the last few years. I had been to King a bunch of times before but the high water and insane snow depths made the usually quick slog stretch on for 7 hours. We had 8 separate creek crossings with only one bridge and the snow depth was so high you either negotiated parts of the trail on your hands and knees or took half the forest with you. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more tired than when I hit camp Friday night, yet 12 hours later sitting on the summit of Adams eating lunch with thoughts of scralping King Ravine all that bs went away. The weather was unreal, my sleeping bag became a mattress and we hiked everywhere in tshirts. Its not something you can explain unless you’ve been there an experienced similar things but for long moments of that day everything was as close to perfect as I’ll ever see. Memories like that just aren’t made at the resort. Shit we have to go all the way up there… Trail head accommodations were sparse so we got an alpine start, our reward for this trip is some a hole broke into the truck while we were gone and stole a bunch of our shit. This is a bridge, they are pretty sweet for crossing creeks and rivers. Somebody should forward that info on to RMC. Fun is negotiating rocky creeks with 50 pound packs while every snow bridge in the tri state area collapses. Ski boots are surprisingly water proof. The aphribach trail may be one of the most beautiful trials I’ve ever seen, normally we use shortline which is far quicker but lacks the every ¼ mile waterfalls. Our weekend accommodations were excellent, they view unrivaled in the NE. Outside our front door Getting closer Long way from home…Crag looks so small Our objective – red line is decent green line is our bootpack. For reference that’s about 1200 vert and the top of the green line, great gully is about 150 -200 ft wide up top. The steepness varies from 45 -55 degrees. Skiing is cool Back up was interesting….lots of water coming down with the temps so high Not a bad way to spend a weekend Back up top we schralped some low angle summit fields and eventually went back to camp to eat lobster and steak. The trip out sucked but in all my trips to bigger more snowy places I’m hard pressed to come up with a more perfect day than that Saturday, sometimes the EC just all out delivers.

lulz Is eldora the one with the unbelievably shitty road ?
-
Backpack, headlamp and sleeping bag are mandatory, ice axe and crampons are very rarely used as a established boot pack is almost always in place. The good thing about a group is you can split the weight, 1 dude carries stove and cooking shit, other dude carries food and all other carry beer.

With Jesus turning on the blast furnace this weekend I could see where this wouldn't be a normal tuxs year. I'll keep a look out and pull the trigger early if necessary. My normal bc partner is getting his master's so this weekend's trip is his last this year. I don't mind going by myself but its always better as a group....safety meetings are not nearly as fun when you are the only one laughing at your jokes.
-
Looks like there is some interest, maybe we should try to rally a small group. Its still kinda early for tuxs, I have some other trips in that area next two weekends. Late April/early May is usually the best time for tuxs.
