Wait wait are you the dude with the loaf sticker I was talking to on the lift ? Props on the float into the hard scrabble, some boulders in there so like I said on the lift that's impressive navigation

Managed to make opening this morning, was surprisingly empty and pretty ok. They blew a bit on the bottom of main but you could still let it go from the top of midway in giant plunging arcs with reasonable smoothness. Some hard spots around and some major sticky spots anywhere it got even kinda deep from blowing but a solid day and most excellent to see them blowing. Right shoulder of TCS was soft velvet as it was fresh blown on 2 inches but by my last run it was already mixed in pretty good with the much harder snow in the middle/left hand side. Lazy and upper main for sure, rasins had laughable amounts of production. Under the guns is maybe 6 inches and the far side is still grass. With decent temps and maybe some natural it should be decent conditions but who knows

Almost hard to imagine it's the same place....I remember the drainage after the bowl that tried real hard to buck us....we rode the bowl for like a week or two I couldn't even imagine that now

Blue needs the old school locker room like in the bottom of DV. Mad peeps are old and want to change indoors so get a decent setup.

Weekend roll call thread 1/6-1/7…
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I'll be up tomorrow morning and all weekend, I am hoping to observe some real actual snowfall -
Work has been brutal so my only chance to get out was today at 130. It was soooo nice just to stretch the legs and glide but I was surprised how decent main street was. Some skeet shots and glacial spots around but generally soft and good grip. Around 3 they turned on rasins, upper lazy, upper main and tubing. I had to peace out at 330 but they were still messing with some guns as it is hyper windy and as always it wants to go to Cherryville. Most interesting was the gentleman discussing the urinals when I went in to pee. They were all about the sensors and what not so maybe we are getting new facilities.

3 weeks you can get to CO easy and once your there it's at worst the same if not cheaper than say VT. How many times do you get this chance ? Giving your parameters I would get in the car and start heading north, you could go up 100vt and hit them all and just keep going up to Tremblant/St Anne or duck off into the real out there stuff in ME. The real answer is to follow the snow but pretty much anywhere in the NE is a days drive so I would skip the bs and start pretty far north.

Agreed, he knew the deal when he asked you to go so get the steak. As bad is it is at Blue at least we know the deal. Tahoe looks like blue and last year it was a god damn shangri-la

I like trains!!! Train thread...
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in General Chat
Rode Cinderella at Dollywood, its a coal fired narrow guage they picked up from Alaska. It was og from Baldwin in PA in 1938, loud and angry it belched cinders as it devoured the track in animal like fashion. Super dope train.... -
I saw Vail hit over 300 for a day, insanity but at least it's Vail. I've skied Northstar and it's cool, you can get a dope breakfast at the Ritz but it's a slightly bigger fancier blue.

It's not a direct number as it would depend on the water content of the blown stuff that is unknown unless you went and tested. Super wet natural can do some real good for the base but generally its still mostly air and compacts down to really small amounts. Think of making a snowball and how much you can compress it with just your hands.

Put your fucking rally caps on its I return from the land of Dolly and the cold hitched a ride. Guns started last night and they are still going, windows almost all week and minimal underdeveloped snow flakes. Shit is heating up, wax the big boards, get your purple polo out at least for one week shit looks pretty ok
-
I have not been looking as I know the weather is shit but God damn they need some cold.

They are allegedly world famous and I can see why, there has to be 80 stalls and a 100 urinals, all immaculate. I didn't even have to go but when in Rome. A bucees at kop would absolutely destroy, lv too though the amount of land they require would make most of the NE impossible.
-
You know it, I got the glow in the dark new years shirt....they sell a mascot one piece I was trying to talk my daughter into
-
Made it to the largest bucees in the world, its an unreal 75000 square feet. The beef jerkey counter alone is worth the trip but add in the dope brisket/merch and I can see how it's becoming a religion. It has 150 pumps ..... I'm not sure if it's the best or worse but I have to say i love bucees, the garlic jerky, the mascot. In the wawa sheetz discussion it's all polishing brass on the titanic, Bucees makes them look like turkey hill.

Anyone coming this morning the lower corner on the way down is a little slick with them blowing. My pos had no issue because it's slow af but if you like to give it alot of tire
-
12/21…fourth opening day..a little slick.
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
That whole intersection is dumb but they seem to love having the steepest fastest sections of the hill dump out into something dumb. Coming Soon is prett flat until the bottom pitch which dumps straight out onto their number 1 beginner trail, specifically the corner they most like to stop and scratch their balls in. Lest we forget the most interesting part of side dumps into a multi way interchange as well. Cutting trails that way is faster and cheaper to bump the count but as Killy and other found out it creates lots of crashes and now they've ripped most of them out. Ideally Burma would go the other way around the ski patrol building or they remove that issue entirely and have separate lanes back to the lifts. Even more ideally you figure out a logical base area configuration but before that you gotta figure out what to do with the base itself etc etc etc.....this also basically is the same issue with all the roads in the NE. -

Was super sweet to get back at it and not work this morning. I was impressed with how much they got out of last night, I thought pdis may need more time but it's pretty much exactly last weekend. Guns were on too long and there are some slick spots, down the gut on midway is like wet marble but lower was pretty good. Christmas week will be mad interesting unless they limit tickets -
They got them all going now, Vista should be prime Thursday....at the very least we can say they really did all they could so far
-
And now is the winter of our discontent.....weather is total shit fuck, like 7 inches of rain and more days at 60 than 30.... get your shit together December....
-
It's like someone thought you know how a monoski is like if you sucked all the joy out of skiing and made it way more sketchy....what could be even worse than that?

Saturday 12/16…another mild day. Free falling
Johnny Law replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
You guys are seriously underselling the hilariousness that is pdis, we were on the 2nd chair behind Oz and it was like a really good Norm McDonald joke, so bad it's like instantly hilarious. Free fall was rotd, up top was all super low key feel like a king and then kapow half bumps half rando piles and pleebs down in the hole. It's all loose, water down the hill skiing and the bad good is one of the best conditions at blue. Bonus points for the single file luge runout with even more pleebs down in the hole. Mad props for them having the stones to open dis and free fall no sign. All season when it's minty fresh they have that experts sign but the one time it's kinda approaching it that fucker was collecting dust in the shed. Today was perfect in it's craptacularness which is what blue is all about -
Agreed but experts only fast grass and it does go....ski it like your 17 it's 3am and your sneaking back into your parents house.
-
Gotta be a real fixer upper with some expensive fixes as that's pretty cheap even for slowkemo. The difference being the ones at Alta are cool and in big years you can ski right on to the roof of the one coming out of Catherine's.
