Not to pile on but I have to agree with you on this, good people sometimes have not so great family members. Ski even you would have to admit that even as a parent you never really have 100 percent control over what your kids do, this was Bode's cousin so his interaction could have been somewhat negliable. Bode is an incredible talent, wax or no wax he still has an incredible set of abilities that very very very few others posess

My friends have a house at Jay this year.....the warmer weather and rain last week really killed the off trail skiing. Word is with a few days and a little snow all should be well up north. Now for Killy I would imagine they would need at the very least an additional foot to make the trees really skiable thought the trails are probably fine.

Sorry dude but you kind of missed the point of the place.....its like going to MRG and complaining that the place is full of moguls.

Thats awesome man! Rip it up
-
When you come across East Wall to Stembogen look to your left, if it looks good rip it. The glades off Jack Rabbit are $$$ and there is a little cliff near the lift. I like the Ditch too. I don't remember there being ropes just a closed sign, though who knows what coverage is like there right now.

Sorry for your loss vibes +++++++++++

Nice a tour of sorts, always wanted to do like a month or two.

Perhaps that would explain the lack of cash but I didn't like Vail when compared to some of the other places in Co. That doesn't mean it sucks monkey balls just that it isn't the place for me. Deer Valley isn't Pow Mow, some people like DV and some like Pow Mow, its a matter of personal choice and with all the mountains we have everyone can find one that fits them best.

Apparently my reading comprehension sucks.......Vail is flat and filed with Gapers and when you add in the hassle and price (92 $) I can never understand why people flock to it. But they have East Vail, which is avy central right now and filled with noobs, but they have the back bowls which are an endless expanse of Juggernaught like flatness. 92$ ticket and a BILLION on real estate development and they cannot build a detachable quad at the bottom of Sun Down bowl? IDK maybe I suck but there are a ton of places in CO that just plain rock and Vail doesn't, that doesn't mean that you can't have a great day their its just the odds are better somewhere else IMHO.

Post then smoke crack

Vail ugh No offence but Vail is just ok, Abasin, Telluride, Crested and maybe Loveland should all be on that list and then maybe I would do Vail if I was old and liked to wear pink Bogners.

If they are the older p12 you can bend them, if they are the newer PX's you have to buy the larger brakes which are kinda $$$ for brakes. I know it looks like you could just bend the px's without taking apart the brake mechanism but trust me you can really F up your brakes. Here is the tutorial for the older P's, it is for P18s but I used it a bunch of times for P12s, be carefull there is alot of stuff to break. http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthr...t=brake+bending EDIT: On Second thought if you have a decent vice you may be able to bend the newer version if you heated the bend points some what. I don't know what they changed but the brakes on the PX series are far more brittle.

OMG I don't know if PASR gets aliases (sp?) but this guy is awsome !!! Seriously where is the finger mustache emoticon around here ? This is clearly POTD worthy.

I don't know.....but if I was going just to ski I might put UT first, if you hit Whistler on rain week your vacation will suck. GSS you have to bring a camera to JH, this place would rock with more pic TRs
-
AHH I shouldn't have used Imageshack my pics got effed up Just the pics
-
The hike isn't that hard, just try to remember to stay as light as possible. It is 2.2 miles but straight uphill, if you don't plan to ski the same day you hike up you got like 8 hours so I think anyone can do it.

Nothing spectacular ? where else do you find 40 degree shit with a 1000 vert to ski in May. We will be there in late April early May there are five in our group and we will have plenty of beer stop by if you around and share a brew it gets boring as hell at night.

Sick Bird!!! Nice pics and thanks for all the info, thats above and beyond. I will be out in UT starting the 26th if I see some Recons I'll give a shout.
-
Nice! get in the glades man and go right a little ways off Timbutktu=$$$, if you go to far you hit 242 so don't worry. Tear it up.
-
Ummm no, the Bird regardless of the outcome of this case will not be in any financial trouble. Additionally, the insurance premium dealio is massively exaggerated it can be rough for some resorts and alot better for others. Regardless some of the numbers you hear tossed around are straight BS, think about everything that goes into running a mountain like Snowbird and then think what that must cost. Even if you have never been there compare it to say a Bear Creek or Camelback and then multiply.

Read the article again, the ruling has nothing to do with the merits of the case, rather the legal question regarding the waiver of liability and other laws Utah has protecting resorts. My buddy knows this dude and he is a good skier. I don't like the idea of suing the resort, yet I can understand why he feels the need to try to get a payday, ten of thousands my ass, dude has had years of PT and very serious injuries. I agree with your reasoning except you don't know where the wall is. It will be difficult to describe where this is but it is on one of the birds infamous cat paths near Emma. The retaining wall was put there a long long time ago to prevent the complete erosion of the cat path. Additionally the retaining wall isn't on the actual cat path. To hit the retaining wall you would have to duck a rope and travel approximately 100 ft before you hit the wall. The current dispute revolves around the rope, he says there was a gap and he thought it was an entrance to trees, the bird says it was up and he went out of control under the rope and kept going into the wall. Ultimately, the bird will probably settle out of court. It would cost more to get this to trial than it would to settle and the dude isn't paralyzed and generally still likes skiing.
