  1. I really wanted to sleep in this morning but knowing what is coming weather wise I figured I better get at it before it's Friday and I'm wishing I went. Heavy heavy fog had socked in the top 1/2 of the hill but I was still able to spot the volverrari of root and brother though after boot up I never saw them again. Quad only but with the crappy weather maybe 1/10th the crowd of yesterday. Challenge is closed as the are working on the electrical tower so first run is razors. It's a perfect carpet just a touch softer then yesterday at least I think because until about half way down its total Stevie wonder skiing. It was hero snow that was fast and effortless but you had to be wiping the Goggles off to see any of it. Main, switch even raceway were all super super nice gorillas in the mist skiing, hyper fast effortless carving where people just appear on the horizon. Some crumbles coming through on upper razors at 1040 or so when I left but most stuff was as good as opening. I'm sure the super good snow won't be gone for long but if it has to go it was a good morning to send it off. Also I got you all these dope ass pics of how awesome the snow was and all the cool stuff I saw.
  2. Fuck dude sounds like I should ski Stowe weekday mornings as there is less lines than blue. Enjoy man and I hope you get dumped on
  3. That place was soooooo dope for what it was. It was like if Magic had a sister, great looking just like Magic but a bit softer, rolling where Magic is pointy. Slow lifts but a lodge filled with racers and their parents, Spring Mtn like vibe, alot of locals and their kids. Far skiers left was a section of glades called Dark Side of then Moon, tight ass VT shrub pines kinda entrance led to wider powder slots of deciduous trees. About 1/3 way down was an old blown out cabin people smoked weed in and made out. If you went hard left out of bounds you'd end up in a section of super big perfectly spaced pine trees. Unlike everywhere else in VT it was hyper clean like where they must test DR power mowers clean and at the end you could traverse hard right back to the condo return trail and the lifts. I slept in my car in their lot at least twice with no bother but for as cool as it was it was the anti Okemo/Stratton/Snow and in VT that means your dead. Super cool to see it come back in a sense it's a cool mtn with alot of potential. Outside of a fabled mystical section of trees in what is an orchard or at least trees that don't belong in VT off some number road in the NEK I never found a cleaner set of trees in the NE.
  4. It's low angle but with some snow it's still fun and I remember you can ski some decent woods off upper if I remember right. Plus it has a church with a legit service. I think it's cliff but there is that one section where it has just a little pitch before you switch trails right to head to the quad would just be an absolute moonscape. Ice rink ice mixed in with exposed rocks and massive random rock hard bumps with noobs just going down everywhere. You would get to the end cracking up just to get through it. It was like that at least half a dozen times I've been there but I can never decide if that's worse than skating forever on the lower one. That's super super nice and makes the spruce side alot better. The groomers on both far left and right are awesome but generally mobbed so if you can get it when they are empty it's a hoot. The one far skiers left at least used to be the race course and was like a faster longer more technical switchback.
  5. This is the way, Stowe maybe has the best breakfast places in skiing though the Ritz at Northstar is at least as good. No shame in that sometimes it's absolutely brutal but Steep is free on Amazon and Doug Coombs in it describes it best as skiing on the trees. It's what makes the east the east. Did you ski toll road ? The chair down their is slow but that and great eastern at killy are some of my favorites. Long, mostly flatish, winding stand on your skis nature walks through the woods. Upper Perry Merril or Cliff trail whichever is the crossover from the goody to 4runner is sometimes the most technical skiing on earth it's gets hyper beat. How are the crowds ?
  6. FKNA way to slut it up !!!! Sometimes wind is your best friend, it can move way way way more snow than it can ever snow in a day. Killer fucking trip ! Super jelly but way to get the whole smorgasbord of possible good conditions.
  7. That's almost identical to yesterday and like 6 other mornings, I can think of two that were worse. The quad line backs up onto the trail as the line itself can't hold that many people past the gate and even more so as it only has 5 or 6 gates. Half the time a decent number of people in the vip line are actually waiting for the pleeb gates. In the sixer you wait past the gates, quad before. We waited maybe 5 mins max on that particular run but you did absolutely have to have a season pass. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Snow on razors first run was best of the year so far, skiing in a dream kinda snow where your doing exactly what you want without feeling like your trying at all. Challenge was nearly as good and I love the little ledge on the left side to hop off of. Switch, Side, Main all of it was pretty much hammer down let it rip super snow. I had to do work sadly but these are the days I'll wish I stayed all day in July.
  8. I don't think it's actually busted like a drive issue or something of that nature. Rather it's old as fuck so the sensors keep malfunctioning. It tends to take multiple attempts to restart after a stop and today on the first stop Mixil and I heard the trash guys radio say they had 3 stops already for a sensor on tower 9. It seems to be worse the colder and more snow/ice is around which is common to electrical sensors. It's like an old car, the motor and trans are fine but the electrical system is sending crap to old crap sensors which tell the computer to stop as something is wrong. To replace it all would be a summer project if at all.
  9. Soooo sick and conceptually its always cool to ski so close to NYC. Is that the one you can see from 287/78 ? I have family that lives in Berkely Heights and I could always see it driving but I wasn't sure if that was hilltop ?
  10. I'll be out, you can't believe how warm it felt this morning at 15 rather than 3. Tomorrow morning is going to feel incredible and the snow I think will still be very good.
  11. Had work calls until 845 so rolled up a little later than normal to an empty house. King Mixl arrived a few moments later for a rare weekday morning session. Quad only and while it was quiet there were some bigger groups of older heads that kept the lines busy but the trails empty. First run down razors was a perfect groomed carpet then 3 in a row down challenge as it was absolutely spectacular. The first two I had the trail entirely to myself top to bottom with perfect snow which for challenge feels like stealing. We ran some switch and main which were both stellar and for some reason very few people were going that way. There were some marbles coming through the razors and challenge headwalls but I thought they were good marbles for blue. The quad stopped for 10 mins or so around 930 and again around 10 when we got down it was stopped with a line out the gates. I had skis being tuned so I went to swap them out and it got running again but I hate the do you stay and deal with the crap lines or miss very very good snow. Big props to the tune guys, they just put it on the machine but I had a fuck ton of ptex work and they didn't pull a single one. Snow is most excellent, better than yesterday I think but regardless if you can get out, get some for sure before the warm up.
  12. Stowe is such a good place but it has changed alot and it's not nearly as "core" since AIG got it and put in spruce to get that sweet family $$$$$. The day a hiker can't get a ride in VT is super sad but even VT has gone a bit corporate.

    Elk 1/16/22

Only for some, others are some of the most critical of blue. Blues card system is total shit, it has only ever kind of worked and unless it's in your sleeve you have to know how to hump it. Half the things are broken because even when you do it right it still doesn't scan and peeps just push though. It goes with the lifts and some of the grooming and some of the snow making quality and some of their business decisions. I do think it was one of the first systems in the area which may explain some things. Controversial opinion..... Elk is one of the exceptionally few places I cannot recall more than a few sections of trails because they are mostly the same and boring in design.
  14. The driveway is steep but I remember it being short. Once your in town I don't remember much super steeps on the way up the road just a slow climb and there are 383828282 places to stay there. You can be at the base if you stay at the Hyatt at Spruce Goose.
  15. You can tell alot about what is going on by the sound they are making and you got them apart that's always the hardest for me but apparently the new g3s are super easy.
  16. Siiiick bird !!!!! And that goes on your list for pros of non pow days, dope ass fancy lunches.
  17. Today was super good, the snow wasn't as good as yesterday with some crappy spots around but still very very good. The ice has come in and frozen up Chukchi Sea, it's not terrible but very fast and hard so icebreaking ships only. You can make it to the Berlin wall but your going to be moving very fast. I think yesterday pretty much everything was very high trafficked and as such the drier softer snow has yielded to a more blue like surface. Still very good but more to watch out for. Switch and main were best or maybe Chute for putting me on my ass. Super disappointed to miss my favorite meal, toast and I were talking about the fruit by the foot pancakes but it's my brother's bday and the responsible thing to do was leave at 930.....so I left at 1045 🤣🤣
  18. It's not complicated but we pick communist leaders because it's all the way left.
  19. Tomorrow when your ripping down a perfect groomer and it hits that spot where it really gets interesting that's where blue runs out of vert and you'll still have 4k to go. Plus who the fuck ever knows what the weather will be here but my gut says it warms up a day and then goes right back into the freezer and it's really been the consistent temps.
  20. Looks like a hyper good day with zero crowds
  21. Today was sooo good, we had a whole politburo going down Vladimir Shreddin. Our comrade Ridge racer has joined the revolution on a most fortuitous day. Most excellent crew as always but I super enjoy watching other people's creativity and how they ski it and thieving my favorite parts. Mute going left of the tree, toast tree airs, dirtwolfs pure speed in the trench etc etc there are a billion ways to ski it all super fun, scrappy, loose knees tight cheeks skiing. For all the fun it brings they should just turn that whole trail into a series of trenches. Unreal pattern we've been in, the other trails are perfect, even the glades where pretty good. I always feel lucky to be a skier, even more so with the blue crew but the last month has been like hitting the lottery lucky.
  22. Just the scale of that place is insane and when something is really good sometimes you take zero pictures
  23. 11 out of 10 I don't even see one cookie
  24. I might not go that far but I saw Billy Joel in October and he was actually awesome especially for being like 1074.
  25. Unless it doesn't run, that would guarantee a dump
