I was though I'm perhaps the least conventionaly religious person around. Religion as an idea is filing in the blanks humans don't like, Religion in practice is something else entirely. She has no real judicial niche or ethos if you will, shes a follower. Likely because she knew she was at the top of the list for some time and the only way to get knocked down is to be bold. She would be a interesting justice in that she'd for the first time really have to establish law than punt but once your there some persons really open up as it's very hard to be fired. The larger issue remains on abortion which I find to be rather ridiculous given the general state of things. Complete lunacy aside, like every sperm is sacred types the reality of the issue is one of theory vs reality. When it comes to abortion though reality seems almost irrelevant. I've always wanted to talk with a pro-lifer about the life question but I've never met one who'll do it.....the reverse is also true with pro choice types an therein lies the whole problem.

I just like how the tik tok kids are finally learning to appreciate Fleetwood mac......Stevie nicks in her day was a baaad bitch

Unless I'm mistaken this is just a rumor right? Businesses discuss all kinds of things that have no realistic expectation to ever come to fruition but to plan for potentials that are in this time increasingly off the reservation. No night skiing would open a pretty big can of worms for them, refund for pass holders that want to bounce is nice but my guess is they also already spent that money. I'd think a hybrid approach or do it like spring with no services would be the best compromise. Truthfully though nobody knows fuck all, I've bought two bikes for my daughter over the last two months and I had to go to MD and way out PA because most inventory is back ordered to March. Skiing isn't as easy to get into as biking but they could get quite a boost with pretty much nothing else going on and as far as activities go skiing is pretty rona safe by default.

old school dudes would leave the cut end with no edge but in the NE that might be super sketch

Its not the pocs but the gnar in pa is in the pa grand canyon area, it snows a little more there too. The oil and gas pipelines go with like 6 inches if you baby foot it. The rest of PA you gotta go when it snows and then just use your peepers. I skied rebel hill which literally goes down to 76, the big power line cut in Amity and Neversink mtn all in one season but we normally don't have that kind of snow. I've heard of rednecks sledding on slag piles and apparently its quite good but thats all heavy metals.
-
I don't think they filter for heavy metals and the like which at least in some spots is important as the daks/pa have alot of industry that puts crap in all the water though rain. CO I know has some serious serious spots with big time heavy metal contamination but unless your drinking from it all the time it probably wouldn't matter. Otherwise UV is awesome at killing everything

Honestly we had no idea until my cousin got it one trip and had a most wicked case of diarrhea for like a week and nobody wants that. I'd wager its very geography based, most of the higher points in the NE have very little food so less animals and less need to worry but I'd imagine that's different in CO. Glad to hear you dont have covid and once you get your water situation sorted you'll never have to think of it again.
-
I'm no doctor but iirc you can only get that through sexual organs or the eye which makes it near impossible to get through water. I think your thinking of cholera which is super dangerous but only in the 3rd world. Water treatment has almost entirely eliminated cholera from North America and apparently most people who get cholera don't even know.

A RMC hut care taker told me Beavers carry giardia at about 20% rate. I have no idea if this is true but he was very scientifically minded type and seemed to speak with authority. He said if you come to a water source and see beaver shit or dead animals up stream dont drink the water even with a filter. I would imagine a beaver dam would be a hard no lol The NE I think is maybe easier though as water is everywhere and if you follow it maybe 100 yards you can find a spot where a spring is bringing it up from underground. The daks have the best tasting water in the world i swear, I've drank it off rocks and stuff with no issues but your at the source and shit don't live up past about 4500ft there.
-
Sawyer squeeze x2, though get a bunch of their bags or like the big msr dromidery bag so you don't have to be messing with getting water alot. I would only get a pump type over the squeeze if I had to be doing a shit ton of water filtering. Beavers I heard are the worst for giardia and the like, i know one person who got giardia and that shit wrecked him for like a week until he got the antibiotic. I'll drink water untreated from springs i know are good but anything else treat your water or you'll get some real nasty stuff. I saw deaths are at their all time lowest i believe, combined with high positives and lots of testing thats a really good thing. The idea that this country was going to do it NZ style i think is just laughable.

It's a recommendation, the EU doesn't have authority over borders that's still left up to the individual members. So UK will probably still let you in but France no. As a complete aside while I get the focus on numbers, in isolation the single data point is kind of useless in terms of mitigation. Numbers had to go up when things opened, thats actually how it's supposed to work. Combine that number with hospitizations and deaths and now your getting somewhere. What you seeing now is actually I think from a singular dumb humans assumption that this would act similarly over different areas and within different groups. Western Pa never really got the first wave, if UMPC is to be believed their numbers were non existenent when sepa was blowing up. Texas too was extremely quiet while the North East was blowing up. Additionally your seeing alot of spread among younger groups while initially it trended older. The later seems to be most likely an aberration in terms of who was being tested but certainly also because young people were locked down wereas old people were locked down but by necessity had more interactions with other people. The one size fits all solutions at first are understandable, we have no idea what the scope of the actual problem is and no time to figure it out. Yet now we are beyond that and it blows my mind that we are still in complete lock down vs fully open sort of mindset. The virus didn't and will not move through the country uniformly, our policies and mitigation efforts need to reflect the reality of the situation. Few people are coming in and out of say west Texas as NYC so to assume when NYC has passed the first wave tx is safe is really laughable. Same with the way its moving through various age groups though again in the early stages we were only testing those that were the most in danger who tend to be older. If you want to do this right we have to move beyond a simple cases up vs down and actually understand what the data is telling us. Respond appropriately to potential hot spots and developing areas of concern. Blanket do x or y is frankly useless, all the bs virtue signaling in the world didn't stop people from lining up at Hershey Park today because the assumption your operating under ignores basic facts about how humans work and you can bitch all day but it isnt going to change that. This screams for a federal unified comprehensive approach but regardless of your politics i think its plain to see we don't have that. Even as a so called liberal I can't say I believe we'd be in the same place if g dubbs was in office or even Ronnie raygun. Go back to the trump election thread and there were a shit ton of voices saying this is going to cost you and shit ton more that said it won't hopefully now you can see why a basic level of competency and leadership is useful in a president. Even bigger is how this connects to other things, blm has an entirely separate agenda but if you can't see how these two things connect your eternally bound to mindless flalling about that frankly accomplishes very little. August 1 the economics of this really come into play and further down the line the societal impacts which are going to be far far larger. If we can't even see how it all connects we trap ourselves in a place we a solution is impossible. States, cities businesses need guidance that relates directly to the particular situation on the ground not blanket policies. Tx had no business locking down when nyc was because tx didn't have the numbers yet and now when you'd really like to use the lockdown tool in TX it's exponentially harder. Rona bleaters do not fundamentally understand humans and you can scream all you want but it's not going to get you anywhere. All the bs about masks and do you think one person who was anti mask converted ? No you just pushed them further into their whack job beliefs. Gov wolf is in an impossible position but they had better start adapting what it is they are doing to whats actually occurring or you risk this getting totally out of control because what nobody seems to remember is you need the buy in of the people. Fwiw I wear my mask and have been socially distant for months, nobody in my group has had rona or has spread rona. I'm not a denier what I'm saying is the way this is being handled is completely retarded and until that changes were fucked big time...... the rebound from this, the ramifications will make rona look like a walk in the park.

Gangster shit like always lol I've mostly been at the beach, i escaped down there mostly since April. I've ridden my bike through almost all of Delaware i think by now and a decent portion of MD. I was in Wilmington for the protests and looting, I had to see it first hand to see whats up, wig store and the sneaker store got wrecked besides that it was mostly media hype. I was in PA some and did some hiking. I've drank a shit ton of stupid good beer (dewey is killing it lately) and party rocked as best I can with my beach people. Shit is real good all things considered, though I'm dying to ski, I've been so close to fucking off to SA about a 100 times. Rona has been most interesting in what it shows about people. Both the group as a whole and the mostly arbitrary way in which we interact with fear and individuals in how so much of their lives or what the preach has almost entirely to do with what they are seeking to emotionally fulfill within themselves. I still think for the most part Joe avg human did pretty fucking well. If you go way back 1 to 2mil dead Americans should be around and they aren't because humans came together to do something incredible. The doomers will say any is too much and in some sense they are right but also entirely divorced from the reality of existence. It doesn't change the fact that what's come of the lockdown and what's coming is really fucking bad, it was poorly managed but we've never done it before so that's about what should be expected. High fives all around, way to survive our first pandemic !!!!! I hope to see you guys soon. I'll be up in PA more so anybody that has my number or something and wants to ride bikes or drink some beers hit me up but I also might rando go somewhere else too lol........... since December I've done 34k driving and another 3 or 4 on my bike, gotta keep moving.

I'm pro shutdown, I've gone no where and anywhere I do go I wear a mask but that doesn't change our completely ridiculous form of governance.
-
Pence can't wear a mask because Donnie doesn't wear a mask. It's about staying on message and it's an election year. We have found ourselves in a most unfortunate position. We are essentially asking the question who do we want to die and how. Additionally if possible which path leads to less suffering. If we remember this whole thing was about flattening the curve but then people got really scared because its natural to lose our collective shit when the whole world is endlessly bleating about the Rona and all of life has seemingly changed. So now half the country wants to stay locked down and the other half doesn't. Both will claim moral superiority and endlessly virtual signal online because that's what Americans actually truly love, not freedom or fucking George Washington but feeling superior to others. Its all the same shit it always is, what most aligns with all the shit already in there head. A millennial with a shit job and a shit life with no meaningful social interaction loves the lock down. They have done nothing but all the sudden never leaving your home makes you a hero plus they love something they think will make rich people less rich. Meanwhile suzy q chapstick can't get her hair did and actually being around Kaydin and Noah all day makes her want to put a bullet in her head so it's either drink or bars, probably both. Her husband, probably a Liam has to pay for this whole mess and keep everybody happy but aww fuck GDP just fell 40% in q2 so paying the mortgage is going to be a real mystery. Everybody's hopes and dreams and life is being crushed. Which is not nearly as bad as all the fucking poor people all over this world and in this country that will flat out starve and die as other hairless monkeys dump millions of tons of food into the ocean because well it's fucking corn and corn has its own entirely differnt set of economic rules that pretty much work for nobody. So who is it ? You want the old people to die or you want alot of other potentially much larger group of people to die ? Who's right ? Turns out like the real answer to everything they both are and aren't. Either way people suffer, mostly unnecessarily though plenty will have 0 choice. Can we actually science our way to the right answer in this place as to which way less people suffer ? Maybe but its a guess that may only happen to end up right. GA could open everything up and be completely irresponsible and yet at the same time nothing meaningful may occur. My answer to all of this is the same it was 4 weeks ago or whenever it was. You lost like 40 fucking years ago when we all couldn't act like adults and take one tiny slice out of our collective pockets and build a system that doesn't have to have a strict environment in order to function at a basic level. This economy only works when it fully works, minor interruptions ripple through layers in ways we don't even fully comprehend. Global is the only way but if we admit for example that we cannot forsee an earth quake that creates a tsunami that causes a nuclear plant to melt down which stops the only global supplier of certain automotive pigments than is it not reasonable to decouple the system in tiny but reasonable ways. To build a nation that has a social safety net of meaningful proportions so that in something like this we don't have to ask who the fuck it is we want to kill because you can turn down the economy 40% and nobody starves. We become more free not less free, free to not have our heath care tied to a fucking job, free to have people chill for a month and not have half the fucking country lose their shit because their rightly worried about their continued existence. All you 2A dudes apparently never read the rest of the doc because there are no less than about a billion unconstitutional things occurring right now that we never even talked about. Buts that's fucking Communism smarty pants ! Like Norway and their 2%ownership of the entire worlds stocks and bonds or red Switzerland and their token ring barter system that regulates prices for basic goods in times of economic peril. Can you imagine what would happen to our children if we were 5% more like Switzerland ? Fucking Thomas Jefferson and Ronnie Raygun would be rolling around in their graves. Certainly can't have that conversation. Wasn't there a presidential candidate that was talking about this and had a message that directly spoke to this kind of stuff? That's right he's too old and crazy though it didn't matter anyway because one of our two parties is somehow even bigger cowards than the other one that elected an orange reality tv star that can't read and shafted him like they did 4 years ago. We go through this like every 6months, Iraq, 2008, Rona it's all the same fucking message that we just ignore. Our system is shit, not all of it and we need to actually learn the lesson. Not the lessons of how to fight Rona or counter insurgency in pashto lawless lands but the big lesson, how to build a society that copes better with all of this shit and creates less of it in the first place. I don't care who you are or what your politics are you cannot tell me this is it, look around, this is as good as it gets ? Or what we still need that less 10% left out of hummanity to kick the economy into overdrive and everything magically becomes shangrila ? PS Actual rich people won't get less rich in this, all your shit or more accurately shit that used to be someones shit just got 40% cheaper.

The stock market is not the economy, if the repo market locks up it will be in complete free fall before anyone can say Bob's your uncle. DE is apparently closing their borders though I imagine enforcement will be nil still pretty interesting. I know lots of nj and NY were at the beach. I see math says the peak is two weeks away pa somewhere in the 2 to 3k a day range which isn't terrible. Anyone got any good reasons why we won't see those numbers ? DE is so quiet it's hard to believe anyone could be passing it around but I did see the buses are still running. Berks a shit ton of people are out at the parks which I totally get but seems counterproductive to me.

Good, bored af, I like a life of movement but its good to be bored right now. Work is stupid busy for a world doing nothing. How's Allentown? Did you close your work ?

I dont for one second disagree that he was negligent nor does it forgive his behavior but he ran on that platform so then it would be my fault to expect something else plus and this is a huge plus, it speaks to the actual problem. Beyond politics, beyond party human beings have not agreed to address the lynchpin in everything. The economic system in this country is failing not the stock market which is all make believe, the most important make believe buy make belive non the less. It's not failing because of markets or Corona not even poor people. Its failing because its asking too much of humanity and its exposing and widening faults, it's the ice in the cracks of the society we have built. Humans have to have a conversation about what capitalism 2.0 is and particularly debt and banking. The economists around here listen just go look at the numbers in personal debt, corporate debt, the fact that the fed has been blowing money into the furnace in a desperate attempt to get to that magic growth number for at least a decade. Where does the math go ? Exponential growth at 3% is a doubling rate of 31 years ? Check my math but the problem in this economy is the why in the inventing new money. New markets new products new people are not entirely keeping up with need to invent new money. That's CDS magic in 2008, it was a reason to make new money with almost no natural limit because it wasn't reliant on an actual physical resource. Capitalism isn't bad but parts of this have to change or humans will inevitably implode under the pressure. This directly relates to Corona, all the shit I was talking about in the previous post, heath care, how it moved across the world and where it came from, there is a thread that ties them all together. What for the life of me is that I can't understand ever is the under pinning of the shit that really can cause chaos at a global level, shit like wall street is 90% made up. Its not physics, who else cares ? Aliens ? Other animals ? Then why not have a conversation about how we can stop rigging the system for .1% of us but for all of us. Make the system serve humans not the other way around. I am at some level a servant to the economic system, I exist to serve it not the other way around. Anyone ask yourself the same. This system is for humans by humans of humans so why the fuck does it not serve humans ? That's the problem, corona is go around 968679992 of just another symptom of the disease.

How do you feel about the 1.5 to the banks ? I'm not a trump fan by any means but a national closure of sorts is one of those things that is so easy to say but vastly more complicated than anyone person or organization can even comprehend. How far down the essential workers do you go ? It's a global economy at some level everyone is essential. Gotta have power, water, trucking, mail, banking etc etc etc etc and they rely on a giant web of things that also rely on even more things. You want the cheeto in chief deciding that ? A M&A guy by most definitions is not essential nor is the local pizza shop but economics makes for strange bed fellows. Its not the case that you can cut off even one little sliver and not have ripple effects through all the other sectors so even the idea of what's essential is alot harder than just I know it when I see it. What's your enforcement mechanism ? Rolling out the national guard is extremely dangerous, armed soldiers patrolling streets is bad juju, now add into the mix people that are bored as shit and home for 10 days straight and oh boy could you take a 1 and make it into a 100. The police ? Do the math, in every country on earth that has ever existed you rely entirely upon 99.9 of people doing what their told and if you piss them off even if its for totally justifiable reasons you risk them figuring out there aren't enough people to do the enforcing. Law's and law enforcement are largely illusionary. What about the economics of the whole thing ? Does killing 10x as many people over 8 months because the economy took a shitter better than a virus doing it ? What about all the people that live paycheck to paycheck, hourly wages workers ? Going to work for them is essential to feed their families and what not. Five below being open isn't essential but for the person that works there it very well maybe. What about all the people that are in business that rely upon steady weekly income ? Chefs for example, restaurant is closed, rent is due, still gotta eat but you can't collect funemployment and that shit takes weeks to process anyways, plus is the state worker essential ? What about the random who issues the banking card or processes the payments ? You can in the process of trying to prevent deaths by corona cause x1000 deaths if you stall the economy. These are difficult questions that are unprecedented in alot of ways. The president, any president would have a fucking hard time with this question, this president just does whatever he thinks makes him popular, he's mostly ignorant and is prone to reactionary behavior so even if the argument is he should have I'm not sure how relevant it is. I get the hospital bed math and projections from Italy, from a pure conceptual point of reference I agree with what your saying but you entirely discount the most important part. How ? Its like deep water horizon, everybody bitches when they spill it, almost nobody has any idea how it works, even less people have any ideas on how to improve the process and even less people than that can see that the only fucking reason they are down there drilling and spilling is so that everyone else can do the fucking bitching in the first place. The real answer, the real actual answer is to not build a shitty ass society in the first place but that ship sailed and sank long before we were even alive.
