400 parkpro is about 200k list price, really nice range of motion in the front and rear attachments....should be a nice addition to the group. My guess is the logic is a new groomer is in the long range cheaper, has less risk as it only marginally adds to expense and benefits the whole mtn were as 600ft of new trail doesn't. Energy costs are the second highest expense at Blue type resorts and 70-80% of that is on snowmaking, pumping water uphill is expensive so I'd guess you won't get investment in getting the new trail up to par until they have a good season. During the week the place is mostly empty, in my experience it's only full thurs (sort of) and Friday night and sat/sun morning afternoons. I've used them too, they have a nice wintersteiger and they just throw them on the machine. As long as your cool with just a basic grind they do a good job and are quick. Nice to take a pair of skis back to base and then tune from there.

Gotta do what you gotta do.....only person who can answer that is you, shit i've driven three hours (1 1/2 each way) to get there at 8:30 and peaced out an hour later. I view my season pass as I paid whatever it cost for the first run and everything after is gravy....if I go skiing at night and its total dog shit where even I can't find something to be happy about and I ski 5 runs I don't care. All things are economic in some sense but skiing is a break from that kinda shit, I'm putting wood and metal boards on my feet and going downhill at high speed, it's not a rational thing in some sense. There is a day almost every season that makes the pass worth it, it's the good days certainly where it snows but sometimes it's the random Tuesday night where its just stupid weather or somebody said something really funny and that's what the season pass buys me. Work sucks, people suck, maybe I'm taking shit too seriously so let's go skiing and remember what's important in life. I've been driving alot alot for many years though so I'm used to being in the car for a good portion of my day. What's weird maybe is that on one hand you learn to really enjoy the time alone at peace while at the same time little regular traffic will drive you nuts because you feel your whole fucking life is spent in the car.

CB is the tits mcgee, like a little telluride. Really good terrain for CO and the town is cool too. There is a thai place, I know right thai in CO ? but it's seriously seriously good.

That's actually kinda deep lol Well the boat is part of the Park Range which is part of the Continental Divide specifically the Great Divide, 50 to 80 million years ago a bunch of plates slide under the NA plate and hence the Rocky Mountains. Ute Indians I think used to hunt in the Valley and then some dude named Crawford made a homestead there to trap. He did pretty well and the Utes were safe traders so other people showed up and soon enough they had a community. There is also alot of shit in the ground there, the largest coal and onyx mines in CO are near Steamboat.

Generally Stowe, snow is generally better and the terrain is the tits but WF is definitely worth the visit....I like to get around

Bell this year wasn't even in the og budget and every year prior to that various parts of the NY congress scrap together about a million bucks to keep the place running. Bell has a 75million plan since 2010 called UMP or Unit Management Plan that up until the gondy the state hadn't actually provided a nickle of. Bell due to it's proximity to NYC and other population centers particularly in comparison to Lake Placid makes it a potential gold mine. Everyone knows this and this year finally they got 8million form albany. Think about Okemo and then compare it with say Bell, leave the mtns out I'm talking everything else that encompasses why people go to a specific place on vacation and bell doesn't hold a candle. How many people on this website of extremely avid skiers one state away have ever been to Keene Valley NY ? What about Whiteface ? NY has NYC but the rest of the state is mostly empty with very little to do in terms of work. ADK is poor, like WV poor and the skills aren't much better and the fix is simple get money into these ares, develop the tremendous potential for tourism and people will have jobs and schools won't suck and all that shit. Let's see 1.50 a head because after all 8mil out of a 160billionish budget is a very small %, to potentially improve vast areas of the poorest parts of your state on projects that generate revenue directly back to you or I give that 1.50 back to each person, hmmm this is really tough I wonder which of the two of those one should do ? x1000 I've had days as good as anywhere out west in VT add in the tight trees and general coolness of VT and it can be a truly wondrous place. If you stick to the groomers I can see how VT is just a longer PA but get outside of that and it doesn't hold a candle. Jeff fucking loves VT

A whole bunch of stuff is actually stronger, replacement acl's are definitely stronger though the attachment points I think are worse. With a hard cast your pretty golden........If you ride with in your jacket people will be super super nice because they think you only have one arm

Bingo. Maybe 1% of techs are ski scientists the rest are people who want a job in a ski town that doesn't piss test. Bindings are super super simple devices, they are certainly not high precision. Most of a binding is for show, they haven't changed since like 1960 in terms of how they actually work. A look nevada from 1972 and brand new FKS are pretty much the same binding. Materials are different and you got some minor advancements to help get the boot out like afds and rollers but they work exactly the same. Companies almost always put their tech manuals on-line so if you want to know exactly how the techs do it you can get the same training they do which is three pages of pictures and two dummy mounts on a 2x4. Everyone is free to do as they wish but outside of a couple of places here and there nobody will do a better job than you because nobody cares half as much as you do. For every OGE in Burlington or Skiworks in Killy (Excellent techs) there's Back Country Experience in Durango (Great store, horrible techs) who on a remount with new boots charged my brother, took the skis for almost two days and didn't do a god damn thing. Seriously they drove the heal piece to full forward and gave them back. He was full indigio (dude you gotta dial that FP up), hanging on by the binding wing nubs. Buckmans one time on ptex job for a cousin of mine ground pretty much new skis down to .01mm rather than just do actual decent ptex work. Wicks waaaay back in the season rental days didn't reset din and rented my sister a pair with the din all the way backed out. The rental shop at the bottom of Highlands gave my sister's fiance a pair of MX 98's with three stripped heal screws which is a great way to end up dead in the woods. I could go on forever. Even if you don't want to do your own work inspect inspect inspect when you get your stuff back. Gaps, stripped screws, mismounts etc etc etc I don't leave until I've checked whatever they've done and it's all good. Every time I click in I do the kick thing with the shake on both skis to check forward pressure, if a ski needs to be ground ask the dude for a linear base structure if he doesn't know what your talking about understand all your getting is them throwing it on the machine and handing it back to you which is fine but you should know. If you got a fancy at setup take ten mins dicking with them and understand how they work so when you go to the shop you can talk to the guy and you'll know in 15 seconds if they know what they are doing. We go downhill at highway speeds on nothing more than a hunk of wood, plastic, epoxy and 1/8" metal edges, alot of times drunk, trusting random ski tech X is not a good idea. Great people but not trustworthy by default.

That is very true.....wherever it's snowing.... I always ask myself why I don't know of any weather people that are rich because of their weather knowledge. You got rich weather persons but that's because they look good on tv. Now if a weather dude really knew what was going to happen they could get way way richer fucking around with say orange juice futures than reporting on the weather but we don't have any of those types because they weather at the end of the day is completely fucking impossible, particularly now when everything is so weird. Our odds this year look good but it could also be 50 and rain all winter, humans just aren't smart enough at this point to do anything more than give odds.
