EDIT: Apparently it's this patent - http://google.com/patents/WO2016042323A1?cl=en It's 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and according to the patent works like this "As before, this is achieved because the composition permeates the ski and bonds to the surfaces of individual grains within the base layer, coating the outer surface of each grain (even where the grain is located away from the external ski surface). This prevents water from associating with any portion of the ski surface even when damaged, whereas a thin film of water would preferentially associate with non-superhydrophobic portions and contribute to significant performance loss through increased drag and friction. The chemical component may include at least one polymer having functional groups. Preferably, each polymer may have at least one repeating unit. More preferably, the functional groups may include functionalised silicon. " You can buy it from China if you wish - http://www.lookchem.com/product_Supply-high-quality-low-price-Poly-3--2-aminoethyl-amino-propyl-methyl-dimethyl-siloxane-hydroxyl-terminated-Purity-99-/15229579.html I'd say it probably work pretty ok, you may have to grind/brush/scotchbrite it more but the science seems legit. Will not replace like real actual waxing and shit and it will be interesting to see what happens in the real world but how many boards and skis are out there with no maintenance, this is probably better then that.

The claimed environmental benefits are interesting, fluro and lungs don't go together, the water claims are total fucking horseshit. It's crazy tiny amounts of chemicals compared to say trucking or smelting. Dominator says "We can calculate that the amount of fluoro left on the mountain after ten million skier/snowboarder visits will be, at most, 38 pounds.* To put this number into perspective, 38 pounds of fluoro, in the form of discarded microwave popcorn bags, are thrown into trash bins around America every 15 minutes.** Clearly, the environmental impact of the fluoro in snow waxes is miniscule and, in comparison with the very real hazards endangering our planet from other sources, it is insignificant I wonder what it is, probably some kind of ceramic automotive coating, they in no way developed some kind of wonder chemical on their own. Surfactants are a big deal though so lots of them have been developed so maybe they found something nobody else was thinking about but I don't think this is a surfactant. The idea though that it continues to work even after a grind seems conceptually difficult. My guess is it would have to be some kind of uv reactant material that is hardening the bases by sealing the pores in UHMWPE, it could permeate the pores in sintered bases maybe via the capillary effect.
  4. Currently your only going to get little spurts of cold air until what appears to be mid december, the turn could be as early as the 7th but looks more like the 15th. All the cold air is up swirling at the poles and you need the oscillations to sort of knock it out or more accurately you need them to send the cold air our way. So this is just a model but you get the idea of how the cold air works, think of cold air as this kinda super limited resource locked away at the poles and for us to get it, particularly in the early season we need a conveyor of air to coral it into the NE/MA. That conveyor doesn't look to show up until mid dec so until then were all just sort of jerking off, the question will be of course is how long does this cold air stick around. It appears as if it may stick around for a bit and give rise to some snow possibly, zonal wave flux looks promising, models show lots of easterly flow but that hasn't shown up in real life yet. NAO/PNA also looks good with NAO looking negative If you like wildcard kind of bets there is a volcano in Indonesia named Gunung Agung that is low key erupting and one of the super dopest winters was 54 years ago when it last erupted. Currently it ain't doing enough in terms of ash to do much this year but that can change real quick so outside bets on an Indonesian Volcano making skiing dope at Blue Mtn.......
  5. Negative, I'm away but for pleasure......I wont' ski until mid december/mid january....once i start I won't want to stop so i want to be as healed as possible before I get going
  6. I won't be up for a bit I got to be patient but hope it's fucking siiiiick for you guys
  7. MILF game is top notch
  8. Insurance I think, somebody once told me if they are doing even semi-serious work the lights have to be on.
  9. Marcuse - One Dimensional Man is a must read
  10. I didn't mean it like personally towards you I was just saying in general....its like catcher in the rye, decent enough book but most people just read it because lots of other people said it was super dope
  11. The Great Gatsby is the worst book people pretend to like to seem smart lol
  12. 400 parkpro is about 200k list price, really nice range of motion in the front and rear attachments....should be a nice addition to the group. My guess is the logic is a new groomer is in the long range cheaper, has less risk as it only marginally adds to expense and benefits the whole mtn were as 600ft of new trail doesn't. Energy costs are the second highest expense at Blue type resorts and 70-80% of that is on snowmaking, pumping water uphill is expensive so I'd guess you won't get investment in getting the new trail up to par until they have a good season. During the week the place is mostly empty, in my experience it's only full thurs (sort of) and Friday night and sat/sun morning afternoons. Most of this is bs fluff but there are some nuggets about the $ situation - http://emsenv.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Blue-Mountain-Case-Study.pdf?__hssc=256830548.33.1472043258624&__hstc=256830548.405064ff4dfdcfdd9590a6b43c18f605.1459786993079.1471980468020.1472043258624.236&__hsfp=2227798652&hsCtaTracking=bd081b4f-04f4-43b7-91ef-57b56fdd0075%7Ca8b9098f-73a6-4289-adae-74b06bf806e0

I've used them too, they have a nice wintersteiger and they just throw them on the machine. As long as your cool with just a basic grind they do a good job and are quick. Nice to take a pair of skis back to base and then tune from there.
  15. So dope......what a perfect 4mins
  16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgLkdth62eI#t=02m6s Models showing some cold air coming into the NE maybe snow about 3kft
  17. Gotta do what you gotta do.....only person who can answer that is you, shit i've driven three hours (1 1/2 each way) to get there at 8:30 and peaced out an hour later. I view my season pass as I paid whatever it cost for the first run and everything after is gravy....if I go skiing at night and its total dog shit where even I can't find something to be happy about and I ski 5 runs I don't care. All things are economic in some sense but skiing is a break from that kinda shit, I'm putting wood and metal boards on my feet and going downhill at high speed, it's not a rational thing in some sense. There is a day almost every season that makes the pass worth it, it's the good days certainly where it snows but sometimes it's the random Tuesday night where its just stupid weather or somebody said something really funny and that's what the season pass buys me. Work sucks, people suck, maybe I'm taking shit too seriously so let's go skiing and remember what's important in life. I've been driving alot alot for many years though so I'm used to being in the car for a good portion of my day. What's weird maybe is that on one hand you learn to really enjoy the time alone at peace while at the same time little regular traffic will drive you nuts because you feel your whole fucking life is spent in the car.
  18. CB is the tits mcgee, like a little telluride. Really good terrain for CO and the town is cool too. There is a thai place, I know right thai in CO ? but it's seriously seriously good.
  19. That's a fun ski, real hootenanny, not the 103i from years ago but it's slightly softer brethren. Love those drive drive drive drive skis
  20. That's actually kinda deep lol Well the boat is part of the Park Range which is part of the Continental Divide specifically the Great Divide, 50 to 80 million years ago a bunch of plates slide under the NA plate and hence the Rocky Mountains. Ute Indians I think used to hunt in the Valley and then some dude named Crawford made a homestead there to trap. He did pretty well and the Utes were safe traders so other people showed up and soon enough they had a community. There is also alot of shit in the ground there, the largest coal and onyx mines in CO are near Steamboat.
  21. Generally Stowe, snow is generally better and the terrain is the tits but WF is definitely worth the visit....I like to get around
  22. Belleayre is the only profitable portion of ORDA, bell got transferred from DEC into ORDA as ORDA is the Olympic group that runs whiteface and Von Hovenberg. Bell this year wasn't even in the og budget and every year prior to that various parts of the NY congress scrap together about a million bucks to keep the place running. Bell has a 75million plan since 2010 called UMP or Unit Management Plan that up until the gondy the state hadn't actually provided a nickle of. Bell due to it's proximity to NYC and other population centers particularly in comparison to Lake Placid makes it a potential gold mine. Everyone knows this and this year finally they got 8million form albany. Think about Okemo and then compare it with say Bell, leave the mtns out I'm talking everything else that encompasses why people go to a specific place on vacation and bell doesn't hold a candle. How many people on this website of extremely avid skiers one state away have ever been to Keene Valley NY ? What about Whiteface ? NY has NYC but the rest of the state is mostly empty with very little to do in terms of work. ADK is poor, like WV poor and the skills aren't much better and the fix is simple get money into these ares, develop the tremendous potential for tourism and people will have jobs and schools won't suck and all that shit. Let's see 1.50 a head because after all 8mil out of a 160billionish budget is a very small %, to potentially improve vast areas of the poorest parts of your state on projects that generate revenue directly back to you or I give that 1.50 back to each person, hmmm this is really tough I wonder which of the two of those one should do ? I bet there is no way that 1.50 from each person can come back to them with about x1000000 times more value like lets say having workers companies actually want to employ which among many things keeps people out of prison, off welfare, adds additional money multipliers to the overall economy etc etc You yell endlessly to keep your $1.50 because you don't understand at all how it saves you $1000's, your one of the smartest people I know you can't tell me you don't know this rather you choose to pretend you don't. Bell UMP if you want to know the deal - http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/permits_ej_operations_pdf/bellump4.pdf
  23. Anytime I go to yoga all I realize is I'm the least flexible person alive
  24. Maybe if I did something like worthwhile to society I'd feel differently but I'm right there with you. I don't mind my job but I wouldn't spend one more second here if I didn't have to.
