  1. I feel like for the last 100 years they claim they've added hundreds of trees.....unless it looked like the moon before it should be the god damn amazon rain forest by now
  2. hhahaha I'm stupid I didn't see the OG date of this post
  3. Let me check my closet and I'll let you know what I got
  4. This year I have to take a touring trip I haven't gone the last two years which is way too fucking long.....maybe wrangle some other fools into a King trip
  5. x1000 I've had days as good as anywhere out west in VT add in the tight trees and general coolness of VT and it can be a truly wondrous place. If you stick to the groomers I can see how VT is just a longer PA but get outside of that and it doesn't hold a candle. Jeff fucking loves VT
  6. Who wanted people to die ? That's fucked up................even if I really hated like Bob from Miami beach I wouldn't wreck half a state just to fuck one guy
  7. Tequila, not even fucking around, she was my cousin's best friend and I went to the bar with them in the summer after college. I've had more than my fair share of women and I mostly look homeless, be confident but not a dick and be somebody they want to be around and they'll be around.......also dance well lol
  8. Being good looking gets you in the door but being entertaining keeps them around. Your legit funny, lots of women would be in to you for that reason alone.
  9. A whole bunch of stuff is actually stronger, replacement acl's are definitely stronger though the attachment points I think are worse. With a hard cast your pretty golden........If you ride with in your jacket people will be super super nice because they think you only have one arm
  10. Bingo. Maybe 1% of techs are ski scientists the rest are people who want a job in a ski town that doesn't piss test. Bindings are super super simple devices, they are certainly not high precision. Most of a binding is for show, they haven't changed since like 1960 in terms of how they actually work. A look nevada from 1972 and brand new FKS are pretty much the same binding. Materials are different and you got some minor advancements to help get the boot out like afds and rollers but they work exactly the same. Companies almost always put their tech manuals on-line so if you want to know exactly how the techs do it you can get the same training they do which is three pages of pictures and two dummy mounts on a 2x4. Everyone is free to do as they wish but outside of a couple of places here and there nobody will do a better job than you because nobody cares half as much as you do. For every OGE in Burlington or Skiworks in Killy (Excellent techs) there's Back Country Experience in Durango (Great store, horrible techs) who on a remount with new boots charged my brother, took the skis for almost two days and didn't do a god damn thing. Seriously they drove the heal piece to full forward and gave them back. He was full indigio (dude you gotta dial that FP up), hanging on by the binding wing nubs. Buckmans one time on ptex job for a cousin of mine ground pretty much new skis down to .01mm rather than just do actual decent ptex work. Wicks waaaay back in the season rental days didn't reset din and rented my sister a pair with the din all the way backed out. The rental shop at the bottom of Highlands gave my sister's fiance a pair of MX 98's with three stripped heal screws which is a great way to end up dead in the woods. I could go on forever. Even if you don't want to do your own work inspect inspect inspect when you get your stuff back. Gaps, stripped screws, mismounts etc etc etc I don't leave until I've checked whatever they've done and it's all good. Every time I click in I do the kick thing with the shake on both skis to check forward pressure, if a ski needs to be ground ask the dude for a linear base structure if he doesn't know what your talking about understand all your getting is them throwing it on the machine and handing it back to you which is fine but you should know. If you got a fancy at setup take ten mins dicking with them and understand how they work so when you go to the shop you can talk to the guy and you'll know in 15 seconds if they know what they are doing. We go downhill at highway speeds on nothing more than a hunk of wood, plastic, epoxy and 1/8" metal edges, alot of times drunk, trusting random ski tech X is not a good idea. Great people but not trustworthy by default.
  11. That is very true.....wherever it's snowing.... I always ask myself why I don't know of any weather people that are rich because of their weather knowledge. You got rich weather persons but that's because they look good on tv. Now if a weather dude really knew what was going to happen they could get way way richer fucking around with say orange juice futures than reporting on the weather but we don't have any of those types because they weather at the end of the day is completely fucking impossible, particularly now when everything is so weird. Our odds this year look good but it could also be 50 and rain all winter, humans just aren't smart enough at this point to do anything more than give odds.
  12. DIN soles will squeak in a AT binding if the toe height is wrong. Different DIN is because the forward pressure is jacked and the only way it could hit the actual release value is to dick with the indicator settings. Your also moving around in the binding because as the ski flexes the binding is moving around too much and your loosing forward pressure. Older soli bindings used to do this with the wing screws. The mount may or may not be bad, the gap could be as simple as they needed to run the screw in a bit deeper but it's more likely the hole is stripped. If it's stripped you can either move the binding or drop a heli-coil in. Above avg shops can do heli-coils sometimes. This isn't Solly fault, it's whomever mounted them did a quarter ass job and didn't even bother to cover it up properly. This is why I say almost anyone can mount their own shit, it's eight holes. Nobody is going to care about your shit more than you, take your time, get the right bit and a good number 3 pozi driver and you'll do a way better job than 90% of shops.
  13. QBO or Quasi-Biennial Oscillation is looking good for winter in that its continuing its easterly phase. This gets nerdy but the QBO is sort of the first indicator of jet stream performance. The QBO is high level winds at the equator that change direction every 14 months or so, when they are in the easterly direction it weakens the jet stream, now the jet stream is fucked in general because of climate change but a weaker jet stream is better for winter storms and leads to a potential Polar Vortex. If you remember two or three years back we had a dope winter were it was under freezing for like two months straight with some redic cold mixed in, this is because of sudden warming in the stratosphere which in turn causes the arctic oscillation to wobble. We experience this wobble as super super cold air rushing into the NE, the news simplify this as the Polar Vortex. A weak jet stream both encourages sudden stratospheric warming and allows for that air to reach us. Imagine the jet stream like a fence that is also a seesaw, if it's strong that cold air won't get to us unless there is wicked troughing in the west which dips the jet stream in the east because it's riding high in the west. This is obviously better for the NE than say Utah but Utah is dope regardless. CFS is showing big easterlies with a big temp dip in late fall and cold august's are usually better winters, the big question is the ocean. The oceans are really fucking weird right now, temp anomalies are all over the place, southern pacific is way warmer while sub surface northern pacific is colder. Nobody really knows what this means except that we are likely in a nina winter or neutral ENSO winter in English it appears as if the oceans will be cooler too. This is all very positive and aligns with my general theory of boom bust due to the energy cycles in climate change but who the fuck knows it's weather after all. EDIT: I totally forgot but we've seen some really wicked lows across the planet, atmospheric rivers with massive lows this is terrible long term but would make for epic nor easters...........
  14. Gotta stay safe lol We were reasonable about it....I guess lol
  15. hahahhaa I just can't figure out why the fuck they stop after .2 seconds of skiing all the time. They'll start at the top of NMDW and stop above the first lefty, shit that's like 100 fucking feet. WTF you doing bitch keep it moving, this isn't cham it's 900 vert you could probably hold your breath and make it to the bottom LOL Even better is the dudes with like full overnight packs, wtf do you have in there ? You can see the bottom from the top 1:30 and you can be back to the lodge.......
  16. TP4 is 100% correct.......the idea is traffic behaves like water in pipes, at a certain point of flow the pipe almost can't be large enough so if you retard entry of in this case each car everybody can do 40mph instead of the pulsing 75 then 0 but it mostly doesn't work because people ignore the light and then just drive like fuck heads anyways.
  17. Immigrant investor program. You and a spouse can get a green card if you invest a million or 10 jobs but I could be wrong about the specifics.
  18. Good to hear from you dude, hit me up if you want to ride later in the summer in the PHL area. I got a thing I gotta get fixed before then but I'm hopeful I'll be back on the bike by June. If not see you at blue, I got nothing on the living situation as I live in the wilds of Berks....I would say Macungie is pretty nice LOL
  19. They were legit legit, a bunch sent hospital at squaw before the exodus. That's a legit 100 footer....one dude was from Phoenixville surprisingly....now it's alot of wannabes like myself....I only had name recognition in poly ass, it used to be awesome in there but now it's too easy.
  20. I don't remember what mag but in like 07/08 they wrote some article about how TGR was cool and that was the beginning of the end. Mad new heads that were mostly cool but previously it was pretty tight knit and people understood their roles in the fuckery. Regardless a bunch of the og tards disappeared and the quality just was never the same. Pre it was the kinda place where when some dude ripped off another dude over a ski purchase a third dude went to said scammer's house and took skis off the dudes porch sent them to the dude that got ripped off and told the scammer he would get them back when he completed the original transaction. This is the entire internet but the trolling went from clever and funny to mostly just forced bullshit.
  21. TGR circa 2005 and now are two totally different places, it's still cool and light years better than the barking bears but pre skimag article, TGR was the funnest.
  22. I swear they forget about it....with the way they generally do things I'm saying 2020
  23. Before my time I think It's the beaters you never see coming, I bet there are as many injuries on cats as trails, lots of people limited space and you don't think about it because it's just some where on the way to somewhere else.
  24. I know right burma, what can you do but I would like it known for the record is wasn't on the trail. Cat tracks are dangerous, I saw a dude come in hot never see it and launched himself into the stratosphere.......
  25. hahah when I'm on vacation I check out of life kind of, unless it's boring but I don't go on boring vacations. It did the job and got through, I did a little damage skiing and I couldn't ski ski but it was good enough. They'll fix it soon, simple 4" incision flip the tendons to the other side, suture and I'm good. I'm full on donkey kong when it comes to PT so next year I'm going ape, jackson for sure and me and my brother got a bunch of shit planned.
