The first bits of energy show up on land tonight which means the sampling gets a hell of alot better so the runs tonight are of particular interest. In the new age of weather with FB peeps and what not you get alot of postings of snowfall maps to drive interest, as long as you know they are as much fantasy as reality it's fine but many don't.....fuck ton of eye candy out there right now which is very exciting.... sure but you have wide scale agreement on models that a bomber is going to be around with serious potential to drop a shit ton of snow on PA the excitement is completely reasonable. Could it run out to sea or is there some kind of sampling error in the Pacific NW that grows the midwest disturbance which incorrectly slows the whole thing down and allows for the deep dig and stall ? Sure but weather is like gambling, your always playing your odds and right now the odds are pretty fucking good. EDIT: QPF off the charts on the globals, feb 2010 was maybe the last time we saw these kind of numbers, totally dependent on a serious serious fetch from the GOM. The models are likely attempting to deal with a much warmer GOM which in some sense is new territory. 3.5QPF is crazy crazy crazy, models will show something like 40" then which is insane.....

Probably but not like you can't drive to the airport but all of Saturday's shit will likely be cancelled which will fuck with Sunday. Friday/sat storm has the big three in agreement which is sort of strange, right now we are in the bulls eye which is not generally where you want to be three days out but who the fuck knows. This one seems primed to deliver but a word of caution the wind will likely be quite intense and the snow pretty heavy, don't die trying to drive up to blue sat morning as this is more likely to be the storm that sets up the majestic honey bee bowl than the boner donor. Drifting could be real fucking crazy and that makes driving real real spicy.

x2 However there are changes a foot in the stratosphere....NAO going negative, in traditional years this should be pretty good...57-58 was apparently a scorcher +8 and jan/feb were apparently pretty good....PA is currently approx +10 which can't hold I mean that's Hollywood movie shit.....mets are mixed I'd say 2/3 are sold on a pattern change evidenced by the changing of the stratosphere, a step change not a full 180 another 1/3 are sold on nothing in sight....to be fair at some level we are off the reservation......

Yeah....I've done my best to stay positive and look for the cold air possibilities but its getting really rough.....for 20 years I've skied for Christmas vacation, this year we are going to Disney....WTF mate ? It has to come around it just has to......I think......

Which is why it's so warm here......the last two years were super fucking cold in NE and warmer and dry out west, this year is the reverse but its nothing more than sides on the same coin. Pacific is warm jet stream is riding so fucking high bringing all the warm air underneath and the preventing polar air from surging south. The previous years were just the opposite but they both have the same problem extreme jet stream weirdness......

It's not going to raise the temps to the point were skiing is impossible or everyone dies from the heat alone. The temp rise will certainly not be uniform but that's not the actual problem. The problem is everything we do, human existence to some extent is predicated on certain patterns of weather and those are long gone at least for the moment. The last two years were exceptionally cold in the NE which was because of warming in the upper atmosphere and a relatively weak jet stream. This year it's shit because of warming in the pacific, both can and likely do have the same root cause. Humans society is a result of predictability, we need it to rain in the same areas year after year with essentially the same amounts, you can't pick up and move the entire Midwest. It's not temp rise it's all the other things that go along with the increased volatility, what good is cold air if 20 mil people in Bangladesh are now dead and another 50mil have created a refugee crisis the likes of which the world has never seen. What use is snow making if you have a global finical system under serious pressure in say the scenario above ? If you concentrate only on the increased warmth of GCC you miss the point. We have never done this before by any stretch of the imagination no one knows a whole hell of alot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Couple days of coldish air on the way, Blue should get some at least marginal blowing in.

There is a possibility of a break around the 17th, not much but three or four days with lows in the upper 20's so maybe the could get something open for Christmas. Then it appears right about Christmas we get some reasonable weather.......
