  1. Yes big change of plans--staying in for the rest of the day, no holiday party. Car parked three blocks away to avoid the hill, I will NOT be driving until tomorrow at least. Hope whoever makes it out has a blast! Roads around Scranton are a mess!
  2. I'll be up tomorrow, or maybe later on today. I can't decide whether to risk driving up there today, plus I have a holiday party tonight, so I would only have like an hour ski time today. Co-worker who already left today said that 81 is bad.
  3. Yeah Vegas got a few inches, and actually Henderson, just north of the city (I think it's north), got a few more. Here's a pic from my friend's house: I know Vegas has a "local" mountain, but even that I think is at least 45 minutes away.
  4. Wow, Sib, stay warm! My friend's dad lives in Great Falls (this is the one that got married over the summer), and she said that he keeps on calling her to give her updates b/c it is ridiculous!
  5. Awesome TR! SO glad you had such a nice time at Jack Frost. I've yet to ski there (only BB), but my cousin has a ski house there, so I need to try to coordinate something while I am still in PA!
  6. Started to snow in Scranton around 7:50 a.m. Still snowing, even in downtown Scranton. Finally.
  7. hey yall, I'm going to go ahead and weigh in and say perhaps we should all follow "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." If you don't like what someone has said, no problem, just ignore it. Why waste time responding to it? If you think the other person is dumb or ignorant, than don't waste your time replying. Furthermore, if you don't like the way a mountain is acting, then just don't go there.
  8. Website says that the hours are 8-10 normally: http://www.snomtn.com/hours/ The hours specified in the above post state that they are only until Christmas.
  9. Hey yall, Went out for a mid-day session at Sno. It was COLD and WINDY. I think my face is still pink. Lapped Cannonball most of the day, and ended with a run down Boomer. Cannonball was getting crowded so I thought I'd give Boomer a try since no one was on it. It was a little icy, which I guess is why no one was on it. Nice day out, def. feeling back into skiing. Oh, guns were on full blast on Smoke and Lightning. Guns on the upper mountain as well, I forget which trails. Whistler looks like it could open soon, but I only saw it from a distance. Looking forward to the upper mountain opening... It would be nice to get my legs in shape on a green or a blue intead of the blacks.
  10. I'll be up at some point.
  11. Kohls! Purchased for a winterfest party a few years back--looked all over for one and then random Kohls has it! Let's see, it was an exciting drive from exit 184 to exit 182. Moderate traffic at Montage, the drive up the mountain was pretty average. Parking lot was COLD, with a little dusting on the ground from the flurries that occured earlier in the day. Ipod was uncharged and I didn't feel like waiting for it to charge, so no music. No food. I had a healthy choice when I got back though, very exciting stuff.
  12. I went up to Sno after work for my first day skiing this season. Picked up my pass at the lodge and found out that the only hills open were the bunny hill, and Cannonball and Boomer... okay, look's like I'm warming up on a black diamond, haha. Snow was great. I think the snow was a bit better on Boomer than Cannonball. Cannoball was kind of filled with all the teenagers who were out. Okay, I don't have much to say, it was fun! I was out this morning in Dickson City and I could see the guns on from there. Can't wait til some more trails are open!
  13. Awesome news! Hope to be out there by 5... hope I still remember how to ski, haha.
  14. No problem. I don't know if they blew snow last night, but I hope they did--the weather this week I'm sure had to be rough on the snow they had up there.
  15. I think I'll go up tonight and then tomorrow or Sunday. I have a light purple/violet jacket and black pants. I think I am easy to spot. Feel free to say hi to me (I am friendly).
  16. Yeah just to piggyback on the rest of the posts, when I called this morning, they said Friday at 3, and then normal hours over the weekend. I also confirmed with the guy that my season pass was ready for pick up (YESSSS I get to look like I am 22 again on my season pass!!).
  17. From Sno's website: Breaking News! Opening Friday & Saturday 9am to 9pm, Sunday 9am to 6pm. Also, snow tubing will be open. Yipee.
  18. well actually I have non-shopping plans (seeing family and friends in for the holiday), but I'll be at my parents house, so not in Scranton. My luck!!
  19. I'm not complaining, I just won't be around for it!
  20. Bummer! Guess I won't be skiing til maybe Sunday.
  21. Wow, the guns are still on. That has got to make a decent amount of snow.
  22. I'm trying to think positively... the guns are on.
  23. If I get up early, I can totally do it. I'd make the pies Tuesday evening, but who wants to eat two day old pie on Thanksgiving? I sure don't!! Just checked the webcam... the guns are blasting again! So excited. It'll be interesting to see how all the snow grooms out.
  24. I really hope they open Wednesday morning so I can do a little skiing. If they do, I'll have to figure out how to make three pies AND ski in the morning before I drive home... Totally doable I think.
  25. that would be awful! what weather forecast are you looking at? weather.com looks decent... not for snow blowing, but i mean, not in the 40s (other than tomorrow).
