  1. I stopped by earlier today. Tons more snow in piles. It'll be interesting to see what if anything is open on Wednesday.
  2. you should check out the OTHER Sno thread. Wednesday is the rumor. THe website says early this week.
  3. Last night I went up to Montage to check it out. The NF coverage looks good. The rest of the mountain was kind of hard to see. Some trails looked decent, but anothers might have just have snow piles on them--couldn't tell if snow wasn't really blown on those trails or whether the snow was just piled up. Around 5pm when I was up there, I saw one gun on by the base. Base area has good coverage from what I could see from my car. Parking lot was cleaned up and looks nice--new trees planted and some privacy fencing. Just checked the website and it says: "Breaking News! Sn
  4. BTW, I'm not doing anything tonight so I volunteer to take a drive up to Montage and check out the coverage. (This is a nice excuse to go to TCBY and Ann Taylor Loft!) I'll report back.
  5. That's what she said!!! I'm super excited as well--I was bummed b/c I will be away for T-giving, but I could def. stick around a bit on Wednesday to ski for an hour or two.
  6. spoke TO a very friendly person. I need to proofread...
  7. Okay, just called Sno and spoke for a very friendly person. They said that pass photos will start to be taken tgiving weekend. She said that right now they are just focused on getting the mountain open, and if it opens before they have the photos taken, not a problem, they will just look you up and print you out a lift ticket for the day. She said that if you submitted a picture via email, that they would use that. Also, she mentioned that they might be open as early as Wednesday, which would be super for me b/c then I could get a little skiing in before I went home for t-giving.
  8. Um, so does this mean that I cannot use my 2004 college graduation picture? I was looking forward to being 22 again on my season pass.... Looks like I'll have to call them at some point this week. I am kind of annoyed they'll be opening over t-giving weekend because of course I won't be around!
  9. Wow, great minds think alike. I JUST emailed them my pic. I found one of those standard pose pics from college. It's kind of old, but I look the same, so I don't think it matters. I was wondering about the sizing/cropping issues.
  10. Walked out of Farley's tonight around 10:30 and it was SNOWING!! (in Scranton.) Very exciting stuff. Accumulating on cars, grass, and roads slightly right now.
  11. what is the chinese downhill equivalent for apres ski? I could probably give someone a run for their money in the bar. On the slopes probably not.
  12. I've skiied at both Sno (passholder) and Camelback (weekend). Here is my two cents... Camelback has more terrain (or so it seemed to me) and faster lifts. With that said, it is more crowded. When I was there in March last year, I couldn't believe the poor quality of the snow. I personally would choose less crowded over crowded w/fast lifts. I'm very happy as a passholder at Sno. Always open, opened fairly early last year (Dec. 8ish), stayed open til last weekend in March with SUPERIOR snow quality the entire time. Sno blew until the end of the season, so the snow quality was great and not just stuff that had been regroomed a million times (which is what I think I encountered at Camelback though I am no expert). I live 5 minutes from Sno, so the choice is simple for me. If I were you, I'd base my choice on which mountain I am closer to and which mountain most of my friends ski/board at.
  13. Just got back from driving from Philadelphia to Scranton. Hit a bit of snow driving through the poconos. All the cars actually had to slow down a bit. Car said temp at the time was 34-36 degrees.
  14. YAY!!! Great news!
  15. haha, not opening? Okay well I already bought my pass. And if you look at the website, they are still selling them! People need to find something better to do with their time than indulging in idle gossip! (not directed to any one person, just saying!!)
  16. i thought it was right on the border.
  17. depends on where in Switzerland I guess. I've heard that Chamonix is amazing. http://www.chamonix.com/page.php?page=0&am...age&ling=en
  18. Went up to the Shoppes at Montage last night and drove up the access road. Everything past Glen Maura had a decent amount of snow on it. Slopes were covered. Access road and other roads had been plowed. When I was up there in the evening, it looks like they had maybe gotten 4-6 inches? I am awful at guestimating snow totals, so I don't really know. 4-6 inches is at the parking lot. I bet there was more at the top of the mountain.
  19. It has been consistently raining all day in downtown Scranton. Downtown Scranton has a very low elevation (I'm thinking 500-600 feet? hard to tell on google maps terrain view). I think anything above 800-900 feet has been seeing snow or at least wintry mix all day (which is the elevation for my house). Places above 1k have been getting solid snow all day. Tobyhanna has 9+, Clarks Summitt this morning had 6+, so I assume they are about 9 now. I'm trekking out tonight to go shopping so I can report on the status of Sno. Why must I work at such a low elevation? It has been SO DEPRESSING all day looking out my window at rain when 1.5 miles up the road it is snow (or at least it was).
  20. A couple of inches where I live in Scranton, but downtown Scranton is nothing but rain. I'd assume that Sno Mountain also got snow.
  21. I haven't heard anything, but I keep on meaning to send in a pic for my pass. In the Times-Tribune today there is a brief article on Sno having a job fair.
  22. Wow, this is a really good deal I might pick one up. For comparison purposes, a night, mid-week ticket is $30! So, even if you want to ski at night, this is a better deal.
  23. Great news. As a season pass holder, I am so happy to read all of this.
  24. I also do not get why people overanalyze/freak out about this stuff. Sno was just purchased in late 2006. I had a season pass last winter and have bought another for this winter. I thought the snow quality was amazing, especially after skiing at both Camelback and Blue. The only reason that I would go to another mountain is for different trails. Bar/food at Sno is good. Lifts are slow, but I don't think that is awful. Elk is not that close. I think that is exit 207 off 81, whereas Sno is exit 182. 25 miles is kind of a difference. As for me, I live off exit 184, so as far as season passes go, I'd never consider getting one at Elk.
  25. SK, can you please speak on whether the Spyder outlet is worth it?
