Yikes, just saw this. Today is the last day, fyi, for the discounted pass. I am really tempted to buy. Blue is clearly the closest mountain and if I got one, it would mean that I would obviously ski more often b/c its a sunk cost. I could also do the ski racing clinic next year. Hmmmm...

So glad you had a great time. It sounds like a lot of people are discovering Sno for the first time this year and are having a blast.
-
Was it warm out that day? Maybe that's why. I was a season passholder for a few winters and never encountered those conditions. It was probably a fluke.
-
What trails did it prevent you from skiing? If you take the upper mountain lift up, just ski to the left and you are right at the other trails.
-
I am seriuosly thinking about taking off from work one day to go up to Sno for the deal.

30th birthday party for a friend. Other than that, probably putting an offer together on a house I'd like to buy. My sunday will be free so have to figure out if I can fit in any skiing on a budget since I'm now basically downpayment poor.

Really excited for you guys! Hoping you'll get all the snow we didn't get over New Years... If you want to eat in Park City, there is a great/fun pizza place right by I-80 (like if you are on your way back to SLC or something)--will find name--inexpensive and delish. Bistro 421 is a great meal, a little pricey, but not if you are looking for a nicer meal. High West Distillery has cool whiskey making tours at 3 and 4 pm I think and their food is great too, fun cocktails. The St. Regis has fun champagne at happy hour where they saber the bottle, which is always amusing. Sadly, I don't have much skiing stuff to share since it was all manmade and groomed when I was there:)

Having been a Sno passholder, I can say that the snow quality there is always amazing, up to closing for the season. Glad to see Sno stepping up the PR this year.

Glad you're back on the slopes, PC!

I got this jacket. I like it--super warm and cute. Any suggestions for goggle lenses for super flat light? Had a wicked time on one slope in Park City because the light was so flat. Took the goggles off (had ones on for a sunny day) and still couldn't see anything. Just yellow?

Hope you feel better, PC!

Okay, I figured that I'd update on the last two days of the trip, even though I am pretty sure that my trip reports aren't that exciting since I don't keep track of what runs I ski. Anyways... After marathon skiing on Tuesday (6 hours skiing), we were all beat on Wednesday. My legs were stiff/tight, and we all quit after like 2 hours. Just way too tired. I can't really remember what I did in the afternoon. OH, I know, I went to the Park City Police Department b/c I somehow lost my liscence and had to file a "report" so I could get through airport security. I highly recommend the PCPD as far as police departments go--it's super nice and has a really nice lounge area with cushy distressed leather chairs that look like they are from Restoration Hardware. Since it was my last "night' in town, we went out to the High West Distillery for dinner b/c we liked the menu. Had the tri tip which was most excellent along with champagne and the dessert sampler. I also got a new ski jacket. It is pink, which isn't usually my color, but I liked the style and decided to try something bold. Pic on facebook. We all woke up nice and early this morning. I made cinnamon buns, and we got ready. I was determined to have relaxed muscles today, so when my friend pointed out that someone needs to kill the red wine, I had 1.5 glasses with breakfast. Got to the mountain and my muscles were nice and relaxed after a few easy warm up runs. Oh, and I managed to drop and break my camera. whoops. Weather was gorgeous, great grooming, and the snow started to soften up a bit. Skiied off the bonanza, King Con, and Silverload lifts. Then, we went over and did Nastar, which was fun. Left the mountain around 12:30--goodbye PCMR. Ate lunch at home, dropped two friends off for afternoon skiing, and then went to the High West Distillery for a drink (champagne) before heading to the airport. Travel was non-eventful and had no trouble despite the fact that I had no id except for my old law school student id. Overall I really enjoyed the trip. Although the weather was warm and non-snowy, which meant that basically none of the expert terrain was open, that's okay by me since I wouldn't be doing that anyways! Hopefully next time I go away it will snow so I can finally try skiing in powder. I also felt that the town was super cute and the restaurants were great and very reasonable. Plus, I am just happy b/c I am back into skiing and with my new jacket I *have* to do lots of skiing this season.

At the airport now:(. Got a super cute new jacket and a bronze in nastar today!! Oh, and SK, I'm sticking to men (thanks tho) but I'm always up for carpooling/champagne!!

Ha ha. Thanks for taking away from the important aspects of this thread--that I did not fall and what I drank! Also that I skiied somewhere not on the east coast!
-
The food and alcohol descriptions were for you haha. Really happy I went and so excited to ski more at home!
-
Also, I will add that if anyone else at my ability level is wondering what I thought of the blues and the one black, they werent hard or super steep, mostly it was just mentally challenging with a sustained pitch so you really have to commit to going down with confidence bc it is not like in pa where the headwalls are short.

Hello all, I have finally rejoined the winter skiing masses! For background, I moved and started a new job last winter and did not get out at all. A friend got a condo in park city for a week and invited me, so why not? I was like, hey in could learn to ski powder! Flew in Saturday with a cold and fever. Drove to park city and rallied for NYE dinner out at Bistro 412. Had delish steak frites, Mac and cheese, choco bread pudding with blueberries and a cote de rhone. We went back to the condo and celebrated east coast midnight since we were tired with prosecco (SK--would have been veuve if they sent me to the store). Got up early, made it to the mountain by 9, got tickets and went to ski. I will break here to tell you that costco sells a ton of discount passes. We got 5 day no blackout all day passes for $315. Fully transferable, etc no restrictions. They had them to the canyons and another mountain, forget which. Lift ticks were the RFID tag ones, but only needed to scan at the bottom if the payday lift (and town life if you take it to town). Skied off of the payday, bonanza, and mcconkey lifts the first day. I was def rusty to start but quickly remembered how to ski. Great grooming, and the temps were pleasant. The snow softened as the day went on but wasn't like piles of heavy snow that I had. Went home for late lunch, napped, and I forget what we did the rest of the day. Ate dinner at home. Monday we were all sore and tired (and recall I'm still sick), so we headed into town to watch the bowl games at Flanagans. I had some hefe and then some blue moons, it is difficult being in Utah b/c the stuff on the tap is 3.2 and the bottle selection is a bit limited. We shared Mac and cheese, some sort of potato thing, and a brownie. Also we played trivial pursuit which was fun and semi diffifcult since it was the 1980 version--before my time:). After that we went shopping and I found a stellar panda bear hat, which I might buy later if it's not ridiculously expensive--pic on Facebook. Then we went on a tour of the whiskey distillery and had a ton of whiskey, rye, and vodka samples. Since I am not a whiskey drinker, I basically liked none of mine. I did learn a lot about larger scale distilling. I also learned that you can take the town lift there for lunch. Then, we went out to Maxwells for pizza and more football. I was not feeling well so I just had water. Then came home and went to sleep. Today we got up and made it to the mountain by 9 again. Today was fantastic. Skied for a few hours in the am, mainly off of the king con lift. And, I did a black diamond which was very exciting for me. Also, my skiing ability was a ton better today, my legs didn't even get tired. Went home for lunch, then we had so much fun in the am we went out again in the afternoon. Lost the jacket and just wore a fleece, which was perfect. Skied off of the bonanza, silver load, and mother lode lifts. Great fun, snow had warmed up and was fast but nothing was skied off. I really only hit one icy patch all afternoon. Accidentally went down this run that had moguls, WHICH I do not know how to do and have never done. Thankfully it was just two short sections and my friend who used to be a ski instructor gave me the pep talk and told me to go down the center and I did and it wasn't that big of a deal. I did it twice and it was a great intro to moguls. Except then later in the day this guide told us to try some trail and that we would love it. Clearly I look like a better skier than I am bc it was a steep moguled trail! I was so tired at this point that I didn't even try and just went down the side. The lit was super flat too, I could not see at all. At 3:45 we quit and had a polygamy porter (hoppy and chocolaty--enjoyed) and a Provo pilsner, which was ok. Now I am at home drinking malbac while my friends make dinner. I offered to help, but they said no:) Will ski again tomorrow and Thursday then I fly home late thurs. A little bummed there is no powder but I did get to ski a real black and try the moguls, so I am learning at least. Tomorrow I might take a lesson to really learn how to ski them. I will do more blacks tomorrow if they are groomed. Mostly I am happy bc this is totally getting me in shape and now I am super motivated to hit the mountains back home! Although I will need to carpool from Philly but we can meet in Plymouth meeting. Typed in iPad so sorry errors. I'm too busy drinking wine and watching grey's DVDs to fix. Oh and I do have a few pics which I will upload later.

I'm chiming in purely to add that it's a shame Sno does not do better business. I might be biased because I used to have a season pass there, but I did always really enjoy skiing there. The snow quality was excellent. I'd much rather have better snow quality than faster lifts. I think it's just that a lot of people who live around there aren't really interested in skiing.

From what I can see (which means my daily travels to the Montage Starbucks), the guns have been on consistenly, even during the day. Schif -- no pass for me this year. I move to Philly on Wednesday. I'm stuck with being part of the Blue Crew now I guess.
-
Just got back from the Starbucks at Montage. Guns blowing full force. Looks so pretty.

I saw Camelback from 80 yesterday. Some snow blown, but did not seem like anything was covered. Of course, it is hard to see from the road.
