  1. Hey that sounds like drinking in moderation to me! Wish I could do that without the calories catching up to me!
  2. What does that even mean? Smileys are so confusing! OKay, went up for a little bit and it was def. fun, but def. a thigh burner! I could totally tell that I hadn't been to plyometrics in over a month!! It snowed the whole time I was there (except for like 5-10 minutes of sleeting). Center of the trails were all tracked out, but the sides were untracked. I'd say maybe 7-8 inches? Got a few runs in and then came home. FYI, it is still snowing steadily here in Scranton! OH, access road was perfectly plowed. Main roads are fine too, including 81.
  3. Curiosity killed the cat, but hopefully it doesn't get me stuck in the snow. I'm going up now. If I don't post a TR by 6:30, please send out the search party to canvas the area between the Sno parking lot and the River Street exit.
  4. Has anyone been up to enjoy all the snow? As I type this (3:45 pm), it is still snowing in Scranton. If you've been up, how is the access road? Conditions amazing I bet? My car is fine in the snow, but I don't like to push it, especially with that hill being kind of curvy.
  5. Seriously? You can get drunk off of anything if you drink enough of it.
  6. Why is everyone hating on Miller Lite? It's my all-time favorite cheap light beer! I even got a keg of it for my 25th birthday!
  7. When are the Yuengling girls? Thursday nights?
  8. I would enjoy kareoke in the bar.
  9. So jealous!! Wish I wasn't so busy right now:( Hope it stays good for the weekend!!
  10. Mohegan Sun is about 15 minutes away and the new DeNaples one ummmm can't think of the name of it right now is about 45 minutes away. The new one is closer to some of the other Pocono ski mountains.
  11. I think that is probably the best she gets, though she could move up to a solid 7 with better make up and hair.
  12. I give her a 6--7 MAX! Based on looks only. Thoughts?
  13. Snaps for Chippy!
  14. Great video! The parade and fireworks were a ton of fun!
  15. LIES ALL LIES! When I saw Ski, he had already changed out of his ski boots and was rocking the Tims. We tried to get him to stay, but he was having none of it. It's a shame too, because the torch parade and fireworks were awesome--they were even playing 60s/70s classic rock over the speakers--Ski, wasn't that your generation??? Now time to add my little TR... Sarah and I didn't get on the snow til 3pm (we wanted to go late so we could just stay for the evening's events). BIG MISTAKE! First, the NF gets shadowy at this time, and it is impossible to see the texture of the snow. Ex. Smoke had some bumps on it when we went down it, but the light was so flat and shady, you couldn't see them until you were right on top of them. Ditto for Boomer (started out okay, but then got shadowy and you couldn't see). Cannonball was fun if you stayed to the sides (center was a bit skiied off). We hit the top to bottom slopes, which were fun because we made a point of skiing to either the far right or left. The centers were pretty skiied off. Actually, I totally skidded out and fell where everyone else did--I made a big point to ski to the left of the trail, but then some person was stopped on the left, and I decided to just cut across to the right side, and I cut across right where it was a sheet of ice and slipped (under the lift--watch out for this spot in the future). After hitting the NF and Runway/Fasttrack for a while, we decided to go check out the pipes. Whistler had GREAT snow, and Mainline had decent snow. Sarah tried the half pipe, and then got pissed when I didn't try it. She was all, "WTF, I thought you were going to do it!" And I was all, "Um no, I said I would check it out with you, not go in it!" We finished up with the fireworks and then got a couple drinks in the lodge, which was hopping! All in all, a great day, except that I didn't get to see any other PASRs:(
  16. Conditions would be favorable to snowmaking (I think) IF they wanted to make snow.
  17. I'll be there apres 2pm. I'll def. be there for the fireworks and also some drinking in the lodge. Lilac spyder jacket blah blah just look for the girl who is color coordinated. Look for me on the NF and top to bottom runs. Oh, and my name is Melissa;)
  18. Glenn, part of my point was just that for the first 5 years, Sno does NOT need to make money. After that then they need to turn a profit! Right now, it seems like Sno's plan is to sink money into the resort (per the terms of their sales contract) and take the losses as income tax breaks for the investors personally. However, after five years, they def. need to be making money! Also, if people really feel this way, then they should CALL Sno and tell them! Glenn, I realize that you don't live around here anymore and thus will probably not call Sno since you won't be visiting it anytime soon, but other people, who WOULD visit it should def. share their opinion!
  19. Nope, sorry, not a chance!
  20. I totally agree with Ski here. It seems like people have really been acting like Negative Nellies and Debbie Downers lately (though not everyone). Who the hell cares if Sno loses money on the pipe? If they want to spend the money for it, so be it. Maybe it will turn out well and attract lots of people. Maybe it won't, and maybe Sno will choose to scale it down or eliminate it. Either way, the Sno management is in it for at least 10 years (I think), and per the sales contract, they have to invest a certain amount of money into the resort (like 10-15 million dollars I think). They might as well spend some of that on some stuff that could turn out really cool. In addition, I'd like to point out that they aren't going to pull out just because they lose money for a few years. LOTS of people LOVE to invest in entities that lose money b/c you can reduce your federal income tax liabilty each year up to the amount you have invested in the venture, and you can do this I think for up to 5 years. So, even if Sno loses money right now, it isn't a big deal. It kind of seems like the only complaints about Sno are (1) the lifts (which are slow, but really, the demand is not there for anything faster) and (2) things that Sno is spending money on. It IS kind of silly to complain about a ski resort spending money! It is great that we have this forum to share our thoughts about the choices that ski resorts such as Sno make, however, we really ought to limit the useless debate--no one here makes decisions at Sno (though the message boards might be read by management). If you care or feel strongly about something, just give Sno a call! They WANT people to care and visit their resort, and I guarentee you that they'd love to hear your comments.
