  1. See my TR of today's date for more information. Coverage was great on NF.
  2. Hey All, just got back from skiing for a little over two hours at Sno. Me and my friend weren't too sure what to expect since neither of us had been out in at least a week. THe conditions on the North Face were awesome. Great grooming. Chunky ungroomed to the skiier's right on Boomer and Smoke. Cannonball was totally groomed. Surface was true packed powder. I didn't see any ice. Amazingly, my skiing magically improved with a week off--who knew? We took one run down the top of the mountain. It was kind of foggy up there. The nastar hill was closed, but we saw three snowboarders poaching it. Coverage looked good, but on the nastar hill, you could see some rocks or something. We skiied down the terrain park hill--not Mainline but the other one. What do you guys call those jump things that aren't quite jumps--more like an in and out with a flat top? Those looked interesting I guess. Anyways, on the way home I was totally craving sushi but the closest sushi restaurant that I know of is in downtown Scranton. Lemme know if you know of one around the Sno area!!
  3. Although I love that Sno has all new super awesome snow guns, I do agree with this. I'm new to Scranton, but it doesn't get THAT cold here... I mean, I guess it's like what Ski said... they require colder temperatures but their output is better.
  4. Humidity is such a pain. I decided to look up wet bulb temperatures, and I found this, in case anyone is curious: http://www.snowathome.com/pdf/wet_bulb_chart_fahrenheit.pdf
  5. Great news! I'm heading up tonight after work... hope they blew snow! It was 27 degrees when I got in my car this morning (around 8am), so I am thinking it was probably cold enough, but their website doesn't say anything about making snow...
  6. No, but I might go up tomorrow.
  7. Yes, I have experience with both gymnastics and diving. In diving, going forward (forward momentum) but flipping backward is called a reverse... To be considered a back flip, both momentum and flip is backward. Just curious, that's all. See http://www.usadiver.com/diving_articles/spect_guide.htm Thanks for the answer!
  8. I'd love an answer if someone would like to take the time to answer my question:)
  9. That is pretty awesome, but I am confused... you guys don't call that a reverse??
  10. Oh, I didn't realize that I could do this. I'll consider doing this!
  11. I am not part of the Thursday night league, but I will be participating in the beer afterwards!
  12. Nervous about what?
  13. No! I just want everyone to know that I wasn't trying to post out-dated information, that's all.
  14. They must have JUST updated it because I cut and pasted it from their website when I posted that post.
  15. Yeah, sorry my report wasn't that exciting. I live really close to the mountain so sometimes I just run over for a bit. I'll try to include such important details as what I got at Dunkin Donuts and ate in the car on the way over, etc. Also, Sno Mountain reports their conditions today as follows: Surface Packed Powder Base 48" - 60" Seriously?
  16. SEE! How fun would that be?? R.I.P. O.D.B.
  17. But that is the beauty of it... if you don't like the music, you can just listen to your ipod!! I still support my idea!
  18. I don't know if I've ever seen [heard, haha] it before, I just think it would be fun. I find that generally things are more fun with music, but I get annoyed with wearing my ear buds and screwing around with my ipod.
  19. I didn't go down it, but it couldn't have been good - I saw bare spots on everywhere else on the upper mountain. If it didn't have bare spots today, I am sure by tomorrow it will. Maybe someone else can comment on this if they were on mainline today?
  20. I don't really do these trip report things, but I wanted to report on the condition of the mountain for y'all. Upper mountain was SLUSH. Bare patches and puddles. The new park (not mainline, the other one) is not open and I don't think it'll be open until it gets cold again. I really don't know for how long those trails on the upper mountain will be open. Snow on the Northface was soft but not slush and base looked fine.
  21. I'm going up for a little chill skiing in a bit... I'll report back.
  22. I agree with all of this. It's really easy for me to get impatient because Sno Mountain has promised us so many great things, but the fact is that development work takes a while and always runs behind schedule. I worked with a bunch of developers a few years ago, and their projects were always behind schedule. A lot of the stuff is out of their control. When you are a developer, there is a lot to coordinate (general contractor, sub-contractors, materials, weather, regulatory aspects such as zoning/land use/permitting, etc.). If one person in the development chain gets behind, the ENTIRE project gets behind. Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't hold Sno Mountain accountable for things that they have promised and haven't delivered, but this is why I am trying to be a bit more understanding of their situation. Now, I would like to add two cons to the list: Poor customer service Lack of music on the trails (this isn't a con as much as it is a suggestion of what I'd like to see in the future).
  23. Their planned location is right on the Sno Mountain trailmap.
  24. THERE IS NO VIDEO! Haha. For the record, I totally made a Melissa Midatlantic joke in one of the threads, and NO ONE LAUGHED! You guys are no fun.
  25. Whatever! You forgot??--even with that magical picture of us that looks like we are both doing the hokey pokey on skis?
