OMG, I freaking love it! New trail map, too! Now, Sno looks like a real mountain!!
-
How does it work? I don't know if there are any Lukoils around here, but I will def. look into this.

Not on sale til 12/21!! I am so there! Thanks for posting!!

A lot of people on here actually follow weather models. I just look up my weather on weather.com. But there is the potential for a big storm this weekend, so I thought that I would make a thread to discuss what everyone thinks will happen for this storm specifically. My friends in Virginia/DC are gearing up for lots of snow. I was reading that the issue is whether this storm will track east of the I-95 corridor, in which case PA gets less snow, or up and through PA, in which case we could get a lot. Any input?

I haven't been up yet, but the retail area was never very big, so unless they expanded, I am guessing it is not even close to what is in Dickson City.

Did not go up (see other post), but it IS snowing like mad in Scranton right now! Yay for colder temps. Schif, if you get out on the snow over break, let me know!
-
I was SO TEMPTED to get that. But that would mean skiing all the time at Camelback:) Which isn't a bad thing, but wouldn't serve my purpose.
-
Oh, I picked them up before. I am hoping more JFBB ones get posted. Also, I think you are right. I think I might break down and buy a pass to Sno.
-
I see people skiing on the webcam, but I heard Tuesday. ????

Hope everyone has fun!! I'd love to attend but I have a cold:( Super lame. I did just buy 2 lift tickets to Camelback so I will be up at some point this season!

Sometimes its good when the weatherman is wrong

Scrantown got about 5 inches I think. It's not raining here at all. Well, it did for a little bit earlier, but it hasn't for a while now. It is warmish though. -
I would love to visit Elk--I've yet to visit. I will def. let you know when I head up!

These are all great suggestions, except for the school girl one, which I don't get. Scranton Ski Club might be a good deal. Just need to figure out when and where I want to ski. I am also going to see the prices that Buckmans has. I think I have Sno covered with Scranton Ski Club. Other than that, I will be on the lookout for JFBB tickets, Blue, and Camelback.

So, okay, long story short, I will NOT be buying a pass to Sno this year. This is really just because I will be away a LOT of weekends and busy during the week in the evening a lot, thus, I think it makes more sense to just buy lift tickets. Your judgment on this decision aside... Do you have any recommendations for good lift ticket deals? I think it will be kind of cool to buy a few lift tickets to a few different mountains on the weekends, and then supplement by going to Sno after work during the week. Your perspective is appreciated. I am really excited to try a bunch of new mountains this year!! Edit: I always spell judgment wrong. It's my kryptonite.

Lights are on but I dont see any snowblowing yet...

I know that they were blowing Saturday night, all day Sunday, and Sunday night. With that and the natural snowfall, they have got to be getting into decent shape, right?? Temps look really good this week as well. I might just buy lift tickets this year! We'll see. $600+ for a pass seems like a lot...

Guns are blasting! I'd say that Scranton got about 4 inches of natural snow today, too! Gosh, I might have to buy a pass! http://141.151.100.10:81/view/index.shtml Webcam...

I have NOT purchased a pass. I still don't know if I'll be here this winter, and until I know, I am not dropping the money. Kind of freaks me out though that the mountain might open and I might have to like, buy a lift ticket.

I like the idea of offering a free lesson. If it helps Blue sign them up for more than the free lesson, great. If not, I feel like people will leave Blue with a good impression. If a mountain took the time and resources to help me enjoy skiing more, I would appreciate it and want to go back. Honestly, when you look at out of control skiiers, they do NOT look like they are having fun. I should totally go to Blue and get a lesson--I keep on meaning to take one.

I hate the website. It provides very little information. It would be one thing if it were a simple website that was updated frequently and had no broken links. But not only is it shoddy, the info is outdated and half of it doesn't work. We just had a website built for an organization of which I am a member. It wasn't that expensive (think it's under 5k) and looks super professional and includes updates (events, etc.). Why they can't do that, I have no clue. Websites are important because they convey information. I like going to Camelback or Blue's or JFBB's website and reading about new specials or events. It makes me consider going there to check it out. Likewise, if I had advanced knowledge about events at Sno, I could tell some friends (or post on here) and have people come up for it.

Check out this hostel - http://www.hosteltevere.com/ Really cool!!! Decent prices, too!

Rent for the season. You can get decent new skis/boots/poles for the season for under $200. That is what I did my first year skiing, and then at the end of the season I picked up some skis. Also, good skis don't have to be expensive. They will be expensive if you get brand new (both in condition and model year) skis they will be. But you can get great skis at great prices that are last year's model (or the year before). That is what I did, and it worked out really well for my checking account. I hope you get out skiing at Sno this year!

Where does one purchase this sort of magazine? I have a feeling it's not at CVS. Would they have it at Borders?
