Zee Lights. Elk Report..It never got above 32 today. Guns on Delaware, Terrain Park, Lenape and Snow Bowl all day. Very surprised they haven't started on Slalom yet. WVIA day as well as college Wednesday today so much more crowded than a usual Wednesday. Quad opened .. no lift lines to speak of. Snow was loose packed powder, no ice, no brown squirts anywhere. A typical Elk overcast flat light day... Beer was cold...

Yes .. about the middle of the West slope, skiers left. Locals call it the halfway house. It can be accessed from the upper lot, but getting there is tricky and you cannot park there.

My understanding is most of the restrictions remain for the owners of property in VOFS. I spoke with a VOFS owner while on a lift a couple of weeks ago and he told me they now can pay a large amount (I heard 10K and 15K, from others, he was not specific) for a 20 year exception to the no SP rule. This is for the owner and his family. If he paid double it would be a lifetime exception. Definitely get your details in writing before purchase.

If I were building new (or 25 years younger) that's what I'd do. Geothermal is the way to go...

Mine doesn't switch. When I'm at TLCITW for a few days, and the forecast is below 30*, I'll turn off the HP system, and set the oil burner at 58*. When I return to a "cold" home I turn up the hot air oil burner until I'm at 68* then turn the HP on and oil burner off. I can usually get the home back up to temp in a half hour or so. I'm really surprised with the efficiency of the heat pump system both for heat in winter and air conditioning in summer. My summer electrical usage was 25% less with the new system than the old...
-
Yesterday the oil company delivered my first automatic winter season fill. I needed 4.2 gallons of oil to fill the tank @$3.999/ gal. This summer I replaced my old air conditioning system with a new heat pump system, and have been using that almost exclusively for heat. Temp set @ 68*. An hour after the fill up the oil company called to ask if something is blocking the fill pipe....

We really loved everything about Whitefish! Great mountain, friendly locals, good food, great brewery, and a town that's not " full of itself". SHH don't tell anyone.....

@saltyant more ideas.. An electric blanket? Next time fill your tank with diesel fuel which should (this time of year) have the anti-jelling additives. Much more expensive, but sure beats not having any heat. OR add the stabilizer at every kerosene fill up. Do you get the kero delivered?
-
There's also a fuel stabilizer used in diesel engines that can be added to the tank to prevent jelling of the fuel. I add it to my JD tractor every winter and to my extra fuel jugs. I saw some additive that can be added to a already frozen fuel supply. Ask at NAPA. Good LUCK...

10"+ the last two storms. Slopes excellent powder conditions, no ice anywhere. Opening more slopes almost daily. Blowing Delaware, TP, Slalom, Lenape, Schuylkill, and Mahican. Quad is supposed to open Thursday, although they were grooming lower Tunkhannock and the snowbowl yesterday so it may open today. No crowds.. bar's open beer's cold... Edit.. the Herminator said there were a couple of icy spots on upper Tunk..
