  1. I've heard rumors about a slush run in years past... If they do it this year I am so there...
  2. hahaha... probably closer than you think. Remember they buried the lazy river in front of the lodge. It can't be long till that makes a re-appearance....
  3. Great videos... I don't know how you can watch that and not want to try that pipe.
  4. As of last night sno does not have a jump line. But, there are a smattering of jumps. In the main park (park pass required) you have the rev tour jump and the hip on the pipe. In the open park there are about three smaller jumps (not in a line). They have a good set up for rails ect. The open park has good number of rails but they are going to be the wider boxes and rails and set up for less experienced riders (e.g. me). My guess is that the SBX course will eventually get remade into something else. But, that is just a guess. Sno had a jump line earlier in the season, but the snow from the jumps was contributed to a the half pipe. There has been a lot of speculation about what the course will look like for the jib academy. I think everyone wondering should look at the great job the park crew did for the rev tour. They pulling together a rockin 22' freaking halfpipe. From my experience when the management of the mountain commit to an event, they commit to an event. They will purpose build if necessary to get the features necessary to properly host the event. I don't for a second think people should worry about attending the event. I am sure, like every other event this season, it will be first class.
  5. I heard something similar from a competitor riding up the lift. The jump is a lot of fun but it was a little small for competitions. I guess that is something to build on for next year.
  6. Started out with some fresh cord of fast track. Rev Tour pics: Starting gate Looking down from near the gate Starting area: As you can see there a couple features up top then a jump. You can see the two features and then jump in this picture. This was either a 7 or 9 i think ... These are the features after the jump either a down rail, rainbow or flat I somehow didnt manage to get the next features down which were an A-frame and the stairs. The last thing was a hip on the pipe. SBX course -- this thing was crazy. The competition was friday and these were taken on sunday. This was the top of the course you can kinda make out the starting gate then nice drop that was dropped off to the public. This was from the chair and in the pictures above I was probably standing across from the snow gun... (to give some perspective) Middle of the course (there were a ton of rollers and a couple big features) The lower middle ... (the course still dog legs here and there is more to the right including a couple of jumps (I nearly died on one) This is looking back towards the end of the course... it ran out until the connection with iron - horse Those are most of the interesting pics. I hope you enjoyed.
  7. I said a while ago I would post pictures of the new trail rattler... Here is the sign ... it looks lovely. This is a picture standing on top the first head wall and looking down. The next two pics were taken after I skied the first head wall. One is looking up and the other down. Up... Down... (you can kinda see cannonball peaking through the trees at the end) As you can see it is a fun - change of pace trail.
  8. Ok I finally figured out how to post pictures... Pic of the halfpipe from the chair... Thats a lot of snow.... Someone dropping in... Shot from up top ... Another shot from up top... Fun day ...
  9. I've got some pictures of the course and as soon as I figure out how to post them I'll put them up. (.jpg) format...
  10. The Rev tour & meeting some PASRs were cool, but the highlight of the day was seeing the Moose jamming out to Burning Ring of Fire in the bar. That was a sight! I already posted a brief TR from 3/1. I had hoped to post pictures but I realized my photo cord is at the office so I will put some up tomorrow. I think I got a lot of good pics, but we'll see. As is normal for Sunday mornings the mountain was pretty empty. I took a couple NF runs - rattler/cball & boomer and then popped up top. It was about 830 and I was the second person to ski fast track. Untracked cord is always nice the snow this am was perfect. It was a little overcast, but the sun was trying hard to come out. After a couple nice runs I swung into the lodge for a break & a tasty waffle. (recommended) After a few runs w/ a buddy who also just started to tele I decided to check out the slopestyle. The sun was totally out at this point it was nothing but blue skies. Perfect weather for the competition. I watched the qualifying heats for a while and introduced my self to Librider. It only took 30+ days, but I finally met a PASR. He was pretty busy at the competition so I didnt want to bother him too much. I popped over to the bottom of the nastar course and met ski. Two pasr's in like 5 minutes.., I then cruised down lower runway where ski passed me at about mach 5. Luckily I caught up with him & rode up the chair. I don't know if I can ski faster than him with my alpine skis, but at least i might by able to keep up. The rest of the day was pretty much more of the same... blue skies, sunshine, great snow & some sweet tricks. From what I heard everyone was pretty happy the competition. I heard a lot of good things about the park and pipe from people in the competition. Capped off the day at the bar & got my picture taken with Moose!
  11. It was a pretty nice day today. I got a late start b/c i had been working like a dog and needed to sleep in. But, I wanted to get up and see some of the Rev. tour. I started out on some top to bottom runs off fasttrack. Snow was great. I skiied the new trail - snake - wasn't that bad but like the top pf fast track was good for cruising. Popped over to the NF and hit boomer and WL both were very nice with the new snow. I saw some very nice face arrests on WF. On guy lost it 1/2 way down and slid the rest of the way down. I skied around till after lunch (which was the same time as a big squall) then hit the half pipe to check out the competition. I made it for the womens and mens finals. I brought my camera but i left it at the mountain so I will post later. They were getting like 4-5 hits per run and were really airing it out. Some really sick hits. I heard that the boarder cross was one of the toughest on the tour this year so I had to check it out after it opened. It was INSANE. Just going slow though the course it was crazy and I almost lost it a couple times. I heard they took about 8-10 people out in sleds yesterday. After I closed down for the day I hit the bar for a drink or six. All in all a fun time... Time to do it again tomorrow. BTW My streak of not meeting any PASR continues. (but when I was rididng the iron horse lift I got some pics of people on the NASTAR course so maybe I caught ski or someone .... )
  12. I heard mainly good things. I guess the competitors were pretty happy about the pipe. Apparently it had good transitions on the flats, something Park City didn't have. But I guess the big slopstyle jump, while "fun" wasn't a good compeition jump b/c it was tough to throw a 720+ off of it. But, apparently the boarder cross was one of the toughest courses they have done this year. After skiing it today I can understand.
  13. sorry to hear that doug... maybe some other sunday then.
  14. I've seen that a few PASR's are thinking about coming up Sunday for the $10 twilight tickets for pass holders from other mountains. Any interest in an informal PASR meet up? Barring something coming up at work I'll be up that day. I've got a red coat, silver helmet & black spider pants. I'll be on Black Volkl AC30s. So say Hi.
  15. I was up last night and I just ask that you take everything with a grain of salt b/c I am not the most knowledgeable about all things park..... 1.The park passes really make a difference. It has really cut down the number of people who shouldn't be there. Pretty much if you saw someone in the park they were going to throw something decent. (with some gaperific exceptions). 2. Mainline park -- this is a non-park pass park and it is mainly beginner rails and boxes. There is a jump in the middle which isn't very big and then a jump at the end before the 13' half pipe. The jump at the end is looking pretty rough right now. But, it would be good to people learning. 3. Terrain park on spike. This one is pretty good. There is one big jump right off the bat. I saw someone throw what looked to be a 720 off it. So that should give you an idea of the size. I can't remember if there are other jumps (i think 1 more maybe) There are then some rails ect. set up including the staircase. 4. I also don't know what they are building on upper runway I
  16. great pics. I can't wait to see it in person.
  17. Rattler is not a very long trail, but it is a fun change of pace. The trail is only ~15 feet wide (about a cat track). It's tough right away b/c you have a steep headwall which throws you into a curved right turn, then another turn to the left but then its an intermediate pitched runout to cannonball. Other than skiing glades I don't know if I'd skiied a narrower trail. I'll see if i can dig up a picture or two.
  18. Last night it looked like they ran lines from the pipes on Fasttrack / Runway and used portable guns. I don't think they will install fixed guns on these trails.
  19. Snake was open for a couple days already this year. I think technically you could get to it though the glades yesterday, but you might not have liked what your skis looked like afterwards. I saw a few kids pretty deep in the glades. As for Sidewinder you can see when you pass over on long haul that it still needs a lot more snow. There was a snow gun in the woods, but there are some big stumps they will have to cover. When they finally open - Snake --> sidewinder --> rattler should be a fun top to bottom run.
  20. Wow. Great day today. I wasn't planning on staying as long as I did, but conditions were so nice I couldn't leave. Like melissa said the sides were untracked in a lot of places. Even at the end switch had fresh spots by the trees. Easily top 2 days this season! White was great they blew a ton of snow and the new snow was helping to make some great little bumps. I only did white a couple times because I switched over to my tele skis. Wiping out in powder is always fun. Tomorrow snould be nice. They were cranking the guns as I left.
  21. Curious if anyone is planning on skiing today (or has already been up). Assuming work cooperates I'm going to try to head up after lunch.
  22. Do the mods EVER delete posts that are pure ad hom and totally inappropriate.
  23. Well that will make my I'm bored what should I do on a thursday night decision a lot easier.
  24. 1. I'd love to see a few more top to bottom trails off the long haul lift. I know I've seen a drawing with proposed trails in that area, but I can't remember where. 2. I'd also like to see a HS quad replace the long haul lift. 3. I'd also like to see them thin the trees off both sides of white lightening. Those would be some fun glades. But, other than more top to bottom terrain there isn't much that either the mountain doesn't have or is already planned.
  25. Just checked the website and the main page was updated with some pictures of the pipe and the following: Loki
