couple inches of the real stuff on the glades but technicially there not open, unless we get more real snow I wouldn't recommend it there are woods stuff on lightning but its VERY technical. There are usually no lines on weekends except when the MONTAGE SKI TEAM moves through (I hate that stupid ski team and there instructor, squid can tell you why)
-
GRILL STEEZE don't freeken jynx it, last time I said in a thread "Weather looks great" we wound up getting a washout a week later so uhh knock on some wood or w/e because if it rains two weeks from now its your fault! lol jk but seriously knock on some wood just in case. I got that foursquare XL white Goose down coat with a fur hood so big I can fit a helmet under! i was up sunday, i only wore a t-shirt under and it kept me warm all day... Nice report, i'm going up anyway, the chairs were iced up on sunday too, I've been up to sno every day they've been open this year! I didn't ski all weekend. I've seen ski at least 3 times this year.

from what i hear the phoebe lift is only running at 3/4 speed but it's not from a very credible source so I could be wrong.
-
Yeah, After thinking it over, there is no way the cable fell off the wheels, thats what the sensors are for, to stop the lift before it happens, if you are going up the lift, just look at how the chairs are suspended and think if the cable was removed from one tower, the chairs would quite possibly hit the ground (Depending on the load) and injure many people, if the cable came off it would could likely cause considerable damage to a ton of components, the fact that they had the lift running immediately after the ordeal to me says that it was NOTHING serious. If you look closely there are at least two sets of wheels on both sides of the tower that rock back and forth to allow for the arm of the chair to go over, there is a bar sticking out from the side of the wheels, under this bar is a sensor, if the wheels rock too far they'll hit the sensor causing the lift to stop. END OF STORY (unless someone on there staff really knows what happened and i'm wrong)

yeah the banana can handle the bumps well and turns great, i'm just sayin tho its just feels so much damn better on a true freeride board IMO plus since I don't really care about the board I go off the trail even if i know it may damage the base, just fill'er up with ptex and its good to go, the edges are completely ground up tho, but the board's 5 years old and it weighs a ton, i'm not sure how much the stance is set back but its atleast 2-3 inches, the nose is long and the tail is stubby, it floats like a dream in the pow with no effort. plus I only paid $100 for it so... It just hurts so bad when (Inside) sliding off a rail on edge on the banana, i just know i'm killing my edges, thats why I love the DH, detuned and it has the slimewalls so it practically bounces off stuff when i whack it hard.
-
I doubt the cable ran off but it could have tripped or broken a sensor which would cause it to stop. as for the guy getting hypo, thats what my brother told me after hearing it on the news... I checked there website and I couldn't find anything, it was WNEP right? When I worked at the hideout something like this happened, if you look up at the wheels for the cable you'll see these things that look like a long u, those are the sensors, if a chair is tilted too much or bounces it can actually break the sensor off (In extreme conditions) and that stops the drive system until the sensor was ither repaired, or lol hot wired (Thats what my boss did) I'm not sure this is exactly how it works and i'm not an expert on the subject. if someone knows more and if i'm wrong, I would welcome a correction. Usually when i see kids rocking on the chairs I scream at them to stop, i don't care if i appear to be an ass, getting stuck on a lift for an hour would not be a good time and i'll ask that if any of you ever encounter this situation to scream at them, and report them to the lift attendant at the top.
-
I'm not sure, could have used back up motor to get the folks off, regardless, they'll probably open long haul, but I guess that would close off smoke boomer and lightning. i'll call tomorrow before i leave, conditions should be epic... anyone else hear anything about the lift? anyone see it on the news? i'll bet all the top to bottom trails will be opened tomorrow, they even had rattler open today (the one going to cannonball I think thats rattler)
-
lol there only quad, the lift for northface
-
Ok where do I start, Got to the mountain at about 10:30 wanted to try the ski's in the fresh stuff but quickly realized that they aren't really meant for the loose stuff, so I strapped on the banana and started lapping the park, I met up with a friend, we lapped the park for about 4 hours, New features on spike, i'll post a list at the end. So the conditions were decent, steady snow mixed with guns blazing, northface has a ton of heavy loose stuff making it a workout to get through. Park was nice except for this, the park crew today, closing off a feature, taking there sweet ass time, to groom it. then stopping to talk to people while feature is closed while they knew me and 4 other people were waiting to hit it, (He was standing there, just standing, talking, not doing anything. after a about 3 min of idleness we were screaming YO! AE! he even saw us sitting there waiting, just ignored us) come on guys, have some respect and decency. I wouldn't rip on the park crew unless I was really pissed, and we were quite pissed. Lift attendant's checking passes like crazy, I guess some people are making fake passes and they are finding them, so they are now getting close up and some even pull the pass out to make sure its real. even the lifty's who know me and see me every day checked my pass! So good job guy's. FYI this isn't just a weekend thing, they have all been requested to check passes like crazy from now on. Quad lift broke down when I was getting off the chair, it literally broke as I was getting off, I heard a loud crash up there, but thats usually the emergency stop, so I proceeded to go up top and do a full mountain run, figured it would be fine by the time I got back down, when I was about to head down the second half of the mt. to go to the bottom, sno's safety patrol stopped me before I went too far, thank god, it was down for quite some time, my brother called me when I was driving home said he heard it on the news! apparently someone got hypo and had to go to the hospital. Shit happens, lifts break down, but come on, it was really cold out and snowing all day, so you should dress really REALLY warm, duh, there were ton's of people who were wearing jeans and hoody's today! so good job to sno's safety patrol for saving me from getting stuck down there. and they had a huge crew of ski Patrol waiting to help the people getting off. spike features A-frame flat long or urban down box two wide flat boxes in an A-frame configuration 20-25ft jump (Could be wrong on the size don't quote me!) Mainline features same and fun, defiantly worth lapping for a while. I'm calling it an early night so I can get up there early in the morning...
-
hey, so i've come to like my banana but when it comes to pow or loose stuff, you can't beet a real freeride board, so don't expect to get a board thats great at everything, the banana can handle every condition but isn't like really GREAT at one thing, ya know what i'm saying? I usually plan it out and keep 2 boards in the car, the banana can handle the whole mountain and the park, but if i'm planning on lapping the park i'll use the DH, if i'm planning on ripping it up like with all this fresh were getting tomorrow i'll use my old rossi freeride... I haven't ridden other RC boards but from what I get out of it is you cant have a great park board that can handle steeps and powder, if you do find something that say's it can do it all, you'll probably be loosing performance in some aspect.
-
My idea is they cut down the trees because they probably planned on having the park that wide, even though the lift side of spike is riddled with tree stumps and rocks, doesn't mean they don't plan on cleaning it up (Some day) lets just say formally that "Sno mountain" is completely under construction, a ton of things are not finished yet. Today they were blowing tons of snow to mix with the fresh stuff were getting. i'll just do a TR
-
yea upper runaway has been open for a couple days but in most places its very narrow, plus its a hike to get over to it, not really worth it at this point, but they were blowing more last night and the temps were really cold so it should defiantly open the trail a little more, plus this snow we are getting during the day should give us some nice conditions. it looked like they did more tree removal on that trail, (I could be mistaken, due to the lack of snow but i'm pretty sure they did it this year)
-
hey wtf this is not about burton it's about ride's contrabands, i'm to drunk to read what your sayn about burton but burton shouldnt be inhere, so fuck burton corprate bullshit three bolt shit rail shit if its a huge sale its because nobody would buy it and it sucks, mark up chinese robot made. god ugh the tyler durden is freeking me out dude and anna is dead i'm. consperisy shit ugh im done i dont thin k i should post it but its funny i thinkk if "you we ha ha i bt nick m is gonna get pissed"

besides mainline being very well lit now, nothing new really, there are now a couple park features on spike though. its weird, tonight seemed like the place was very well lit, I don't know if it was like a full moon or the light reflecting off the low clouds, or maybe they are fixing the lights too. I'm lovin that bonk! i'm so stoked for this park, i can just feel it, its going to be worth the wait... there's some really creative stuff in there now I can't wait to see what he does with more resources.
-
Damn it's been quiet! I'm leaving to go up in 20 min i'll be on the ski's for a while.
-
Ha ha, maybe it should be more like ground destroys face? or ugly fat chicks shouldn't go near snow? I'd like to see what would have happened if she was not wearing eye protection... Those goggles probably saved her pretty face from certain object impalement and/or eye removal.
-
Thats cool though, I've been up the last 5 days streight, I could use a little break
-
I finially rode them again last night, there on my park board, with my new boots they did fit a little bit better and it was nice un straping to get on the lift, I flew past a couple people to beet them on and had to unstrap fast... they still need some break in time though. I noticed if you strap in siting down there a lot easier, as for the ride quality, I have a pare of ride delta's and there pretty much the exact same binding but without the contraband strap and there pretty compareable to the response, they are noticeably lighter though.
-
I stand corrected, I followed the trail map on there website which is not the same trail number system the staff uses, (Not that you guys need to know all that but I would like to admit I was wrong) reguardless whistler is trail 3 and thats what he said, lets just all be pumped there puting more lights up reguardless which trail it is... I might go up tonight, I might need a day off, the conditions might be great might suck... Check out the 10 day forecast! (I don't want to jynx anything)

Sno Mountain Not Blowing Snow When They Should Be
Santa Clauss replied to sjb269's topic in Montage Mountain
sjb, first of all, you can't see the park from the live cam, they weren't blowing on the parks anyway, they are setting up new lights, they are making a shit load of snow and you do sound like a bitch who doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to what the state of sno is and shouldn't be lecturing a mountain how to run there business. Yea, and there's no contact when you buy your pass that they have to have 3 big jumps and a variety of rails, so go ahead ask for the refund because I'm sure they would laugh in your face. Your complaints are not legit because we have already gone over several of these points in other threads, like the lights for example. There is no evidence that sno is hurting for money, there just un organized and trying to do too many things at once* so what other mountains are 100% open? That last rain storm hurt pretty much every mountain around... -
VW He said the trail number (its how they go by names) and i'm like 90% sure he said 4 which is whistler, Gee, I hope he didn't say 3, now i'm second guessing myself, maybe someone else knows who can back it up? (Pretty sure i'm right though) They might start blowing on spike towards the end of the week, I'm pretty sure they want to get the rest of the mountain WELL taken care of because spike is going to take up the majority of there snowmaking capacity. I was hoping they would have some new trails open by now but it makes sense to wait until after this storm to push the snow incase we do get some substantial rain Now i'm gonna go bitch out who ever started that thread on them not blowing snow

I thought that was you, we both got to our cars at the same time. So the weather conditions got a little crappy, it was honestly one of the best days riding of the entire season in my opinion, like melissa said, the ice was amusing, it was about 26 degrees when I left. New park features: Three flat boxes that step up each time. Pretty cool Same small rail Picnic table set sunken in the ground sideways, really sick Small kicker Ducking awesome Bonk, pops you up perfectly, flows so well Then the rail island Flat down, flat, or urban double down rail Last is the long mailbox set up sideways for a spine If I missed anything please correct me Also I'm pretty sure I was told this because he knew I would post it, but thrlere finially going to be putting lights on whistler soon! IDE like to thank management again for listening to our complaints and doing something about the lights. It means a lot to me.

Live If you can get up here I strongly suggest it New park features About an inch of fluffy fresh Amazing Risk your life to get here I think todays the 6th? Peace
-
Live from the lift, 4 new bright white lights on mainline and I believe one new at the top of the trail that leads to iron horse lift, THANK YOU!!!

it's an iphone, I would have made it more detailed but I was writing it from the life and they were blowing snow right under me, the screen was getin wet, not good. So it looks like they put a new light on mainline, noticed it last night, there still blowing snow on the longer trails and a snowmaker said Possible opening on Monday. I hope they can start workn on spike soon. Brian we should ride together, I was riding with squid and his friends.
