mission accomplished, spent $740 and i'm pretty happy about that, He set me up with k2 silencers with head mojo 11 bindings and the boots by tecnica i don't remember the name, pick them up around tuesday.
-
that sounds like shit, i'm going up tonight anyway cuz i just need to ride, i'm taking the beater board though...
-
yeah i'm leaving now, Idk those ski's... i think I'm more interested in going new just because i don't know how used they were, i also don't know what size ski I need or setback, i'm basically oblivious right now towards setup, even maintenance, i know how to wax and ptex but i don't know anything about ski bindings. i'm just gonna go see what the shop says, as for the money, i checked my balance and i'm good to spend up to $900, even a little more, i mean, i'm still young, live at home, no girly, good job... and there's just something that brings back memories and nostalgic feelings of my childhood when i'm up there but boarding is just getting boring.
-
nick, well apparently backcountry is not having any sales on there alpine ski's, i see price ranges from 600+ I plan on around 300 for boots 400 for ski's and 200 for bindings, if anyone thinks this is not enough just tell me.
-
thanks, unfortunately I don't have many friends that ski, I pretty much know who i cant trust at the ski corner, i've spent a lot of money there over the last couple years and i'm pretty much planning on going in and saying "I want a good deal"
-
I wasn't really impressed with backcountry, but i took another look and wtf, why are ski's so damn expensive? there literally the price of two snowboards... seriously, how much would a decent set up cost?

Ok so lets face it, i'm up at sno 5 days a week, they havent had any new trails open in a while, the parks a joke, and i'm getin freeken board, I skied when I was a little kid and i tried again last year with rental skiis, after 2 hours i was killing the hardest terrain sno had to offer, i did play ice hockey for 11 years and i can skate better than i can walk which helped greatly. So i have my bonus check layin around some christmas cash and some other funds. I'de like to get some ski's soon but have no freeken clue first thing i noticed is why aren't there good online ski stores, there's tons of freeken shred shops but not much for ski's ebay blows for ski's because when ever i search I get a ton of listings for "classic" or "vintage" ski's and its annoying the shit... It looks like boots are expensive! I want ski's for the bumps but would i be compromising in performance if I got twin tips? I don't want to be limited in case i want to go to the park, and its not like i'm gonna race or anything. what brands are good, whats junk. and i'm 5'10" and about 200 pounds, what would be a good size ski for me? I'm willing to spend $700-$900 is this reasonable for a decent package? I don't ride junk and i want them to last a while. Any answers would be greatly appreciated because I sure am getting board on the board and i don't have the time to drive anywhere else to ride. EDIT: i'm probably gonna head up to the ski corner around 12 and see what they have

i'm planing on leaving at 8 because i think we did get some more good snow. looks like the weather channel changed there mind about the weather this week, looks like christmas eve its gonna be rain with a hi of 41, friday 38 cloudy, saturday 45 and rain
-
It was good, parking lot was packed, some decent pow on the sides blowing on spike, I think i counted about 15 guns for that one trail... it'll be open real soon they were also blowing on the rest of the mountain, i'll bet by next weekend they have long haul open. more snow tonight, 1-2. tomorrow 4-6 more inches... I went to my car to make adjustments a couple times, i must have seen at least 5 different groups of people wondering around looking for the lodge. maybe there should be more signeage?
-
ha ha yea it was me, long story short, i was drunk last night and lost my white coat, i tracked it down and i left it at my friends house.
-
ok i'm leaving now be there around 9:30. really green pants big white coat white crowbars white gloves, if you wanna hit the bar scream something at me, looks like the guns are still blasting i'll have my 157 rossi beater board, its red and white... i'll also have the banana.
-
damn Well i for one really like the 9-9 thing because it looks like i can still get up for some first tracks today...
-
I'm not going to bother creating another TR topic because the it would be worthless seeing that the next time they will be open we should have at least 7 inches of the real stuff, but since i'm here i'll give one for your reading pleasure... So the snow tonight was packed groomed and a little chunky towards 6, they were turning the guns on while i was leaving so thats good, its not there fault or anything but conditions last night were prime (IMO) depends what kinda conditions you like, me personally? i like carving hard and getting a good bite, exploring the terrain, goin off the trail ya know? so they groomed everything including lightning. With the fog gone and the visibility back, i noticed that they did do some drainage fixes on spike, and it was hard to tell but there might be more than i first stated, its a little hard to tell from the lift, i'll let you know when i figure it out. or maybe someone who knows could correct me? Lighting still sucks, (Compared to last night with the fog) if you hit the kicker on mainline, don't hit it fast, found out the hard way, you'll over shoot the landing, but conditions will change so much this info is basically out of date. I really wish sno would really get all the guns they possibly could on, I don't know why there still blasting on nf when they could be trying to get other trails open (like spike) but maybe they'll hit that too tonight, i mean they could make snow every night for the next ten days, they could be fully opened by new years, that would be fantastic...
-
ahhh! snow Friday, saturday, sunday, monday and Wednesday!
-
Yeah, I can assure everyone, sno is making snow every chance they get, the trails on nf are absolutely loaded with snow, could they have had more guns blasting? maybe, but it may have caused some neglect for the trails that are important, i would rather have 6 trails that can withstand another rain blast then 12 that get washed out... I don't pay attention to other trails either.

Two lights i noticed tonight (That i can remember) turning on and off were across from the top of lift 3 and another is at the intersection of smoke trail to boomer next to the large tower gun. thats for you management... please please fix your lights! ohh yea, it also stank like shit on top of the bunny slope. I just want to make sure your aware of your problems, by posting them publicly... maybe then you'll fix them? I paid for my right to bitch... I want everyone going to sno to look out for the magic lights and make them aware... because I don't know how else we can get them to fix them. Here it is! October 15th, "We want to ensure everyone that, while the terrain parks and half pipes are an area of emphasis in the beginning phases of snow making, we have a plan in place that will allow us to blanket the entire mountain along with the parks. Snow making quality and quantity will NOT suffer on the rest of the mountain as a result of the parks!! Dirt work has been done on Loki's terrain park and the boarder cross course to hopefully help move up the opening of the parks. We have fixed some lighting problems and are in the process of adding lights to both parks."

So NF is still great wont go too deep into that, they left the piles on smoke which was cool, far left of main headwall has a huge mound of snow so you can literally cut across the trail from this mound, its hard to explain but its great. lightning, bumps getting better, cannonball, tons of crapy kickers on the sides, and boomer was great again. hears the bad... so upper mountain! lift ride up, noticed that the "Dirtwork" for the pipe, basically meant they just made the base of the slope flatter and a more even slope. They didn't Barry the power line on the second headwall that is now hanging about <15 ft from the slope which they really should have because they could have made a great jump using the headwall as the landing saving tons of snow. LIGHTS!!! please sno, if there was one thing you should have done in the off season it was to fix and/or put in new lights on mainline! it is horrendous, besides the fact that it was very foggy, you could barely see anything, lights still turning on and off randomly! its really pathetic, if someone gets hurt on that slope i could see another lawsuit because of the non existent lighting with the park features, I mean come on, spike and mainline are what the kids come to ride and you completely neglected to fix the damn lights. The terrain park wasn't bad, first up is 3 small boxes back to back, pretty nice, first run through had about 20 kids hiking it. second is a single rail, couldn't even see the lip because of the poor lighting, next is a kicker to the last headwall, way too sketchy with the fog and lighting. after that is pretty much the same rail garden but without the spine at the end, i'm pretty sure that was it. overall i'm really disappointed with the lighting situation, the worst part is i know theres like at least 20 brand new bright white lights just siting around in the snowmaking shop, like unless they were repossessed or something, thats just pure laziness tho, if the lighting blows, kids would probably go to boulder where the park is well lit, ya know, where they can see the damn features? and you already own the hardware! ohh yeah i think i remember they couldn't convince anyone to climb the towers or something. hey, didn't sno come on here bragging about dirt-work and lights? Sno stop lying to us!

I guess I forgot to mention the 7-12 inches of snow on friday, weather channel says hmm 100% heavy snow mixed with sleet, 7in if with sleet 12 if no sleet... and sunday to monday looks like more snow...
-
As for the live cam, guns are blasting, plus we may get like 1-4 inches tonight of the real stuff, as for the 10 day forecast, looks great too besides from some wintery mixes here and there they could literally make snow every night for the next ten days with the exception of maybe this thursday night... I heard they wanted to get some upper trails open by wednesday and i think they were close, I don't know if the rain and warm up on monday hurt them much, i'll be up wednesday night and i'll give an update when I can...

Ok i'm gonna have to go ahead and admit that i was wrong in bashing RC, the banana has become my new best friend, maybe it broke in, maybe i was out of shape, regardless, i was wrong. once you hit loose, its amazing, floats like a dream. Bumps and the magnetraction, amazing, you can turn so tight and hard with this deck when on steep, it makes riding the really difficult stuff super easy and just makes it more fun... it does carve different but you get usta it, and before you know it you don't remember how its different than a normal camber board, you just feel like your riding amazing conditions all the time, which means your having a good time.

It was fantastic, the woods to the right of lightning were loaded with snow, if you look hard you can find a little drop off maybe 3 or 4 ft down in the woods, kinda sketchy on a board and really technical really fun, go through the woods for a hundred feet or so and comes out to a little kicker back onto the trail! Tons of loose gran which is great on the banana, the board was amazing... all the trails on nf were great, i got a good workout killin the bumps on lightning and smoke. this weekend i went up friday night saturday day and came back night and came sunday afternoon until around 4 and from those pics looks like i should have stayed a little longer! Ohh yea and "Open this week, December 17th Wednesday to December 19th Friday, 3pm
