so I got up there around 8:30, left at 1:00. I actually left the party I was up at like 6:30 because I crashed on the floor, and was like uhhh I'm goin up now. they blew some snow last night, but heres the thing, it seems like the main headwalls on smoke and boomer were not groomed from the night before, that plus a couple inches of fresh stuf made them beat by 9:30, by 11 they were real rough. Its really not icy at all today, but tonight will be a different story, I'm gonna try to get up there by 8:30 again tomorrow. lightning, it seems like the bumps are always so shitty, there is no rhythm at all, needs to be groomed again, cus its like, starts out pretty good then you'll run into a long bump so you have to ride over it and then its like the next bump is like 15ft down the trail so you have to slide sideways like a noob because its a sheet of ice between, real choppy towards the bottom I freeken love that trail when its groomed, bombing it carving deep ahhh nice... does anybody have any ideas why the bumps are always so un organized? I went up for the fireworks last night, they were good and felt like a pretty long show, it was really weird, I was listening to raw dawg on sirius on the way up and the comedian was bashing on fireworks, like yeah fireworks were great until I was 14 and touched a boob. ahh I'm not here to bash on fireworks because I think its great they put that show on every year, plus the entire like scranton area can watch it too... the torchlight parade is kinda stupid, its like you shut those trails down for that shit? incase nobody else ever saw it, they take like all the ski instructors (Like atleast 50+ppl) and put two road flares on sticks for each person, they all go back and forth one by one like a snake, takes a couple min, they all get to the bottom stick them up in the air and put them out in the snow, lame, and who the hell is darian boyle? It was strange because the mountain was empty after the show, I stood there and watched for about 3 min and proceeded to the iron horse lift and just watched them on the way up, watched the rest at the top of the mountain I decided for the rest of the year I'm pretty much gonna stick to board only in the park and took my new ski's to get remounted traditional because I honestly think skiing is more fun when it comes to north face... next year i'll probably get some real park ski's because my new Palmers are "Freeride/Freestyle" park: good shape on mainline they added the bus stop bench and the small picnic table, there are two table tops now, only complaint, and there's really nothing that can be done about it because of the size of the trail, but it just sucks because if you want to hit the table's you gotta pass up pretty much all the features but the flat rail at the top, but regardless Its in great shape. ohh and the two wedges, 2 little girls were siting right on the landing for 'em I didn't hit the jump but I turned around when I passed them and told them thats a really bad idea, it was like OHHH SHIT BAD, I had to inform them, I was nice though. It would be really great if safety patrol would like really look out for that, someone's gonna get really hurt. Last night the pipe was ICY I've come to the conclusion that reverse camber boards are not the greatest on the pipe, I can't really get a good bite and when I come down it washes out, I know i've heard that normal camber will still excel in the pipe, but has anybody else noticed this first hand? It would be really great if ski instructors could keep there damn lessons off the terrain park and half pipe, some ski school lady let like 5 of her kids ride down the deck of the half pipe, these kids were like 5-7 years old, yeah great idea lady... I saw ski today, I tried to catch up to him to say hi but he's just too damn fast lol j/k he went towards c-ball and i didn't feel like chasing him down. I would really love to know why he stopped posting on pasr, maybe Pappa knows, did he loose a bet or race or something? or maybe did someone blackmail him to the point where he can never post again?
-
with all do respect lol it probably wasn't a bad investment because they may have been able to rite it off as a loss for last year, who knows, maybe they'll turn a great profit this year, do the dirt work this summer, hire a bigger staff and have the pipe back next year...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
-
ugh hey this is our biggest thread since the 22-ft pipe. if you want I can bring it back up so you can bicker there... like old times.
-
Yeah I didn't get up there until 5:30, but anyway, I had an idea today, It'll only work if we have a decent base which I know we don't have, either that or put it up on an island, take the wide flat T box thats still good, (If there is still one good one left because I think I remember the second one being cracked) and sink it down so its about 6-12" off the ground, like a butter box, now I know it would be tough because of how deep it would have to go, but I can just imagine coming at it from any side trying anything and having no consequences if you fuck up. I think this would be a blast no matter what your skill level was, at least from a snowboard's point of view. ohh don't they have that square flat section of the steps?

Guess i'm wrong, he had grey pants and a white helmet, diff coat than what you described but it was really warm out... I guess i'm just paranoid, the 2 kids were like stareing me down, they were in front of me I was on ski's, the kid in the grey pants stoped at the top of spike to set up for the 1st jump, his friends went down to spot the landing and he looked over at me and just took off and went to mainline, then they all stoped and watched me slide the flat box, just super weird thats all.
-
In front of me on the lift in the middle, if it was you I know you knew it was me behind you. cus your friends were looking at me like there was a reason for it, reguardless...

it looks great now... but this weather man, wait for a review after the weekend, this weather were getting tonight through tomorrow's gonna do some damage to the park but i'm sure it'll be good by next weekend, Thursday night's gonna drop back into the 20's and every night next week will be in the teen's after tonight there is (Knock knock) no sign of a warm up. I almost worked up the balls to hit the first jump on spike tonight but Idk what went wrong, I caught twice on the flat down went face first off it fucked up both knees took some viks good now but barely walk, should def use the DH because my edges are still sharp on the banana, I see there is a nasty dent in my edge but what ever! I see a lot more kids hitting it now, still no takers on the 2nd jump but it really doesn't look that bad anymore and if I was riding with someone who was hitting it and I could match there speed I would hit it for sure, I'm just un able to judge how fast to take it at this point. DJ was that you?
-
the problem with those cheese wedges is that the landing is uaually compleatly beat by 7:00 because it lands on a headwall thats not that steep, what about a table top right at the headwall and have the landing of the table continue and flow from the landing of the tabletop right into the headwall, so kids can hit it super slow, or super hard and still be good, might be easier to groom too

ok so I have some more time, I'll explain, look at PASR as a sample audience, lets say between 1-3% of your customers know about the website, It can be a good tool to find out terrain conditions, some general updates, things like that, the incident that happened most likely will never be seen by your general customers, and i'm pretty sure nobody who read it said to them selves, "Wow, i'm never coming back," and half of them probably sided with cary, infact I still plan on buying another full season pass next year, as long as you continue on replacing the lights, i'm sure those white lights when put high up there will light up the mountain like its day out. and I am very happy with the progress they have been making, I know there very buisey over there. I was very angry when I posted monday night, mostly after talking to those kids, having there opinion's agree with mine gave me the confidence to say what I did, that plus having to bail 3 times because of the ski blade kids... I may have gone farther than I wanted to, just like cary, you see, leting out on this forum takes a lot off your chest and it feels really good to let people know how you feel, should he have said what he said, no. but he knows now. I would love to give some ideas for the mainline park, just starting to ski gives me a good perspective of what would be good for a beginner, dronedalot you've been skiing for a real long time and you probably don't see things the same as kids just starting out, if you could try to make a list of the available features, is the 20ft picnic table still working? I think it would be sick on the first headwall of mainline because its so long that kids cant croud under it...
-
I'm just checking to see if I can post on this computer at work Guess I can, ahh I don't have time anyway... I just needed to say one thing really quick, if your important up there at sno you really need to give cary another chance, he made amense with me and he really doesen't deserve any serious reprocussions.
-
I'm super super furious right now, I cant take this shit i'm turning my computer off so I cant keep looking at it
-
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT everyone on this forum, me squid, brian JLSKI, those 3 kids I talked to last night all have full fucking season passes, and its $550 ass. your right this is scranton pa! and only 10 kids use those fucking jumps, so why don't you cader to the 100 kids that can't use the jumps! actually its more like 300 kids who cant
-
Okay so how is that not calling me out, first you say i'm bitching about something I don't really do, but I do, almost every night. Your right, I have never had the chance to plan out a park, you attack me personally by calling me a POSER!, bringing up my attempt to set a rail which failed, and then you say you respected my hard work? the next paragraph you say "you actually have to make the landing you bitch." So... your having a hard time fixing your features? hmm too bad you didn't hire back the hard working guy with 4 years carpentry experience, a welding cert, and a degree in precession machining... I have had it with this bullshit, your a Manager, REAL professional dude. I really can't believe you can get away with talking like that on here!

Listen guys, DJ, Cary, this is to you, I was up sunday from 9:30 to 4:30, saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 friday from 4:30 to 8:30 Thursday, tuesday, monday, sunday, saturday, thursday, I can go on.... In all these days I've been there I only saw two people hit the second jump on spike, now you can call me a pussy, I deserve it, but I swear to god I, and everybody I ride with thinks those jumps are a big waste, I mean its your park Cary, your right its not the dave clauss park, your 100% right, I did a shitty job setting rails with seth, probably because I had no idea what I was doing, I have no problem admitting it, I'm not trying to be sarcastic btw. You say you appreciate criticism but pretty much everything I said for the first few paragraphs were quotes, from those kids, the thing about nick, thats what they said, not me... I just put it out there hoping you would get on there asses. If I knew that was DJ I wouldn't have called him out, he called me names I called him names, whatever, He's a legit skier, not some punk 14 yo kid, that was my first impression from the whole 40 line caps lock no spaces btw paragraph he posted a couple pages back... As for being a park rider, why don't you define what being a park rider means, Just because I can't work up the balls to hit big jumps at night? that mean's i'm not a park rider? I can 50/50 urban single barrel rails, does this qualify? board slide urban down boxes, (If you don't believe me watch my shitty video on youtube.) the only feature I won't hit (Thats set) is the dfd and the single barrel battle ship because I can't make it past the flat and I have never seen a rider even try the battle ship. I thought we had an up-flat-down, I guess I'm wrong by Cary's response, my bad... As for watching other people to learn how to do things? I'm pretty sure I didn't say copy there style, poser? Cary, you tell'n me you've never watched someone's speed or technique for a guideline? You've never watched a snowboard vid and said, I want to try that? Yeah, sorry, I try to ride with kids that are better than me, try to do what they do, how else do you learn man? I feel much more confident when I see how someone else does things, I'm usually by my self in the park. so... You want to rip on me because my skills? sorry dude but I don't think i'm doing too bad for only riding park since the end of Sno's first season which is pretty much 2 years. I couldn't afford to go anywhere else last year and I have no friends at home who ride park, or have money, so i'm pretty much by my self out there, I would love to go to boulder... I love the park and its fun as hell...
-
hey we have the same goggles, I'll have to come and see how it's done, I cant wait to see someone actually do something on those jumps. sorry but I work during the day and I can only ride at night, but I can be there by 4:30 I'll have a brown coat with green pants on, yellow/green banana or white palmer p01's (ski's) if i'm skiing don't expect much because i've only been skiing for a month so... uhh yea dude i'll admit I wish I could ski like that, thats why I started skiing last month, because it looks fucking sick, I'm trying but i'm not gonna kill myself over something stupid as that. I Ski/board because its fun not to try to win anything.
-
I don't know man from what I heard from those 3 kids a lot of kids were coming up short on that jump and getting killed, sounds like your full of shit to me, maybe you should like tell me who you are and stop flaming like a punk douche bag.
-
Fuck you, I never see anyone on spike at night, its a fucking ghost town, so why don't I see you killing those big jumps? I don't know who you are but your defiantly not there every night, I don't give a fuck what you say, anyone go up there on any given week night and watch those big jumps, ask the kids who are actually there on a daily basis and ask them how the features are, maybe you come on the weekend, or during the day and hit that shit but I'm there every day and i don't see anyone touching those jumps. So what's your name? come on don't be a pussy tell everyone who you are...
-
That is assuming they were outside during the summer, I don't know if they actually were. So i apologize if i'm wrong on that. I was going to delete it after I read it but its too late.

Soooo... when is the park going to start progressing? I've been up almost every night for the last 2 weeks and so far I've barely seen anyone hit your jumps on spike, tonight for example, I lapped the park for 4 hours and saw 1 guy attempt the second jump on spike, he had to bomb it from the top of the trail to get speed, and just aired it. don't know if he made it, same with the first jump. I grabbed 3 kids walking past me in the lot, when I was leaving, I asked them how they thought the park was, there first response was "Its okay" then I asked a little more, they responded with "why are the jumps so big? there too big for everyone to hit, maybe 8 people who ride sno regularly can even work up the balls to hit them," "there is nothing for kids to ride to practice, its either extremely small or deadly large." now these kids are ages 17-19 park kids, skiers, I've seen them last year and the year before, there pretty good, coming from them means more than my opinion and they said the general consensus is that the park is lacking a lot compared to last year, they then went on with how the park was set up last year and how they loved all the different features, The one kid said he put his ski through the box when it was set up triple up, they said that was a horrible idea, they said they were the most fun when it was just 3 in a row. also, the third jump on spike (still under construction is absolutely stupid because it takes up the whole trail. the one kid also said he asked nick to groom a feature and nick's answer was "no dude I already did it tonight" and the fucking gapers are so BAD! I hit the pipe tonight and 2 kids on ski blades came up while i was coming down from the wall and I almost plowed into them, I had to bail to miss him. Two kids were standing on both sides of the lip for the double barrel, I screamed at them and ran over the one kids board to prove a point. a whole group of kids were sitting right under the flat rail at the top of mainline and I had to bail to miss them. SO PISSED!!! I was furious for the rest of the night, thank god I had a 40 min ride home to cool off, this happened 3 more times tonight! dude, you park guys just sit inside the shop and watch TV all night, I know because I did it last year too, I don't give a fuck about burning bridges at this point because you guys are doing a shitty fucking job, Its obvious the park sucks because I never see the park crew hit features either, hey Carey, I thought you said only workers this year? your probably really only there during the day during the week but why don't you come on a week night and see what features are being hit, the single barrel battle ship never gets used. The least you guys can do is have a presence in the park and tell kids when they're doing something wrong, I see the crew once a night tops, and since your too damn lazy to put up signs the gapers don't even know they're doing anything wrong! Features keep disappearing on mainline, that bonk was my favorite feature and it was just taken away, 2 or 3 weeks ago, the up box to bonk has been closed all week and they took away the table sideways in the ground, what happened to progression? what happened to the 20ft picnic table? The X box? the C bowl? wall ride? whale tale? battle ship box? there are 4 single rails and only one out, there are so many small features that would mean so much to everyone if they were out, I'm sorry sean, this is not boulder and you don't have kids like that here, I know you want to bring them hear but why, they already have boulder and I don't think your ever going to compare to that, so just give up on your progressive bull shit and just try to please your customers, no your too good to put a picnic table in the ground the normal way, yeah the people you talk to say last years shit sucked but the people who ride sno every night would rather have that than what is there now, ohh yea and i'm pretty sure that plastic isn't suppose to sit outside in the sun all summer... maybe thats why there all cracking. I'd say that was a pretty good bitch fit...
-
Ohh yeah I was riding up the lift today with 2 guys from the race, they were talking to each other on how great the terrain was at sno, even better than Blue, I have never been to blue.
-
Got there around 9:45 skied for an hour and a half, then rode for a couple hours, park was ok but melting, some features on ML were closed, it was a little too windy on spike when I hit it. met up with squid around 1:00 (I think) and put the ski's back on, I think we left around 4:00, after a long day I was craving a massive amount of calories so I went to BK and tried the angry whopper, it was ok, not that angry... Smoke was pretty much closed all day, there was a really big race going on so it caused a lot of traffic on boomer and cannonball which left it pretty beat but not too bad, lightning is getting bumped up again. The lines on phobe were pretty serious today, not like yesterday. all other lifts were good. Ohh yeah and the zip rider was running yesterday, forgot to mention that.

I use a candle instead of a torch lighter, it gets the job done. I never use base cleaner, maybe a little windex, when its just dust or surface dirt. I save the shavings and if the base is really dirty I just do a hot scrape, but this winter its been so good that I have not had to do this, why take off more wax than you need to? with all those steps... just clean the scratch up with a razor, light your stick let it drip a couple times on the scraper, fill the scratch, wait 20 min, scrape it off, wax the whole board... that simple.

It was soooo packed today, Actually made us go 4 to a chair on the quad, I met some cool people though. Parking lot was super super slick when I left at 7:00 I didn't see the comp I'm going to try to be up there by like 9:00 tomorrow but that never works out. They fixed the light at the top of rattler, I guess the bulb was defective. I still find it amazing that this business is doing so well while everything else is doing crappy, I bet those investors are glad they took the risk, maybe they'll pump more money into the mountain next year, and hey, if global warming means amazing winters like this than I fucking love global warming.

I think we should keep this topic going for those random days that may not be worth starting a whole new TR but for quick updates, not saying tonight was not worth a full blown TR. Maybe for quick comment's ya know? Parking lot was packed by 6:00 pm, I mean really really packed, Like I haven't seen it this packed since like the last holiday weekend day. Because of my new setup I can't give a great review of the conditions, it was a really big change. Plus there were gapers everywhere and there was a ton of dodging, I find it fun though. NEW LIGHT at the top of lightning!!! Lightning is great now, pretty much groomed and it was really fun. When I went down rattler the first time with the new lights I was speechless, a woods trail with bright white lights, Freeken sick. I hope they can do the rest of sidewinder and snake, that would be so awesome... The mountain is open 100% warm tomorrow, maybe a little rain on sunday morning and this week does not look too good, but i'm sure they can take an enormous warm up and still be fine.
