I never got the pleasure of meeting him. Vibes to his family -
Roll call time. Who else is going tomorrow?

I'm sure Jeff can school you while you're out there. Glad you make it out there safe. Have fun.

Date(s) Skied: March 25, 2011 Resort or Ski Area: Camelback Conditions: Bluebird, Packed powder, some death cookies Trip Report: After reading that Camelback got 18" of snow the day earlier, Toast and I decided we'd meet up there for some AM turns. After a quick Long Trail Pollenator in the parking lot, we headed out. I thought there were a surprising number of cars in the parking lot for a Friday, but when you're the only place open, maybe not. Lift lines were less then 5 minutes. Snow depths there are amazing for this time of year, at 12'-15' deep in parts. Unfortunately, anything that was untracked, had turned into boilerplate overnight. Conditions ranged from nice groomed packed powder to death cookies that would make Blue Mountain jealous. We pretty much skied the whole mountain by 12:30 and decided to call it for the day. Scuttlebutt on the lift was that they are thinking about opening next weekend also. While unbooting in the parking lot, we met up with some of the Camelback regulars and discussed differences in safety techniques between Blue and CB. Gotta love parking lots. A big "Thank You" to Camelback for the Alien Day. If they open next Friday, I will take another day off of work to get in some April PA turns.

I should qualify, that while I'd rather ski Elk this weekend, I'll be at Hunter.

I'll be hitting Cameltoe tomorrow. Fresh snow and I can hit it for free...don't take much more convincing to get me to burn a vacation day.

I thought doug and jeff were going to aspen?

Date(s) Skied: March 18, 2011 Resort or Ski Area: Plattekill Conditions: Spring Trip Report: As the thread title states, I headed up to Plattekill for their Facebook Fans ski free day. Plattekill is a fun little place and there's virtually no runouts. I made surprisingly good time at 2:33. The drive past Kingston is so much fun. When I pulled into lot at 9:15am, there were 15 cars there. I got booted up and over to the window for my free ticket. I think they were expecting a much larger turnout. Conditions were soft granular in the morning, but around 10:30, the sun broke out and everything started to turn to nice spring corn. Other then meeting up with AndyZee for a few runs, it really felt like I was skiing at a private mountain for the day. First run up The mountain biking looks real fun here This was part of their terrain park, but all the features were removed.

I went to MS for the 1st time in Feb. The mountain is great, and I think you'd really like the layout and terrain. However, I was let down by the surrounding area. Station Tap Room for happy hour as they have the best beer selection Last Chair also has a good beer selection. Valley Saloon has a decent beer selection, but the best food of the 3. Two Tannery if it's date nite. South Bowl and Snowdance are the widest trails I've ever seen Mountain Sports Inn

I disagree. Snow was nice, soft and fast. Everything was edgeable last night.
-
I should add I can see rain clouds moving in.
-
Its pretty nice right now.

Don't forget Rita's 1st day of Spring on Sunday.
-
Good of you to stay sober enough to post a few pics.
-
Conditions were good today. I wound up staying until just after 1. I think it makes sense to shut down the Main Street lift. It's not like it's cutting off access to any trails.

Glad you guys are having a good time. Can't post more, gotta finish building the ark.

Anyone going to Hunter on March 27th who is a season passholder gets to ski for $25. Justo, Rose and I accidentally found each other last year and had a blast skiing in the sun all day followed by some nearby German food and beers. Later in the day we met up with Ride Delaware and someone else who I can't remember right now. Here's the link if anyone wants more info. I hope to see you there. http://www.huntermtn...der_day&filter=
