It would have been a better TR if I remembered my damn camera.

One can only hope.

Tru dat...PA smells like cow shit though. For years I've been trying to figure out which is worse.

Action failed: You have reached your quota of negative votes for the day

I'd rather have ~30F and sunny. Rain is just depressing in the winter.
-
Shit. Looks like it's gonna get worse before it gets better. http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Blue-Mountain-Ski-Area/6day/top

Thanks Tarponhead. I'll be there Sunday as well. Monday too

170's. I was going to get the 177's but decided to go shorter after talking to some people and the shop guys. I don't seem to be missing the extra 2.7 inches any.
-
I'm really happy with the Jet Fuel's. They did blast through the slop way better then my Crossfires would have.

The snow was really grabby and just not that fun. I would have rather skied the boilerplate.

Date(s) Skied: 1/19/10 Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain Ski Area Conditions: Ever ski down a Slurpee? Trip Report: Great night at Blue despite the snow & the fact the I forgot to bring my camera. I'll talk about the snow first. It was really like skiing down a giant slurpee. Very chopped up and everywhere you went, you would eave 2 inch deep tracks behind you even if your bases were flat on the snow. Paradise and Dreamweaver probabily in the best condition, with Dreamweaver having on;y a few really nice parts. Main Street was a horrible mess top to bottom. Razor's was eh. Falls was bumped up pretty well and I didn't exactly notice that on the ride up. We'll I blasted off the top only to land and be very surprised to find moguls. I'm amazed that I was able to just lean into them and absorb ever effin one of them for all of 100 feet. I saw Nastar Glenn while loading the 6 pack and skied a run down Dreamweaver with him before meeting up with Tarponhead for a run. It was awesome to finally get a run with you dude. We really need to do that again when you have more time. Earlier in the night, I was talking to a dude about how he liked his AC50's and how I just demo'd them a few days ago. I don't know why I'm so curious about this ski, I totally love my Jet Fuels. Anyway, I was gonna take a run with him to see how they ski, but had to grab a phone call. Later I saw the guy with the AC50's again and skied a pretty brisk run down Paradise with him after giving him the low-down on the redcoats. I skied a few runs with him and he gave me the 101 on skiing switch. Cool to fool around with. I can actually keep up with him, unlike when skiing with GSS, AtomicSkier, Toast, Kragen & NS-Jay . Later while skiing Lazy Mile, I saw Gorgonzola and TarponHead in their race clinic but I didn't exactly realize that at first. I told dude on the AC50's how I know all these folks because of PASR. I then told him he should join the Blue Crew on Saturday or Sunday mornings because I need someone else to pick up the rear. I think he'll join us at some point. Hopefully soon we'll be rolling two six packs deep again. Despite the conditions, I was blasting though slop with relative confidence. I really had to keep to a pretty good form and absorb a lot of crap with the legs to do so. I felt sorry for Naster Glenn and TarponHead because they were stuck on their race skis.

Have a fun and safe trip. Watch out for the moguls on the dance floor.

Date(s) Skied: 1/18/10 Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain Conditions: Spring-like. Corn Trip Report: Awesome day at Blue today. If yesterday's word of the day was "Cookie" today's was "Corn". Completely empty with spring-like conditions. Then then sun broke through the clouds and corn was harvested . I did 18 runs in 3 hours. Razor's was an absolute blast, even with the ruts left in there from the ski team. Main Street, Lazy, Switchback, Dreamweaver all excellent. They really did plow over and re-seed the moguls on Nightmare, I think I got a pic of that (looked horrible, I didn't ski it). Not too many pics because I forgot to recharge the camera. Mrs Root did pretty well and had a blast also. I was really surprised that when we left around 11:30, the valley lot was still mostly empty. Picture time. Nice sky Razor's Edge More Razor's Edge Re-Seeded bumps on Nightmare Sorry, that's all I was able to take before the battery died. Totally legit day today. Can't wait to go back for more.

Zaldon is an ok dude. I got to ride with him a few times last season. To each their own.
-
Hahahahaha...ok, we're going. TR later. Anyone else gonna be there?
-
Wednesdays are $23 on Liftopia, Thurs & Fri, $34. Ever do any mid-week PASR days?
-
What do you think the surface conditions will be like? I'm guessing hero snow-ish or more death cookies.
-
Mrs Root wants to go tomorrow. Normally, I'd hit it in a heartbeat but I'm concerned she's not gonna be thrilled with the conditions. Anyone else going up? Think we'll see any crowds?
-
Yeah, the guy with the Marloboro Miles fanny pack was a classic. You were rocking Barny's pretty good. I should really try to work on improving my bump skills on Nightware.

Date(s) Skied: 1/6/10 Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain Conditions: Typical & Crowded Trip Report: So many PASR's in the house yesterday and no TR? Saw Toast in the parking lot, and then as we were leaving. Met up with Kragan, Johnny Style and Nastar Glenn. Again Paradise had the best snow on the mountain. Blue now has 3 bump runs, as they seeded bumps on Nightmare. Challenge was freaking horrible. Death cookies or death bumps...take your pick. Switchback was pretty good and the snow in the upper part of Sidewinder was as well. Razor's was closed for race training again until 11. Only Blue would close the best trail on the mountain on a busy holiday weekend. Genius. We got the first runs down it and it was an absolute mess. Ruts and piss poor grooming everywhere. I guess the new winch cat isn't helping... I was going to have a little fun and demo some skis. I told the Volkl guy that I wanted to try the fattest skis he had with him. He said that would be the Katana, but he wasn't letting them out today. Ok, so I then asked him for the fattest skis he would let out today. That was the Mantra at 96 under foot. Kragan thinks I'm freakin crazy...but I'm only having a little fun here. I did two runs on them (Switchback and Lazy). I hated them after the 1st run. Quickly, I switched them out for a pair of AC50's. Being very similiar in dimention to my Jef Fuels, I wanted to give them a try. They are softer in the tip and feel like they had a shorter turning radius. A very fun ski though. All things considered, I like the ride on Nordica's better. Not much for pics today. Had to get in and out before the crowds came. Race team on Razor's

Yeah, I'll be up for an AM session.
-
So I guess I know where to find you huh...

Razors was just closed for the race team from when I got there until around 7:30ish. Lots of people straightlining Razors once they opened it up. Some more successful then others. Edit: I can't make Sunday but Monday is looking good.
