We're heading north tomorrow before lunch, road conditions permitting. Looks like were blowing off Sno and just doing 2 days at Elk.
-
Scranton got some, looking at the Times Building cam and they got snow on the streets.

http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13027 This thread covers a few places to stay, Elk's Website lists a few, too. IF the kids can handle the blues at Roundtop, they should be OK at Elk.

34 degrees and overcast, no precip...reporting from Moe's front lawn.....back to you, Hurricane........
-
Better call PENNDOT before you go, you might need snowchains.
-
UFO's (Unidentifiable frozen objects) been falling for the last 10-15 minutes here.
-
Thanks for that report, Hugo, we'll take a look at the 5 day forecast after these commercials.....
-
Stoke for a frozen weather event. Post up first signs of and type of precip.
-
And the winner is....... Orazzi's in the stix. 34/pp a nite, and discount lift tix. 9 miles from Elk. Heeeeere's JOHNNY!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Chain, corporate......in name only, the building does look impressive, but we're willing to try something weird and funky in the stix as well. Might make for a more interesting TR and its a little closer to the mountain. Thanks for the feedback..
-
F'in stupendous. J-hole, fresh snow coming, and the eagles are winning......sounds like another solid day. Dick's ditch is a fun run and Sundance is a bomber's wet dream.....
-
Thanks, and they have an 89/nite ski/stay pkg, nice looking place.
-
Good to hear from central PA!!!!!

Right now, we decided to blow off CB next weekend and plan to head north Wed, ski a PM session at Sno to check it out, and then either crash at a chain motel like the Radisson in Scranton ( so we can walk/cab to bars) or stay at a place like Arlo's Country Store. Then ski Elk Thurs/Fri. Chet's is fully booked, so that's out. Anyone heard good or bad about Arlo's? http://www.arloscountrystore.com/ or Orazzi's http://www.orazzisblueridgeinn.com/ downside is if we're bored at these places, we're kinda stuck, unlike staying in Scranton, where there are multiple places to get bored at.

They were running the raceway double, I didn't bother to check on any others. Granted, after reading TR's from BC, Blue and other Poke hills, it sounds like everyone had record breaking crowds yesterday, so my comments on the "crowd" mighta been unfair since it was unusually busy everywhere. But the nickel and diming is obscene. A few of our free heeler friends that have been season passholders FOR YEARS think this might be their last season at CB. Elk is rapidly becoming the preferred destination.

We got up to Scamelback by 8AM, gave the top parking lot $15 charge the finger and parked topside in the handicap spots. Stood in the "ticket only" line for 15 minutes to get our overpriced $53 ticket and proceeded to the cafeteria to boot up. Lapped the front 4 off Sullivan, groomed cord (barely), low 20's temp, overcast, little wind. Conditions were unremarkable, not great, not bad. Headed over to the Stevenson lift around 10 via Raceway, which was goobered out with a million nubs as was the lift line, so we rode it to the top and traversed back to the Sullivan lift, lol. Wow, boatloads of hoodie sweats, one piecers, reverse entry and antique equipment, intermingled with nouveau russian/eastern eupopean transplants wearing top dollar Spyder gear and somehow managing to make it look cheap and gaudy. 2 dollar for the ski checks, new season passholder locker room (the old Fireside lounge) which rumor has it they'll charge 300 for a locker and 300 TO USE THE LOCKER ROOM per season. 30% hike in food prices (season pass holders get a 10% discount) the ticket lines were so bad by 11AM people were leavin in droves. We brought our own snax and bevvies so we took a 45 minute break around 12 and then hit the front 4 off of Sullivan until about 2:30. We stopped having fun around 1:30. All 4 front runs (excluding the Hump, which was getting blown and will prolly open this weekend along with Cliffy) were pretty much scraped off and iced on the top third, with a little sugar on the sides.....very little. Hit the bar with a few friends for a Sammy Winter Lager and came home. I'll just say that it appears new ownership's marketing campaign seems to be working, at least it seemed that way from the crowds today. And that's all I gotta say about that. Except were skiin Elk Fri-Sun and not hitting CB. No pix, nothing pic worthy, and I was afraid some CB employee would pop up and try to charge me for taking a pic.

It can only get better from here. Have a great and safe trip to Jhole, A-Jeff.

I'm sure they make judgement calls on grooming everyday. Prolly figured that the shitty weather over the holidays wasn't worth making an extra effort if snow was on its way along with colder temps. we're getting a little dusting down here in the flatlands..... I don't think any level of complaining will make a dif if management is content with it.

It started flurrying in Philly about 10 minutes after I asked, psyched for Friday, I hope Code Blue blows and grooms it up for everybody.
-
I see overcast at Blue and what appears to be some snow falling earlier, anything to get excited about quantity wise so far?
