Boring ass day today had me mindlessly googling ski__ ( country name)__ and coming across some interesting places many here will never visit, (nor want to in some cases). I ran across this one from Iran, scroll to the bottom and there are a few resort videos which are a bit dated but amusing to watch. http://www.skifed.ir/ski.htm

Maybe that's the plan, do a nice PR piece for Reality TV, shore up expenses, and try to dump the place. Might be a good move for everyone, especially if they get someone as ambitious as Marty at CB.

Just read an article on this new ski and binding system, I posted it here in case anyone goes there (GSS is thinkin of goin this weekend) and might be fun to check out. I think the inventor is from there. http://www.antongliders.com/

I was only referring to the slides portion of Whiteface, generally speaking, they need serious spring snow to open up, and I don't think that is the case this season. The rest of the mountain should be fine, although the forecast is getting dodgier by the minute. Gotta bring some raingear, just in case

It's in LK Placid, about a 1/2 mile from where we usually stay at the Townhouse Lodge, so still a 10 minute ride to the mountain. Gives dad a chance to mosy around town if he doesn't feel like skiing each day. There a bus that runs from downtown to the mountain which is free and drops you right off by the lodges. Not anymore, they stop running that in March. Otherwise, it is a great service.

True dat. They rotate foreign help all the time. It's so bad, that Jhole has an instructor shortage because the foreigners didn't get their visas renewed. They were stuck assigning them to "ski guide" status without pay until they shipped out. I think the eastern european workers come in now, and the latinos head home.

yea, the money saved translates into some great dinners and mega-cocktails....and pays for the gas. Next best deal was at the Crown Plaza, fancier place and better location, buffet b-fast included. 388/pp. I'll be surprised to see the Slides open, their website doesn't indicate if its open, and the cover looks thin. I'll TR and send pics if I find a computer. I'm stoked for more skiing.

Just when I thought I couldn't get a cheaper deal than 190/pp for 4 nites and 4 day ski passes, the motel clerk informs me senior citizens ski for free, knocking the total down to 145/pp......... Better bring the Lysol and roach motels, lol

I'm blowing off CB this weekend and heading for Whiteface/LakePlacid Sunday for 4 days. The deals are too cheap to ignore. Stokeage.......

Now that's how you back it up. Nice sourcing, strong sauce........

Way to go, its always nice to finish the season conquering new ground. By the end of next season, you'll be yawning going down Lightning......

Thanks, like I said, it's an idea we tossed around along with a half dozen others, and it's got a lot of moving parts which involve a friendly merger of a few groups of skiers. If it gets off the ground, things won't get serious until later this summer.

Tiger Woods could still shoot par with a used set of left handed ladies clubs..... but good equipment helps

Great pics on this thread, I'm itching to ski CO next year. A couple of us are toying with the idea of renting a place and staying in Steamboat next year for 6 weeks, and selling shares to friends that wanna visit for a week.
