  2. yeah, 53 in a few months. Skiing is my midlife crisis fix. Cheaper than a sports car and less complicated than having an affair.
  3. you left out ghetto nachos and SMH.
  4. Brilliant timing! Should be great Saturday, I think I heard there's some more snow on the way.
  5. How I got to that conclusion chilling out after a day like today, looking out at a blue fading sky with shades of red and pink is where the magic is at. PPP FTW!
  6. Funny you mentioned the cold, I was blazing a few minutes ago and looking at the snow outside. I was thinking the snowfall total up here is prolly somewhat below average, yet the snow pack and conditions are fantastic. This polar vortex has been a game changer to keep the snow around.
  7. When your last name is Funk yer destined for a career in music or being a ski bum
  8. Yeah, well get this: Told her yesterday I'd prolly head home this afternoon due to snow and road conditions (True). Skied Jay from 7 - 2. Got in the car and my phone battery was dead. Didn't revive until I got back near the house. Called her from the car and said I was in Essex Junction on my way home (lie). Got back to the house, pretty much got everything packed into the car, then got in the car and facetimed her. Told her when I went to get gas in Essex Junction I couldn't find my wallet and had to go back to the house because I left it in my ski jacket(lie). Facetime showed her that I was in the car, packed and the dog was in the back. It's 4:10PM. Told her I was ready to leave and wouldn't be home until midnite. She felt bad and told me to stay another nite. Bonus dawn patrol tomorrow morning and then I'll head back. Moral of the story, sometimes a few harmless fibs gets you another pow day. The End.
  9. YEah, Jay was in the sweet spot with at least 15-20" of sweet pow today, got a free lift tix and skied with a mag friend of mine. All time awesome day. Bottomless and deep. Tram was closed so the upper mountain was up for grabs and the refills kept coming for those willing to hike. I can't remember anything that far back. Yeah, I skied. 3 years in Harrisburg while in law school had me skiing Roundtop and Liberty with the occasional trip to New England. Then it was season pass at SCamelback and season rentals in Pocono Pines with the occasional trip north or west.
  10. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!! Plan to see my fugly mug up there next week! Bringing gear back for some spring goodness.
  11. DEEEEEEEEEEEP.The pow machine cranking up again. Supposed to hit Jay tomorrow. My wife said she hadn't planned on marrying a ski bum. I laughed and I cried.
  12. Killer conditions day 6 up here. Spent Wed morning climbing up too short ladder to get up on my roof and unload over a foot of old pre existing deep crust and cream cheese for 5 hours, then storm skied 4 runs in the afternoon. Loving the longer days now. Wed/Thurs storm delivered well over 2 ft of pristine pow so cleaning the roof off was a good move. No idea how much weight the roof can tolerate, but you only need one weak spot to find out. My han, arms and shoulders are still stiff from doing that. THursday it kept snowing, mountain was super busy, Madonna was delayed opening and when it began loading it was every 3rd chair. We were about soth chair up. First run down was Upper FIS to Dempsey's, knee deep the whole way down. Got more snow Friday nite with another 6-8" down. Extending my stay until at least Friday, anyone on the fence about skiing NVT this weekend, do it! Took zero pix, its THAT good. Happy St PAts day!
  13. Looks like you guys got fairly good conditions while there, good to see you pulled the trigger and got up there, JFD.
  14. Nice TR, sounds like y'all had a good sampling of everything up there. Heading back up sometime midweek in hopes of a potential powpacolypse by Thursday. Yeah, yeah, I know.....too early......

  16. There's a high probability that the horror stories will outshine the events from stuff I've been reading. There was an article in Powder a few months back about a few guys checking out Sochi and skiing. Sharpshooters out on the slopes and woods, sketchy "Dont enter or you'll get shot" zones. Sounds thrilling!
  17. Pushed it back to the weekend now, I'm hoping the Sun/Mon event will be more rain in Philly, then I'll head up Saturday or Sunday. I got a few branches down here, took down some neighbors wires but luckily it didn't shut off the power. Our street is closed off because of it. Glad I stayed home. I have a neighbor reporting any power outages in VT for me if it happens. I used to enjoy getting snow in Philly, now I hate it, its holding me back.
  18. Now I'm pushing it to Friday hoping the weekend and early next week gets a snow bomb based on early weather nerd whispering.
  19. I may hold off until Thursday and straddle the storms if next weekend looks bigger. I can only go up for 4-5 days this time.
  20. I'm heading to VT on Tuesday, storm track going into wednesday looks promising so far. 8-16" is sounding pretty tasty if it pans out. 3-4 inches in the past 24 hours at Smuggs and it its snowing there right now.
  21. Yeah, they have little ability or skillz to handle this. Solid entertainment to watch it on the news.
  22. There's some hope for things to start turning around the 4th, still too many "ifs" but that's better than nothing or warmup up with rains.
  23. This. If your goal is to hit as many resorts as possible, the greater concentration is here, then day trip to Montage, even stay at Chet's Place relatively cheap for Elk skiing. They can configure as many rooms/beds as you need. Cheap eats and drinks as well.
