  1. This is a great shot lightingwise and unreal varieties of clouds. Almost looks like 2 pictures fused into one. That almost godlike fountain of bright light appears to be coming out of the ground. Tres cool.
  2. Happy Bday, PASR, no TR's for me until at least next week. I've been dithering about when to head up to Smuggs; tomorrow, Sunday or roll the dice for some dumpage going into MLK weekend. Right now, pretty sure Fred and I leave Wednesday and hope there are no ice storms, which is a possibility.
  3. I thought this was a thread about me and my rad 1st aid kit. Carry on.
  4. have a safe trip and enjoy the snow!
  5. Got up at 6am, finished some cleaning up, plowed the driveway, shoveled the deck, yada yada, we ended up with an insane wind, rain, sleet storm that was dropping trees and limbs for a solid 5 hours. Holy shit, for a while I thought the Mayans were on to something. Power went out around lunch time just as we were closing the house. Soooooooooo.......we decided to stay to watch the house during the raging rain and wind. I was standing in the kitchen and watched a 60ft pine snap and fall. I set up the generator, made 3 trips to town for odds and ends, built a fire, set up the kerosene heater and got the Tv and frig running, emptied the cooler back into the frig, got takeout for lunch. By about 6pm I had everything dialed in and the power came on. On my last trip back from town I picked my nose and got a nosebleed. I came home and it started snowing. I'm on my 3rd heady topper and realized I coulda gone skiing for 3 hours this morning, let the rain wash away the snow in the driveway and deck, saved myself 100$ in gas and hardware and ended up with the same result. Crazy day.
  6. I got the hybrid, weekdays only and $25 for a ticket during blackouts and weekends.
  7. Haha! Well, when I come back up here I can post up when I'll be here so if a few of you want to carpool and come up last minute you can work that out amongst yer selves .
  8. Toast can restock the beers, you need to bring up some smoked pork product!
  9. Sure, you got a place to stay? J/k . Seriously, going into the second week of January and forward I'll make a few beds available for a coupla PASReenos to come up for a few days. Bring sleeping bags and towels and bevvies. No to Stowe, GSS.
  10. Been a resy since June. That was part of the plan. You won't be disappointed, snow pack is deep up[ high, some trees in play, next 24 hour weather pattern might tamp things down, but I think there's some good activity starting again on Sunday. We're cleaning up and packing this PM, heading back tomorrow. Awesome session this AM with a few early fresh track runs off Sterling, then a skin up with TC and TWD thru Doc's to FIS. Full frontal ejection on the last run. Hopefully, TC will post up some pix he took on TGR ECRC later. Even saw a little blue sky and sun before the clouds rolled back in. A real advantage to tour with a few quasi locals to learn the hills around here. Hershey highway and Keyhole got tracked for the first time this season. So much terrain, so little time to explore.
  11. Just bustin chops from my perch in snowy VT. Seriously hope this season is better than than last few for all the pokes
  12. There's so much snow, I built a fireplug outside my sliding door for the dogs to pee on.
  13. Still snowin........been non stop all day. Comin down harder now, tomorrow should be pretteh, pretteh, pretteh good. Gonna go build something with snow. Sweet, sweet snow
  14. I'll load the trailer and coolers with a snow and bring some back to Pa.
  15. It's been a good 10 days of skiing in the notch with a slow start when I got up here but the weather really came thru since Sunday, with a few minor setbacks but nothing that harmed the progress of base building and filling in the mountains up here. The past few days we're 3-5" days up top and then the afterburners kicked in with 12-15" above 3000 ft with refills today. Been skiing pretty hard with a few skins to the top of Madonna today, via Chilcoot, down Upper FIS, Doc Dempsey and then I lost track since I was at the back of the pack. Ropes dropped, ropes were ignored, it was full on goodness today. Still dialing in the new gear, I think the Cochise's are to big, I wasn't trnasferring energy into the turns so I swapped back to the Endorphins which made a big difference. I know a few peeps that day tripped to ME to harvest the big dump yesterday with tales to tell. Feels like the pineapple express is weakening and at least NE is starting to feel like a December I don't remember in the recent past. Was going to go home Thursday but that's been extended another day. How's the PA McSnow holding up? I'll try to post up a few pix when I get back. Happy Kwanzanukahmas to all teh PASRs.
  16. Elk is owned by a zillionaire family that still gets a nickel or dime for every VW sold in america from what I've heard, and only take cash at the bar, that's how secure they are financially. Can't compare their financials with Sno.
  17. A shame to hear about Sno. Are they not opening? I said I'd go there for the past 5 years. I feel like this is my fault. I guess my bid for the moose logo got a higher price.
  18. Full time student in CO. Livin the dream.
  19. I did my passport renewal thru the mail and the turnaround time was about 10 days about 2 months ago for my twice postponed euro trip in Feb. But yeah, if you have the time getting it manually it removes the USPS potential fuck up.
  20. Radlermass http://www.germanbeerinstitute.com/Radler.html The other beer mix is a Spaetze (sp) that's what they called them locally when I was a kid, Coke and beer, which I'll still drink on occasion. Sounds gross, but about 1/3 coke and 2/3 beer is pretty good.
  21. Wet fatties dropping in Philly. I'm thinking WV again if they get something closer to a foot out of this.
  22. Very limited FB for me. My SOS uses ground beef, mushrooms, onion, sour cream for starters. Curry/Cumin for a bolder taste. Nuthin like a strong curry breath for 1st chair in the AM!! TOPT for SOS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBj5iTRYZxI On topic: Flat light, light breeze in chilly Philly.......
  23. Doing some batch cooking to take meals up to VT and stock the freezer. Made a big batch of my own version of shit on a shingle. Cabbage soup next, maybe a lamb or beef stew and deep fried turkey later this week. Haven't even been following local weather here, I get local VT channels in Philly since September. Much healthier for the stoke market. There's a pretty good likelihood I wont post a single day of skiing in PA this season. It'll either have to be one of those rare day or 2 where Ma Nature delivers or things are bad in the NEK BEST LASAGNA ON THE MOUNTAIN!!! Even looks like a high altitude view of a mountain range!
