  1. FWIW, I had a decent time in Philly last season with all the snow we had
  2. Sweet, South jersey is supposed to get some. So much good skiing down there.
  3. Rummy? Anyone up there today? Is Tunk getting groomed out?
  4. I think with the $$ I save, I need to invest in some POV gadget. At least it adds a little more action to a TR. Maybe Santa will surprise me! I'm still noodling with some kind of set up that would let me use the iphone for that.
  5. A room would've cost me $194 + tax which included a lift tix and b-fast. That was the deal to stay at the Inn at Snowshoe at the bottom of the hill (6 miles away). More if I stayed at the top. Lift tix is $59/weekday, figure 12$ for b-fast, I prolly saved ~130$/nite once you add in the tax and out of town hoser fees. $390 stays in the Ski Fund. I estimate it costs me less than a gallon of gas/day to run the car for heat. On the flip side, I'll drop $50-$80/day on food/drinks, which I would do anyway if I'd get a room. Snowshoe is pretty isolated and I didn't find many other options besides resort rooms. A few of the mom n pop places at the bottom of the hill were closed. Not sure what they would charge.
  6. It's potentially unsafe and a waste of gas. I prefer sleeping in the cold anyway. It's just that 15 seconds of getting out of the bag and turning on the engine that's a real eye opener.
  7. The only time it sucks is when I have to reach in front to turn on the engine and run the heater. So, I think I'll get a remote ignition installed. Problem solved for less than a nite at a hotel.
  8. 1. Don't get married 2. Don't have kids 3. Stay outta casinos. 4. Just do it. Even more awesome was taking a leak in a 24oz empty coffee cup, in a one armed push up position inside the car, with a head lamp on.......at 3AM. Sorry, no pics of that, my other hand was busy aiming.
  9. A little video stoke from the trip. My first time splicing together something like this.
  10. Slaybells rang, I was listenig Slayed the pow, 'til I was glistening Fluffy dendrites What a beautiful sight Shreddin in a winter wonderland
  11. I took a few pics, prolly gonna wait until we'd to take more. iPhone pics only and it's almost impossible to use with gloves and liners. Sitting in the warm mancave moe-tel waiting forthe Junction restaurant to open @ 8am. Winds are super gusty so I'll prolly hold off getting a lift tix until after 9am when the lifts start spinning and see about wind holds. Snowshoe is pretty isolated and self contained. There is no main lodge to speak of which makes camping a little trickier but I've located all the necessities. Snow quality is super nice, not a whole lot of terrain open, good snowmaking, more later. Took me 7.5 hrs to get here. Driving thru squidbilly country is a slow process. 12. Good pow here, still snowing and -3 degrees at 7am. Winds gusting with chill factor in the minus teens. Skied my ass off yesterday, stuck to the Eagle express hi speed. Had the sawmill glades and lower part of sawmill trail to myself all day. Poorly placed signage kept everyone else off it. Boot to shin deep all day with free refills from Ullr.
  13. Up to 2' or more predicted for Snowshoe in the next 24-36 hours.......the Moe-tel is packed, heading out in 15 minutes. Let's hope the cold temps come quicker than predicted up here, you guys might get a little snow going into Monday.
  14. Enjoy the rain..the ice......the cookies....did I mention rain? Stoked for some snow, Bluegrass, toofless heffers, and hillbillies. Might have to add this to the road trip list.
  15. Upgraded from Winter Storm Watch to Winter Storm Warning.
  16. Bummer on the quad, pretty sure they posted it open on their site. Actually, I think they just posted Tunk open top to bottom, so I assumed the quad was running. No crowd = JADIP
  17. Quad is open, Tunk is open top to bottom. Post up how it was.
  18. If I roll solo, car camp. If someone goes along and wants to split a room, in a hotel.....motel.......holiday inn......
  19. They had a killer year last year compared to NE. Lulz! No, Takes me about an hour to get the car camp set up. Still waiting to hear back from a bud to see if he wants to go, then we'll get a package deal for 97/pp. I need to be back before Friday, and the NE forecast is pretty dicey. I see windholds, less snow, and icey up north as of tonite's models. Cheaper in WV, less driving. Knee deep fresh n natural outweighs vert and manmade dust on crust.
  20. I'm packin my car tomorrow with the intention of leaving Phlatadelphia Sunday AM. After reviewing forecasts up north, I'm thinking southbound will be the better bet at this point.
