Didn't even crack open the new issue yet. Nice write up. Another tidbit: Smuggs is the only resort in at least VT that has an unlimited supply of water for snowmaking ever since they laid pipe and a pumping station in the Lamoille River 2 years ago.

Season total so far is 221" and Smuggs tends to underreport. Gonna stay deep for a while, cold air is locked in with a little warm up Tues/Wednesday and a shot at another smaller dump of snow with a sprinkling of flurries. Then resumption of cold air and............................more snow into the weekend. Good time to be stuck in VT. If anyone is thinking of coming to VT, now is about as good as it gets.

These kicked ass today. I still have to get used to fingerless dexterity, but totally worth the trade off for warm digits.

Sunday funday, 15-18" with thigh high drifts. Went up early and skied 2 untracked runs off M1, Black Hole to Freefall, Then upper FIS to Dempsey's. Pristine powder, a wee denser than I thought. Temps started at 2 degrees and by the time I hiked over to Stowe it was a balmy 10 degrees. We met at the bottom of the Sensation quad and opted to stay on Spruce, low crowds and less chunder. Skied a run down Sterling and we opted to stick to some glades for less bumpiness. Stowe gets tracked out pretty quickly. Did 4 runs there and headed back to Smuggs. Dennis's daughter is on a race team and was up at Stowe for training. She tweaked her knee and he had to check out and take her home. Took him 3 hours to get to Stowe from S. Burlington; Mountain Road was a Joey show with baloney skin tires. Ryan and I did 2 bowl runs off Sterling to the Notch road. Temps started dropping below 0 and the winds were picking up by the time I got to my car. Still snowing pretty hard right now. I think we will total out over 20" by Monday AM. Now, I'm gonna "serve" Toast with pics.....cuz it happened. Gondy rides were unnecessary due to 10 degree temps and mild wind. So, maybe gondy pix another day. Smuggs conditions are way better than Stowe due to smaller crowds and slowski doubles. Quality over quantity rules. Just my opinion, still nice to be able to go over there. Stowe:

looks like a coupla inches down already on the cams
-
looking at current models, Blue should get 4-6" of dense with an ice shell.

ok

the waxing or the gondy rides?
-
Putting some cold temp wax on now. Stowe gondy rides are gonna be sweet for the next coupla days.

sweet spot has tracked north and we are in ground zero. south and central VT may end up with a mix. totals bumped up to 24" +. I'll take my powder neat, hold the ice.

good to hear they got the big runs open.

Nothing yet, we don't expect heavy snowfall until after midnite into Sunday AM and tapering off Sunday evening. We got a coupla inches off a clipper that sailed through last night. Otherwise, calm and overcast. Skied 3 pretty untracked glade runs this AM and came back to stack wood. Heading over to the pool and hot tub later to chill. Made some super potent infused oil that Mrs. Moe has been tripping on lately. Everything is funneh.

Hopefully there'll be enough to support the crust. Looks like it ends in rain with a deep freeze. Groomers will have to turn that into crushed glass.

Gonna be tits deep in the 802, south and central VT looks like the sweetspot. We should see at least a footy or more in the notch. Got my new mittens and gloves. Hiking over to Stowe for a couple hours Sunday and meeting up with a crew. Then a few finish laps at Smuggs. Monday might be a wind hold/frostbite situation with (-20) - (-35) windchill. Advanced spiciness! Midweek has another potential powder dump in the wings. Best January evah! -
sharpen those edges on yer crustbusters.

Top 15 deepest snowpacks in the US. Smuggs is #4. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.................. https://unofficialnetworks.com/2018/12/07/ski-resoerts-with-the-most-snow/

I'm ordering mittens. Advanced coldness today, but at least it wasn't windy.

Over my knees. I have to plow out trails for the dogs in the back yard. Heading out shortly for some non stop deepness......JADIP

Smuggs is 7" shy of JH snow totals this year. True story. Might surpass it by tomorrow. Best VT january since I moved up here.

Shitty situation so far for Blue. We're in baller mode and getting spooged in powder.
