  1. Nothing other than the guy calls in, says he's "Mike from Camelback, PA", Cramer asks Where's Camelback? Mike says Cmaelback is a ski place in the Poconos, Cramer says he was up in the poconos recently and then the guy mentioned a stock symbol for Cramer's opinion. But hey, that's free advertisement.
  2. Just the way I like it.....I'd rather be a little too cold than too hot. Makes me feel more alive on some days.
  3. I'm not getting any younger.........the boots a hybrid, so at least it's versatile.
  4. I'll be in J-hole for my wife's b-day that week, she STILL thinks it's in the southwest, lol, otherwise I woulda considered that trip as well.
  5. Tough call, because I don't comparison shop the ski club package. With frequent flier miles and sharing room/suite, etc, I'm sure there are cheaper options, but generally speaking I think the prices are competitive apples for apples. In other words, if you try to price it out same time, same accomodation tix, transport and whatever meal is included, etc, I'd think the price is competitive or a good deal. With that said, there's a lot of clubs out there, KOPSC just one of many. Supporting local ski clubs is another way to support the industry so it's all good. I'm looking at 2.70-3.00/gal into the new year compared to 1.80-2/gal last season. So, a bustrip might not be a bad way to go when roundtrip gas is factored in.
  6. CNBC host of "Mad Money". He has a call in segment, some guy named "Mike" called in and gave Camelback a plug and Cramer started talking about the poconos.
  7. Ski Clubs are always looking to expand membership and with fuel prices looking like they'll push higher into thee ski season clubs can be a decent option to flesh out a ski season with a trip or 2 where you let someone else plan out the details. The the trip listings are fairly decent this year. In addition to the Telluride trip (which is fully booked now) I though I'd list some trips being offered this year with prices. Membership for new members is $35 individual, $45 for a household, renewals are $5 less, you have to be 21 or older unless its a family thing. ( on that point, I've never seen kidsyounger than 21 on a trip yet, so I'm not certain on this point) Stowe: Bus trip Jan 8-10, 2 nites at the Commodores Inn, bfast buffet 2 day lift tix, bus/shuttle............$379 Sugarbush: Feb.5 - 8, 3nites at Bridges Condos, 2 day lift tix (3rd day tix for extra $45), superbowl party, round trip on bus.........$529 LP/Whiteface: Mar. 12-14, roundtrip bus, 2 nites @ high Peaks Resort, b-fast daily, 2 day lift tix, bus/shuttle to mountain......$419 Quebec, CA: Dec. 30- Jan. 3: R/T bus, 4 nites at Quebec City Marriott. this is more of a sightseeing trip, so without sking.........$519 with skiing: 2 day lift tix at Mont St. Anne or Stoneham resort: $100 and 1 day lift tix for LeMassif: $55. Crusty Butt: Jan. 15-20: RT air, all ground transfers, 5 nites lodging @ Plaza Condos, 4 day lift tix, Adventure Park voucher.........$899 Heavenly: Jan 23-30, R/T air, 7 nites @ Embassy Suites in S. Lake Tahoe, full cooked to order b-fast, 2 hours of free happy hour every afternoon, trip includes 3 of 6 days Heavenly tix and 1 day @ Kirkwood. Add'l Heavenly lift tix available for $39'day. Optional day trip to Squaw is being offered, including a Tahoe Queen dinner Cruise for an extra $138....................1659 with air transport or 1224 with no flight (book your own) Fernie/Whitefish: Mar. 6-13, RT air, bus.shuttles, 7 nites @ walk-out/ski-in accomodations at both resorts: 3 nites @ Timberline Condos in Fernie. 4 nites @ Kandahar Lodge in Whitefish, epanded continental b-fast @ Kandahar, 6 days of lift tix, 3 @ each resort............$1419 Cortina, Italy Feb. 21-28.....$1849.this one sounds like it might get cancelled, they're taking 8 peeps and still need 2 by Sept. 15. Edit: the Membership mtg is Sept. 15. If anyone wants details, lemme know or got to the KOPSC website.
  8. I don't wear pants until the first frost. But not wanting to ruin the visual, I wear cargo shorts..........FKNA!!!!!!!!! It's wet n cold out there, goodbye indian summer, hello early frost this year...BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Stylin, bro, {{{{{{{{taaaaaahhhhhhhhoe....taaaaaahhhhhhhhhoe...}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
  10. This board needs some positive stoke. I'm already in Hibernator mode..............
  11. Dude just called in to Cramer's show and said he was from "Camelback", PA, then mentioned it 2 or 3 more times.
  12. The downside of camping out is wet clothes and gear, bring plenty of dry stuff along to change into.
  13. Or sleep in a hotel lot, or another public lot that is well lit and wouldn't draw any attention to you, like a mall on 145, even better if there's something open 24 hours there.
  14. I'm heading out week of the 25th, still trying to decide if were gonna stay in town or stay at the village. Edit: I love all Pocono hills!!! just not equally. Especially Mount Assboyle.

  17. Pick up some fat boards, even you you rent them if Tahoe has some powlike conditions while yer there. I recall your CO TR and you wishin you had something bigger.
  18. Good to hear about the wee one, Congrats again and thanks for the info. I'd be interested in a Tux excursion if 'n when your contingency heads up there. Nobody I ski with does it.
  19. I haven't looked that far ahead yet, but Telluride is in the bag in Feb, JH looks like a clinch in Jan, and I'm determined to haul my ass up Tux next spring even if it kills me. Strictly day tripping at this point. I'm reading up on avy knowledge, checking out relevant threads on other boards, and working on getting myself in better shape than last season. My hope is to develop sufficient knowledge/skills to allow me to expand the ski season before/after the lifts stop spinning in addition to expanding the ski experience by trekking off the beaten path occasionally. At this point I'm just a kid in a toy store picking up gear for good prices. As much as I love tooling around resorts on a lift, I'm feeling the call to push it in a new direction. BTW, how's fatherhood treating you? Never heard back from you. Hope all went well.
  20. Gear that will get no use here. Used- Tecnica Icons: My boots, worn 4 seasons, no molding/custom work done. 9 1/2, 321 mm BSL, heels and toes are in decent shape, no buckle damage, no tears on the liners. Make an offer if interested. New- Wife's boots: These are Salomon Evolutions she NEVER wore. Long story short, she just had to get new boots many seasons ago (2000?) and due to health issues never skied again since then. Stickers and all the tags are still on em, no box. Size 23.5, 272 mm BSL. Paid 199 new, make an offer if interested.
  21. Hitting new slopes, putting together my AT set up (just bought a pair of Endorphins tonite), only another 3 weeks til Labor day. Then the real countdown starts.
  22. Signed up for a week in Telluride 2/13 -2/20 (Club trip), wife wants to go to J-hole for her b-day, that'll be 4-5 days end of Jan............IT'S ON, Biatches!!!!!!!!!!! Stoke level at 4.8.............
  23. It was only a momentary lapse, cup's half full again.
