I'm on the fence for tomorrow AM, I'll get up early and make a decision then. It's raining down here.

Any bonerific updates from Blue? Webcam shows snow falling, looks like big and wet flakes.

Keepin my eyes peeled for a set of Prophet 100's.

Thanks for the tips. I ended up stopping off at Wally World on 145 on the way back today to load up on ammo, and when I left the parking lot, Nestor's was 100 yards in the other direction so I blew it off.

Burglars steal cash from Blue Mountain Ski Area office

I'm in Philly. It's easier for me to get em done at WF or in LP at this point. I even thought of dropping them at Nestor's on the way back from Blue tomorrow if they can have them ready by Thursday when I head back up.

I thought about it, but my workshop is already over loaded with tools and stuff, I've been slumming it hard all season, and this'll be the first tuneup since the season started. Besides, I don't mind helping out the ski economy.

I was thinking of getting a quick wax and edge tune up, does Blue have a shop and where is it located? I tried dropping off my skis at REI last week, but they were over a week for turnaround time, so I blew it off. I may just wait and get em done at WF.

Depth of Powder = Stoke Fatness of planks
-
It's always nipple deep when you face plant and slide down the hill.
-
Fat skies will give you a better powder experience. I wouldn't ski anything less than 100 in the waist, or shorter than a 174-178 depending on your height and weight. Your legs will thank you.

Usually ends the 1st or second weekend in April conditions permitting.

I ignored foot pain for 10 years and finally had a top notch fitter deal with it. It's the best money you can spend. Get it done out there, that way you can test it out immediately and if it still needs a fine tuning you can bring it back in. If you get it done here and have problems out there, you'll end up paying twice.
-
Sounds like a reinsertion of the footbed and/or liner problem. If the liners are left out for an extended period of time they will swell up larger than when they are confined in the shell. Adjust the tongue of the boot as well before buckling up, The hotronic wiring wouldn't account for a loss of space, and the heat disc is pretty thin. One caution with the hottronic discs: If you take out footbeds and liners repeatedly to dry out your shells and liners, the disc can begin curling and it will feel like a knife blade on your foot after skiing a coupla hours. Make sure it's flush, otherwise re attach with some adhesive or replace the disc and wire. I discovered that problem on my trip to Jay.

Sugarloaf pass revoked for post on message board

The real shame is that Boyne's action has overshadowed the death of a young skier by generating internet buzz about a poster that really didn't say anything THAT offensive but may have been incorrect. -
This thread hurts my head.

Jay TR: Tuesday: Long azz ride to get there and back, about 9 hours. Checked in at the Snow Line Lodge, old school motelish set up, clean, lotsa knick knacks from Germany and Austria. Basic bfast of juice, coffee, and one of the following: eggs/bacon/toast; french toast/bacon; pancakes/sausage. Downside: water smelled like sulphur, so they prolly have a bad well. Nothing worse than brushing your teeth or taking a shower with fart water. I ended up using bottled water for oral hygiene. Had steak au poivre dinner and beers/wine at the Jay Village Inn, and crashed by 11. No new snow, temps in the single digits and getting colder. Wed: Up early, ate bfast and booted up at the Tram base lodge. I think it was around 4 degrees at the base, partly sunny. 0 crowds. We rarely saw anyone once we were skiing. Took the first tram up and spent the morning checking out that side of the mountain. It's generally colder and windier, and the forecast thru Friday was for colder weather. Snow was mostly packed powder, groomed out except for Poma Line which was bumped. Glades were tracked with untracked to be found on the flatter pitches like Beaver Pond and Andre's. If you aren't an experienced glade skier/rider these are good places for the less experienced. Jay offers something gladewise for all skill levels. We headed in for lunch around 12, bag lunched it (I brought a cooler up with soups, chili, etc) and then spent the afternoon on the Stateside, riding the Bonaventure and Jet lifts and pretty much doing U.N. ( Bumps) Upper Can Am to Lift Line (bumps) and making runs thru Kitz Woods and Bonaventure glades. We drank and ate at The Belfry for dinner, which is a great place to hang out if you go up there. Thurs/Fri: F'in cold and EVEN COLDER! Sadly, our luck with "where we go, we bring the snow" ran out. Other than some man made on Jet for a coupla days, we only got a few natural flakes while we were there. The top of the tram on both days was registering temps in the -10 to -20 range with fairly gusty winds on Friday. We both got white spots (frostbite symptom) on the cheekbones on our last run down on Friday. We traded off the warmth of the Tram and stuck to the Bonaventure and Jet lifts, skiing the runs and glades on that side. We met an instructor who let us tag along thru Timbuktu, Vertigo and a few other glade runs that were above our paygrade without a 3rd party native familiar with the hill. Dinner was at The Belfry both nites ranging from steak, burgers, broiled bleu shrooms and various apps. I developed a taste for Switchback and pretty much drank that for the duration. Sat: Sun was out, about 4 degrees and warming as we checked out and headed up to the Stateside lodge. It's the preferable place to park and boot, less crowded and on colder windy days that side of the mountain is better protected. The joint was hopping with Canucks and the lifts got pretty swamped by around noon. We skied thru lunch to take advantage of the lull in the crowd and since our legs we're pretty shot we stuck to the groomers, Jet had been closed for snowmaking for 3 days and re-opened Sat. morning, so it was a great speed and carve run to wind down a fun trip. Got home around 11PM last nite. Conditions: Packed powder and super packed powder on a few headwalls, but virtually no ice, and only a few bare spots scraped off in the chutes and woods. Occasional powder shots were in the woods. Only a few pix that I'll post up when I get them emailed to me. It was too cold to pull a camera out, take off a glove, focus, etc. and with overcast skies the lighting was lousy. It was prolly the coldest ski trip I've been on.

Hitting the road in 20 minutes, everybody have a good week, and fer crissakes, go ski and ride.
-
We stayed at the Mountain Sports Inn, close to the hill, on the access road, basic continental bfast, that was pre season.
-
Mine feel like a speed bag. Jay's still calling for some refreshers into midweek, and TGR TR footage still looks good for stash quest.
