  1. Current likely scenario puts midatlantic on the cusp, as usual. Crippling snow belt goes right over Jay.
  2. This has a lot of potential for a good dump, maybe even the Pokes, lol. Depends on how it tracks and how fast. Jet stream is bringing colder air into the NE/midatlantic so far and the current forcasting models keep it there. http://squall.sfsu.edu/scripts/namjetstream_model_fcst.html
  3. If you can't see your bases, you put too much on.
  4. Try one of those green scrubby pads and hit the lumps, then run a few passes tip to tail with the pad and see if that smooths it out. Dont scrub widthwise only lengthwise. and put some paper or plastic on the floor, cusz it'll be messy.
  5. My buddy is banned from CA and we're taking his car with the breatholizer ignition gizmo. Snowline lodge is only a few short yards from the Jay bars, so we plan to park and walk once the libations commence. We usually load up a car bar with beer/wine and liquor as a plan B and cut down on the bar tabs. Thanks for the tips.
  6. Trip is booked for next Tues-Sat. Discount tix, bfast, room with 2 beds. 99/pp. Closest non jay lodge lodge to the base........BRING IT THE F ON!!!!!!!! MORE SNOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!
  7. Definitely, it reflects poorly on the groomers if there's untidy piles of pow.
  8. We're planning a 4-5 day trip to Jay Peak to replace the Banff trip. Looks like they're getting good snow recently. Anybody skied up there in the past coupla seasons? Stash stories? Never skied there, so I'm stoked to check out the good pow and glades. Looks like they'll accumulate almost 2 ft of fresh by tomorrow nite. Some freeheeler friend of ours rec'd the Sno Line Lodge, close to the base and has a cool pub inside as well. Anyone ever stay there?
  9. Turnpike wasn't bad, I've driven in waaaaay worse.
  10. Works for me. Any PASR deal like JFBB offered?
  11. I'm out. We're heading for Jay for 4-5 days next week into the weekend, which should mean a good snowfall when we get there.
  12. Sno is on my hitlist for this season since I haven't been there since the Montage days. We didn't feel like going there on our 2 previous Elk trips, so I'm looking to day trip it there. Maybe 1st week of March?
  13. Thanks for the TR, we're heading out there 3/7-3/14 for Pow Mtn and Snobasin. Lotsa weather can happen between now and then

    ouch

Looks like his tips got pushed up by a combo of wind and/or velocity spreading his legs and flipped him on his back. Ugly wipe out.

A short TR: Wed: Hit Blue for a 3 hour session on Wednesday, snow was decent, we skied for free cuz the scanner guy was fumbling with his sandwich baggy in the little booth and waved us thru. Steezy, since we were sporting our flex pass. Now we got 7 trips instead of 6. Left Blue by 3PM and drove up to Elk. Checked in at Chet's and had a good time at the bar eating and drinking until 1AM, met a coupla liftees and a bunch of locals shooting the crap about the area, real estate, Elk, etc. Thurs: Up and at em by 6AM, backtracked to the Elk Diner in Clifford for b-fast and were on the lift by 8:40AM. Overcast, flat lite, in the high teens, no wind. The whole mountain was open, including Lehigh, we spent the day lapping Lackawanna, Tunkhannock and Chipewa, all ungroomed at their top half. Basically, continued working on bump technique and getting a great workout to boot. We named Lackawanna "A cups", Chipewa "B cups" and Tunkhannock "C cups". By the end of the day we had a whole new lexicon of bump lingo, mostly tit related with a few stripper references, lol. Conditions were good, bumps were a little hard in the AM (implants), but we managed to soften them up by lunch time. Took a short lunchbreak and skied til 3:30, then headed back to Chet's. Drank and ate until about 10:30 and crashed. Fri: Packed up our gear with blue skies, 22 degrees at 7AM, Eyeopener sandwich/coffee at Elk, and a bunch of friends rolled into the lodge as we were heading out. Pretty much ran the same 3 ungroomed runs, with a few groomer runs with the ladies. Temps gradually worked their way to around 40 and it was a sweet day snow wise and bump wise. Finished the day with a run down Lehigh cuz we never checked it out, it's pretty much a long azz Lazy Mile, but it had some nice views from that side of the hill. Caucasians in the bar and we hit the road by 5PM. Only pix I took were scenic and/or of Chet's Place.
  17. We're planning a trip to WF and Maine or VT in Feb. Timing will be based on weather events.
  18. Good to hear you you had a good time. JFBB does a nice job with their snow from what I saw. That was my first time there on Saturday.

    Friday 1/23 FYI

Elk's having Winterfest on the 23rd, discount tix are available at participating ski shops, including Salter's. Check Elk's site, under "Special Events" for a list of shops offering tix.
  20. Nice lite snow falling in Philly again.
  21. Left to right: Non-PASR friend of ThinkSnow, Joe; GSS; ThinkSnow; Phillycore (that jacket is an optical illusion, Core looks like he's got a 34" waistline, lol); Bob and SexKitten; Melissa; PA Ridge Racer; me.
  22. Actually, Bob fell on the radar gun and knocked the calibration off by 8 mph, so you came in last. Lotsa fun meeting up with everyone and checking out JFBB. Good snow and grooming. Everybody skis well, and I give Melissa the "Ripper of the Day" award for her understated skills and 2 beer lunch program! Sexkitten was knocking down JF diamonds like a champ.
