    17/18 Season Update

Wow, did not realize they were that much. Wife lived in NH and had the pass for Loon and others and were less than $300, especially if college students or residents. Going out west, yes, daily passes are nuts but the season passes were quite reasonable. I suppose if you live up there and can go every day makes sense.

But not even Vermont is $800, no?

$800 for a season pass? WTF?! That is more than skiing out west. lol. I have never skied Elk but.... why $800?
  4. Was just about to say this. One of the advantages of not renting in blue is waiting in that god awful line. In either case, I don't see the appeal of paying $130 to rent, unless you really abuse your equipment and ski more than once a week. But, if you do ski more than once a week, you likely have your own choice of equipment anyway. Then the choice is... pay Blue $130 for beat up equipment hundreds of people used before you, or spend $250 (for kids) or $350 for adults for very good new last years or older stock from a number of online stores? Then, you can still sell it and recoup most of your money back.
  5. hehe, Dynastar Skicross, I had those I think as first skis.
  6. Ah I miss Loveland. lol. Then again any skiing out there is better than a great day in Mid Atlantic. =) Looks like that pic is from opening day?
  7. It's been how long now? Was wondering about "coming soon" for a while.
  8. Wait... this isnt a joke? They are only paid $5.25 an hour? This explains EVERYTHING! Does Ski Patrol get paid? Do they break $7 an hour?
  9. stoke is sooo up for tomorrow. Gf and i will be up around noon.
  10. ie Switchback is good for tomorrow? =) wondering if to hit camelback or blue tomorrow. though blue after 4.... should be good for half price.
  11. Humn, weird. Shawnee opens before Blue Mt. http://www.shawneemt.com/ opening Sat. Anyone going?
  12. I am fairly sure it is the inspection today. They were ready to go for tomorrow but now push it back a week. Oh well. But I do hope high speeds are running by then. So humn, where to ski this weekend. Take a chance on Camelback or go up to catskills.
  13. Was the Giuseppis pizza there before? There are a few here in jersey and they are GOOOOD.
  14. So the top of dreamweaver, the part that is under construction, is that going to be nightmare, or that will be dreamweaver and nightmare is a new trail that was cut? sorry, but I dont live in PA. =)
  15. Wait, so dreamweaver now goes from a tougher blue to a double black diamond? what did they do to change it?
  16. So is the top of dreamweaver going to open this year? just wondering. =)
  17. Went to Blue last night/afternoon from about 4:30 till 9:30. some trails were hit and miss... after a warmup run on easy out/burma, then tut's/lazy/falls, went on dreamweaver. Top part was great... but then the bottom section right where it merges into Paradise.... talk about whales in the middle the size of moguls on main st/bumps, and iced out bulletproof paths in between.... wow. Trail of the day was def Raceway... top part, bottom was a bit scrapped off... but not even close to where Switchback was.... wow. I can defnitely relate to what someone was saying here before when I was asking about least difficult blacks.... Switch back was defnitely the most difficult of the day... not only was it all scrapped off, but was extremely difficult to hold an edge as it was so slippery. As far as venturing on my firsts blacks at blue... after hidden valley, can def say that Hidden valley is steeper, but went on Falls, and then was lapping raceway... talk about fun. Thanks guys.
  18. that just made my day. Just had an image of a guy in black socks, board shorts, tshirt and a 357 revolver holstered on the side... straight out of the movie Reno 911, actually, I think i will go watch it now.
  19. Any sunday works.
  20. x3. Worse off, i dont know if having hte thought of falling, and a potentially crappy gun going off. =P Or more importantly... between which layers are you packing? =P And then I am sure a polymer glock or h&k wouldnt be as cold in 7 degree weather. And once again... I am not talking about carrying to protect your gear from being stolen.... but packing for personal defense.
  21. Obviously.
  22. No, I was not kidding. I am from jersey, so we do not do concealed carry. Me Personally? I would probly leave in a locked car, but in all honesty, I am sure there are people that do. And lets be honest, who would really be pulling over boards/skis? I merely refrence the theft post as someone mentioned packing there.
  23. Well, if Ski patrol gets in your face.... =P But to follow up on that though... wasnt thinking about the theft in particular... but rather if the resorts themselves had any say about it? Like in Jersey, concealed carry is mainly limited to retired LEO's. But in PA different ballgame.
  24. Thanks for all your help guys. Just an update.... had member for a day passes at Hidden Valley in NJ. Skied the mountain pretty much all day and did hit a few of their black runs. It was in my mind more so than I thought. First few runs just was making big gs style carved turns, then just started carving through a bit faster. Good stuff. Defnitely made skiing more fun and a bit more of a challenge. The runs at Hidden Valley were a bit steeper than what i saw at Blue not including Razor's and Challenge headwalls. Felt good and confident. Thanks guys.
  25. So the thread about the theft at blue got me thinking.... since PA allows concealed carry... anyone know of anyone packing heat on the slopes? Obviously no names.... but just wondering.
