Bear creek Can Classic July 8th or something like that
PASKIINGSUCKS replied to PASKIINGSUCKS's topic in Bear Creek
Tooshay good sir, well done. Doug, as appealing as that sounds I think I'll pass on shacking up with you and 7 of your cornhole buddies. Part of me wants to stay at that hotel sometime just cause it's so baller, but I can't bring myself to do it as i could actually walk home from bear creek in about 10 minutes. Course if I did stay there that would mean I could use those fancy ass brand new tennis courts they got up there. Wonder if they're open to the public. Somethin tells me getting shitfaced and hanging with the grilledsteeze would actually be a good time. -

Yeah, I didn't feel like checking my spelling. Quoits or whatever. You know what the hell I mean haha. The little saucer shits that I'm really terrible at throwing and are damn near impossible to get a ringer with. Pretty sure they invented the game of horseshoes just so it'd be easier to ring it round the pole. Your punctuation is about as bad as my spelling. Was that a question or what?? Text form communication will be the downfall of all social interaction, you heard it here first. I'm just stoked to get drunk and throw some metal shit. -
I must say I am really enjoying bear creek putting on so many alcohol related events. This one seems to be right up my alley. All kinds of beer in can form and all kinds of backyard beer drinking games. Shoes, quates??, beanbag cornhole stuff, ladder ball, you know all that drunken BBQ stuff. Anybody see this advertised or interested?? I'll take any one of ya on in some shoes if ya think ya got skills.

Jay Peak Ownership Buys Burke Mountain

IMO it's a blend between the vibe, a fun layout to the mountain, and a strong local showing rather than a tourist destination. -

Not really a desire to go, I mean I would, but it's just not really on my list right now. If I'm going to a new place in VT this year it will be magic. I just mean I'm more itching to get back up to Maine to explore the new stuff at the loaf and saddleback. -

The hell with burke, I've also been wanting to hit saddleback for the last year or two. Now they got that woods expansion going on and it even looks more enticing. It's been too long since I've been skiing in maine. My icon is actually me skiing at sugarloaf on easter, had a full bunny suit on and got a free ticket a few years in a row when I used to visit a buddy in college up in fort kent. -
Doubt it, word on the street is they already have more weddings scheduled than they had last year. The skiing ain't keepin that place alive and it never did. I'd love to see some of the other losing numbers from around our fantastic keystone state. I wouldn't be surprised if they still had the snowmobile race, it was a huge hit last year and everybody knows sledders don't give a crap about runnin on 2 inches of snow. I'm just glad we closed early enough for me to catch the tohickon release this weekend down at ralph stover. Closing day was a hoot, even enjoyed some of steve walker's dead covers. Little disappointed we got the boot from ski patrol as we were still grillin burgers after 4 but in hindsight it was probably a good idea.

YUP YUP, working 2 hours then grabbin a cold one. Good luck to all you pond skimmers.
-
Who's are those??? I feel like I've seen these hanging out in the shop.
-
I wouldn't go that far. An odd dude maybe, but I'd ski with him again.

I'm sure it was doug, nice trollin, ya got me. Im gonna start acting like a turd all the time too under the guise of trolling, I mean it seems to be working so well for you. Ya i'm so immature to have a second job. I park crew at night and design packaging 40 hours a week for a real wage. Excuse me for taking an interest in my local hill, something you know nothing about I'm sure.

Not too out anybody's personal info on here, but I feel it should be said that you are "that's what she saiding" a girl that is surely much younger than you and it's semi creepy. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that I'm sure you've never met molly. Try to behave a little bit more douglas, I mean you're not even really using it right anyway and I'm failing to see the humor.
-
what molly said, the snowmobile races are a big hit up there.
-
they plan on blowing the next two nights as well if they can.
-
I'm sorry, all I heard there was "morning crew is slackin again, but making excuses this time", maybe if those jerks on night shift last night would have worked harder this wouldn't be a problem. I can't imagine there is even anyone there to complain about it though as its been pretty dead lately. We totally got you guys, magged all those lips super hard last night once they were rutted just for you buddy. Btw, who stacked all our skis in a teepee last night??? That was kinda funny I gotta admit. but seriously now, am I missing something or what, if they blew last night why didn't they groom the lips this morning with the machines??? Were the ruts so bad the groomers couldn't even do anything about it.
-
I have heard that while the fling has been moved back that they are not officially calling it closing day. If they are really ambitious they could possibly blow early next week. We'll see I guess. They might have to blow after this weekend anyway just to make it to the fling date.

Tourist trap shmourist trap, I don't care, that place serves a mean breakfast. Just outside rutland in like mendon or something, ya can't miss it cause it's a huge wood building with a large parking area on the left. Eat upstairs to stay warmer in the morning.
-
They got at least twelve more days in em. Only major dirt spot I saw was in baby park yesterday. It'll be warm the next couple days but they've got plenty to push around. They're open into march for sure. Not too much I hope, I got plans to kayak the 16th. We'll see how it pans out for the slopestyle on Sunday??

Go just a bit past killington and visit the long trail brewery and restaurant. Get off 89 before bolton in waterbury and visit the alchemist brewpub and restaurant. Go a bit further north on 100 and visit the cold hollow cider mill, go in the morning for fresh cider doughnuts. Alchemist is just off 89 in town, cider mill might be 5 or 10 minutes up 100 if I remember correct. If you've got the time drive past bolton into burlington and visit the magic hat brewery for some cheapish growlers. I like beer what can I say.

Not calling you a liar, but park crew ALWAYS rake runs together, so I find it hard to believe you frequently see just one guy out there. The jumps are tricky, we have been trying to get at them more recently but they can be a pain. If the groomer doesn't get em dead flat we chip away at ice for a long time trying to get em flat and often just pull up chunks just making it worse. It's also easier to work em when it's soft, so crusty nights is not when you'll see us putting a ton of time into them(I'm only speaking as night crew). Also they don't usually even look that bad. The landings get choppy sometimes but there isn't much we can do about that with rakes and shovels. Is it my turn to complain now???? How come you guys still attempt to hit jumps when skis/patrollers/people/poles are clearly closing the lip because someone is injured in the landing? How come my skis block a lip and I'm standing there raking the lip, yet you still huck a massive 1 foot air off the lip endangering myself and you? How come you say we don't fix stuff enough, yet when we are out there fixing a lip I hear so many moans and groans that we're blocking the feature you wanted to hit again for the 50th time that night??
-
Sick alias chief. I'm on night shift so I don't show up til between 2 and 3. It is critical to rake run before the sun goes down to flatten everything before it freezes up. Congrats you completely missed my point. I agree morning crew could do better, we switched some guys around recently and I have a feeling it'll get better soon. And FYI I work a full 8 hours before I even show up to bc to shovel anything. I'd bet you don't even work, hell you sound like a bitter person stuck in the midwest.
-
Thanks very much for your concerns and opinions, we will surely take it into account and do our best to improve the situation. Building before blowing all night would be silly, you clearly are out of your element if you're making statements like that. We laid down a solid rake run yesterday just before dusk, maybe you missed us. The heavy snow and the rain packed things down like cement and I didn't see a rut all night. Glad you think we're a bunch of bums though, I'm sure you'd shovel twice as hard if you were on crew. Perhaps you weren't there monday when we spent a solid two hours diggin out every feature after they blew all night sunday. Or maybe you weren't there the days we used three guys to change the skate rail to an up rail and hand built a lip, or when we reversed the dfd and hand built three lips just so you guys could have something different cause we knew a build wasn't happening. I got a pair of black lines with a white NS sticker, if you see me standing out there smoking and you have an issue with the park by all means I invite you to stop by and let me know. I'd be happy to grab a rake and follow you to whatever feature you think could use some work. Sadly though I think this is just a case of "you can't please all the people all the time". You're not bitter cause you didn't make it into finals are you??
-
Baby park, it's for beginners. You don't learn to drive on a racecourse and you don't start kayaking by attempting whitewater, so why should you be in the park if you can't turn properly?? I'm not saying you can't do any of these things, but it helps to practice the basic fundamentals first before you step up to the extreme end of any sport ya know?

Don't know, once they carted him off that was the last we heard of it. I'd bet it was the duct tape wrapped around both his thighs that led to too little wind resistance and far too much speed for the jump. That was a gaper style I've never even seen before. Maybe we need like a big yellow flag a la nascar, we could stand on the jump waving it when someone gets hurt haha.
