  1. I understand yall are making yourself look like fools acting like it's some big deal spring is open 3 days earlier than Bear. Mountains out of molehills my friend.
  2. I think it's dead, but go ahead and keep beating that horse if you like. I'd rather play frisbee golf at bear than ski one trail at Spring. Only a bunch of PA gapers like us would argue over who's better cause they open with one trail 3 days before the other. Bear could open top to bottom right now if they wanted I bet, it's just a better decision to wait til the next three days of 50 degree temps are over first. Look I'm not ecstatic that BC is taking this long either, but as things are right now I think they are making the better choice.
  3. Nice lines, I'll be on chronic wides from like 6 years ago. Guess I should break out the wax and edger to giv'er a little tune tonight.
  4. Hardly, I bet bear pulls in more money than spring this weekend without even having any trails open. Spring's not even on bear's radar. How many days last year do ya think Spring set record numbers for ticket sales?? Bear creek fills four lots the size of springs with visitors, I doubt they are concerned that spring is open before them. Really we're getting off track here though, lets take all this talk into the spring mountain forum........oh wait that's right PASR doesn't even legitimize Spring with their own forum haha. nuff said
  5. A loose cannon?? haha well that's a first. I don't usually ski with gapers but I guess I could make an exception to take a few laps with the incomparable GSS, just so long as you don't start freestyling on the lift or something. just kidding man, this'll be my first day out so I'm sure I'll be rusty, might require a mandatory safety meeting before I hit the hill. Smart style and all that ya know.
  6. A guess yes, 20 years of skiing shitty PA hills hardly makes it uneducated. Really though, you gotta admit, spring is pretty much the crappiest hill in PA. Good on em for opening this early with such bad weather though, I'll give em that. I wouldn't go there for one trail though, hell I don't even go there when the whole mountain is open. I mountain bike there in the summer and that's about it.
  7. Yeah good point, I bet the crowds are just mobbing the place right now. I could care less, I'm glad BC is waiting. Spring spread everything out so they can ride on it and it's all gonna melt away in the next three days. BC's sitting on piles and will open solid next week. I'd bet the guests splashing in BC's pool are having more fun than the gapers scraping down death cookies over at spring. Let's be serious, that place is hardly worth mentioning. They got that awesome ropes course though and a hell of a hayride.
  8. Dude, they're charging 5 bucks for monday. VTski, I'm on the oldest PC known to man here at work, can't view the webcams, or any other vid on the web for that matter. Let me guess though, one shitty white stripe down the front next to their shitty double chair right?? They really have no right to be bragging that they're open, also I bet they don't even make it through the weekend.
  9. Nice, I'll try and get there that early but I can't make any promises as the flyers fuel(yuenger) is sure to be flowing tonight for the pittsburgh game. How long do you guys stay usually, just til 10 or so?? Regardless, I got a big white toyota truck. Most likely riding in yellow jacket and black pants on black skis with a NS sticker or two. GSS, I assume you roll in that big rapevan with the free candy sign on the side??
  10. They've got plenty of snowmaking. I'd love to see what spring has right now. I've never seen better conditions there than at BC. Although I did just score two free tickets to spring so it looks like I'll end up there at least once this season.
  11. Looks like they are saying monday the 2nd with a hike park on Black bear and drifter open again with the e chair.
  12. Is there a ticket window at lower?? I assume I gotta show the employee pass for a ticket for the day??
  13. When do they open, or about when do you guys rally the troops??
  14. Got the all clear for the day off tomorrow. Might head up to check it out in the morning, don't know if I'll make first chair though as the flyboys are playing the pens tonight. I'll probably spend most of the day there though. How's that new grille they got for lunch fare??
  15. no no, he's right, says so right on their wall. Now honoring neighboring employee passes. I gotta see if I got any paid time off left. Hell I might drag the snowboard out for this one and do some knuckle draggin.
  16. You get this info from the bookface or something?? I might have to make an appearance to try and touch the sky.
  17. You're hilarious Doug. I bet they could, and what be open for tomorrow then watch it all melt over the weekend?? Does BC really have a hundred day policy??? That's pretty ballsy for this area.
  18. Dude it's supposed to be dang near 50 for the entire weekend. Why waste the energy and water if you ask me. Next week looks like solid low temps for the whole week, they might as well wait 4 days or so.
  19. It was pretty brown last year when we closed I know that.
  20. Well that sucks, they should know that pretty much any liftie or park crew fella is gonna spend 10x what the average gaper will on beer at the bar. Especially considering current conditions.
  21. So I take it this means they will also honor an employee pass from BC??? Uh I might have to get "sick" on friday morning. I hate to say it, but right now I'm kinda hoping bc doesn't open til like the 3rd. I'm scheduled to work the same time as the winter classic and I don't wanna miss it.
  22. If you two are done maybe we can graduate middle school and get this thread back on track. Justo, I don't feel bad for anyone dropping 500 on a pass to bear. There are other ways.
  23. Cool, you're not happy with bear creek's decisions, big surprise. Kindly keep your simple math in the Elk forums if you're just gonna come in here to talk down on a mountain we all know you dislike already. "Oh well Elk's got three great trails open", no kidding. They are also about 2 hours north of BC in case you forgot.
  24. I've always wanted to get to one of the WV resorts. Snowshoe's stats look good, 5,000 feet up and 1500 vert sounds good. 70% beginner and intermediate terrain, not so much. canaan and timberline look interesting too. Always thought about driving down there every time a major storm goes south of us here.
  25. Oh for sure, they'll be adding acres like crazy............sometime after christmas probably. Weather looks terrible til then, don't quote me on it though as I'm just shooting from the hip.
