  1. Possibly stowe for the first weekend in march. Still working out lodging. HEADS UP!!!!!!! The February 09 issue of Transworld Snowboarding Magazine has a tear out flyer for a 3 day pass to stowe for $99 Get em while they're hot, me and my buddies gathered about a dozen to soften the financial blow while we're up there. Good luck finding one though.
  2. I bought off of Newschoolers.com, I just insisted upon COD that way I could see them before paying and it was a sure fire way not to get ripped off. NS has a lot of members so there is a little more variety to used stuff for sale.
  3. Just search this and other boards to buy used. I got used 177 line chronic wides last year with look binders for about 3 hundo shipped. Great deals to be had.
  4. I just built a shed last fall for this exact reason, and promptly filled it the next day. At least the GF stopped complaining about gear in every corner of the house. Now i just have to battle the shed gauntlet any time I wanna go do something.
  5. Great now that giant limb can come down on my house. Living out of town on a hill is great for snow, not so much the wind.
  6. Magic Hat mardi gras in burlington last week in FEB. I'm sure the conditions up there are a bit more forgiving. We'll probably tip-toe around bolton valley again as I'll be riding with 3 novices. I might break off alone to get the goods at some point though. I'd love to make it to jay while up there but I doubt it will happen. I can't believe for the second time this season I'm gonna be in burlington and not skiing jay Maybe I can run away for a morning session or something.
  7. That was a late night post after some whiskey and finishing the magic hat growlers. Me and my two friends (non-skiers) decided it would be a good time to hit the backyard at around 10 last night. They had fun just trying to get into the skis, I made my one buddy use my lines and reactors He couldn't get em on and off for shit. It is cool to finally be at a point gear wise wear I can outfit 2 other people and me. They had a blast on the black diamond backyard, I had some fun too with some switch pow runs. This is what you get at the bottom of your ski hill when you live next to an old farm house. Great night, not a bad storm after all.
  8. Bout 4" fresh here around bear creek. Tracked out the back yard. pics maybe??
  9. BC mountain cams still look like it's coming down steady. I need a webcam on my backyard
  10. I was thinking about a trip to new york this weekend, if it falls through I might get in on this. I could pick up anyone on the way and I'm in BC area. Barto to be specific.
  11. We'll see how it plays out today, I'm not ready to call it a bust yet. I didn't see any rain out of it yet so I'm not that pissed. If it snows all day like it was this morning BC may end up with around 3 or 4 inches of fresh. Coming back from VT last weekend and their 16 or so inches is kind of a kick in the pants though. Good thing I got 6 growlers of magic hat straight from the brewery to keep me happy. /claim
  12. For the extremely cheap and very very rustic route, grab your tent and 0 degree bag and sleep on the AT it's just down the road from pico. I don't think it has a continental breakfast though, it is free lodging on the other hand.
  13. Up around bear creek it started last night around 7 as flurries. Woke this morning to about an inch and it was still coming down pretty steady. We'll see how much we get today. If it's enough I may have to go pick up some pvc rails and set up the back yard.
  14. I might get up this weekend, myself and some boarder friends might stay up in Bradford county PA around wyalusing then drive up to greek peak on saturday. Any other mountains in that area anyone knows of???
  15. I'm thinking about it. How does it connect, rain gutter clamps????? I've never owned a roof rack of that style before.
  16. Hey I never said it but if you drop off the property waaaaaaaaayyyy skiers right you might just find the caves, or somebodies back yard. I wouldn't recommend that though. I guess you could get away with skiing the mtn. bike trail over there though.
  17. There is a fun little woods run at BC but it's real short and there needs to be more snow than now obviously. When you ride the new quad way over on skiers left, everyone knows when you get off you can proceed straight and then bear right into that patch of woods and make your way over to the old snack shack. This is where I also have fond memories of sparks coming from our skis. Another good little one though is in that same area. As soon as you get off the quad go right, now your standing at the top of the skiers left old mogul run. Look just to your left and there is a little access path in there that runs parallel to the steep mogul run but it's just in the woods about 15 feet. It pops you right back out at the bottom of the run. It's a little fun in there but wait for more snow. It's nothing great but a different little trail at BC that's for sure.
  18. Not really interested in the jam, but I'll be up tomorrow morning just for fun. My first time at BC this year, and I live right down the road
  19. I don't get up there much, but we just took a bus trip there on new years day. I'll slide a little TR in here for those interested. Jan. 1 arrived around 9 to temps around 20s and about 4-6 inches of leftover on the sides. Nice soft snow all day, looked like the woods were pretty covered but I didn't get in there. It was a GF training day for me so I had to stick to the greens and blues so as to not scare the lady friend. Overall good day though and the mountain looked like it was in good shape for this time of year. ++++ magic hat circus boy and notion on tap too!!!!! Wonder how they're making out after all this crap.
  20. Bought one today for the gf with no issues so it's still on if you don't have one yet.
  21. Now that sounds like somebody who has been skiing in PA for a few years. We get rain all dam winter around here, sooooo I don't really ever hope for an early opening. I just jump in the car and head to VT for the early season fix.

    Crash Pads

It is proven that bruises and minor fractures actually grow back tougher than before. Some of the toughest guys in sports I know are that way because they have taken so many shots that they are now walking bricks. I'm not gonna advise not wearing pads, because it is a personal choice. I will however say that I choose to take lumps and let them heal in order to build tougher muscle. By all means if your concerned about injury just wear the pads that you are worried about, or if you have an existing injury or bruise then cover it with a pad so it won't get worse. For those saying you can't control a fall, I have to disagree to a certain extent. Yes accidents happen and sometimes you can't see them coming. On the other hand I have seen many people break wrists because of the poor practice of reaching out to "catch" your impact. There are ways to control crashes and reduce injury, like I previously stated if you pull your limbs in toward your body before an impact you get them close to your core and the whole of your body takes the impact rather than breaking a wrist. Of course I did just start wearing a brain bucket last year though, so I'm stating a biased opinion toward no pads.
  23. Maybe bear creek can loan them some money.
  24. I'll be surprised if they even blow snow before december.
  25. Did they say anything about clipping less tickets this year??? I'm just gonna try telling em I skied into the trees to take a pee.
