  1. I GOT A WITNESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally! Someone tell Nick Malozzi 50 days on the snow this year and not ONE PASR member ever said hello to me.
  2. Richard When I refer to blind turns what I mean is that for the speed you ride and the amount of turn you take..... I don't want to zip around a turn or drop into a headwall and discover there is no way to avoid smashing a SPORE. So I like to stick to very wide open spaces with enough view to avoid things like last rites. You can find me. Red jacket...white lettering.
  3. I have made the bus appointment for Thursday. I will be on the snow at 11AM and off the snow at 3PM. That's my bus window for Blue. I appreciate the input on the hills and lifts. I won't be experimenting on black diamonds. So whats the scoop with attendance numbers? Midweek with warm weather like this we get a handful of people at JF. IS BLUE getting much traffic on paradise or is the place empty midweek? And if it is totally empty I wonder if SP will even bother me at all.... at any speed. With such warm weather ...and some rain.... I can't imagine there being anything but mashed taters slush on Thursday which will slow me down. I will play on paradise and I will video record the ride...and anyone who tries to tell me how to ride there. It will be the first time ever I go there so I guess it will suck if some dick gives me shit for trying out a new mountain on the warmest day of the year in slush in the rain. But hey...you know us snowboarders.... we ride anything, ice, snow, mud, grass, handrails...... we pay for lift tickets even in the rain.
  4. It was 40 degrees at noon so most of the groomed cord was still firm and rode real fast with nice control. Real fast, real good coverage, really nice conditions today. I got video ,,,,, will post later . JADIP at JF
  5. This sort of goes along the line of what ROOTDKJ was talking to Barb about. I don't do narrow steep black diamonds but I do go VERY fast. So when I go to Blue Mountain and I find a wide open hill that is marked beginner or intermediate GREEN or BLUE I don't think GREEN or BLUE means BE A TRAIL WHORE and slipslide back and forth real slow across the whole hill using up every square inch of the hill. I look it and pick the width of a sidewalk to shoot down the hill. So what hills at Blue are most like Jack Frost Lehigh or Exhibition that has wide long open space and NO black diamond headwalls, narrow shoots, or blind turns........ that SP won't kick me out for riding like I ride on Lehigh at JF.
  6. My plan for the weekend got totally wacked, Depending on other people for a ride sucks...its like being 15 years old again.... old enough to drink but never get a ride to the parties. I ended up teaching the snowboard lesson at JF ...got video here: http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13747
  7. That's one reason I like Jack Frost so much. They only close for rain if there's lightning.
  8. I'd be damn pissed off if I arrange for bus service to Blue and get told GO home when I get there by bus. When do they make the decision to close? WHAT TIME is the EARLIEST they will notify the public that the lifts are closed that day?
  9. Don't know why but youtube is not showing the video
  10. YES I must agree there..... Lehigh really was groomed nice today. They said they had to push snow up from the lower part of Lehigh to maintain the headwall so there sometimes is different contour to the runout. Either way.... today I had one of my fastest rides of the season on Lehigh and its not what I expected at all. Exhibition had some glacier ice at the entrance on top but the hill itself had nice snow all the way down. I could easily find sweet spots for long runs in the middle or on the right side near the trees that still had cord or non-sticky powder until about 2PM. The few places getting nasty were easily avoidable because its such a wide hill.
  11. weather.com says rain Thursday. I'll ride in the rain at Blue Thursday. They won't close for rain Thursday...... will they?
  12. We still have great groomed cord. I expected lots more glacier crap but was very surprised to be riding soft non-sticky white stuff today until 2PM. NAX in the park. JADIP at JF
  13. what does this mean... have a free ticket on my jacket that you could use? You sure you want to go slumming it with the old man? I don't do black diamonds.
  14. Well it never works out the way its planned when you depend on other people so I didn't get to Blue this weekend. I spent the day teaching at JF. I WILL be at Blue this Wednesday.... by Timmy bus ... 11AM to 4PM so YES do look for me on Paradise making videos.
  15. Actually it is a nice video. This kid really is a never ever and by the last run of the day made it all the way down the hill without falling. The music is JEFF BECK YAN HAMMER FREEWAY JAM SO.... did anyone from PASR ever see me at all wearing the red jacket with PASR lettering? We got there at about 11, went through the rental process, got on the snow at noon, took a lunch break at 2, back out at 3 till close. We walked through E2000 about 2:30 during the awards so I might have seen or been seen by PASR people but nobody said anything to me. I STILL have never met a single PASR skier.
  16. I wasn't planning on being at JF this weekend but ended up there anyway to teach a niece how to snowboard. I thought the lesson would be done at Blue. We got on the snow at noon and by then it was 50 degrees and snowcone wet slush. VERY slow riding anywhere flat so absolutely perfect for the totally novice student. She never got hurt and lasted until the ropes closed the hill at 4 PM. JADIP at JF
  17. My intent in describing the surface was to make sure everyone could see that it's been groomed to perfection and that there is no glacier solid blue ice anywhere I was riding. Which seems almost impossible to believe considering the warm weather we had last week. So I figured a few simple video closeups of the snow would show what we have to ride on. It would help if SOMEONE ELSE ANYONE who actually skies at JF would do a trail report more often besides ME being the only daily TR.
  18. I wouldn't call it snowcone... or sticky granular. How would you describe it when its cold enough to be dry and not smear wet on the mitten? Whatever you want to call it..... It was a great ride all day long.
  19. I did a Mr Wizard type of science show for two years at the The Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philly until 2001. This video shows a close up of the surface on Exhibition. Its 3 inches deep of soft snow. Then the video shows a cross section of the snow at one of the pits around a ski lift pole. Note how the snow is about TWO feet deep and that the top half is very bright white hardpack and the very bottom layer 6 inches or so is BLUE , or dirty glacier ice. So every day when the groomers reshape that top layer they can do their magic and we get to ride on powder on cord.
  20. www.weather.com say BLAKESLEE PA will be 23 degrees at 4AM and 38 degrees at noon. If thats not a snow dream conditions come true then nothing is for the second week in March. FORGET what it looks like in your back yard in Philly. We are a snow capped peak here with cooler weather and longer winter.
  21. Weekend is plans are shaping up different than original plan.... It looks like it may be Saturday teaching at Blue... not Sunday. Then Sunday at JF.
  22. I got movies today..... closeups of the snow and cross sections of the hardpack to show the JF never ending winter secret recipe for snow. Mr. Wizard science show later after I edit the videos. 27 degrees at noon....great riding all day under blue skies. JADIP AT JF
  23. I'm not going to run around the mountain looking for you guys on Sunday so I figured I'd make it real easy for you to find me. Standard red ski patrol jacket with huge lettering on the back.
  24. Sunday I'll be wearing a red ski patrol jacket.
