I dunno Greg... I don't see any Dougs on the PASR team. Hmmm. contrubutes lots of posts, but wont contribute any points. In my eyes, if he is not on the team contributing points then you are well past him. http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=t...b&teamname=PASR BTW - I am betting that we can do quite well as a club in the Nastar ranking. I will be racing next week at BC if the course is open, or CB if it is open and timing works out between the 1/2 pipe comp I am sorry that some of our members love Nastar so much that it makes others downplay it equally as much Nice to have you aboard. That's a great memory point!

I think, but not sure, there is a second part of that, that goes... And I nailed the run, skied better than I have.......... Everyone loves to pick on the guy who is on top.. I found this in that same website: I don't like the looks of that reporting, doesn't Rahlves have far more renown? The reporting looks suspect to me.. Looks like unsupportive garbage to me.. Sports Illustrated must be asking for interviews and Bode or the US ski team or what ever keeps telling them to *()&^(* off.. or the writer doesn't like snow sports and would rather be following water polo..

It's all good.. I skied with this kid several times. I asked him to do me a favor and tell Steven to watch some of his snide behavior towards me. He said he would. He never talked to me after that ,until a post where he said I was punishing my kid by making him go to race training. Nipples spends all his spare time on AIM and is very in tune with what is going on at all the parks in our area, everyone of them from Wisp to Belleayre. When are you going to ski some place different or than Blue? We will be at Whitetail Saturday, back at CB on Sunday.

Personalities are what keep stuff interesting, otherwise they would all be USSA robots.. Props!! fire away..

An employee who wears his uniform on his days off and spreads lies about punishment of a kid, is what to you? They think that since they work for what they consider minimum wage, yet reap free $50 lift tickets for a week straight that they should entitled to what would be customer parking spots at any other place of business? Yeah I shouldn't stoop to that same level. My apologies... I don't park in handicap spots however, I will park in what was a handicap spot.. Camelbacks' parks camparitively, especially when you consider the size of the operation, do suck. Everyone who skis park knows that. I guess it wasn't worth mentioning the obvious, I shouldn't have done that. But hey, they are improving and I have said that many more times than I have been harsh, did you notice any of those comments? Steven and I last night were asked to rate the PA parks.. BC by far Second: Blue RT Third: BB Montage Fourth: CB Fifth: JF then there are the, I don't knows, we havent been there yet.. Off to Whitetail tonight

The single house was impulse buy. Parking is not so much an issue as was being chastised for parking by a CB employee who didn't know that he could have parked as close as I was which got me to thinking that I thought it was unusual to see a place of business fill the closest parking lot with employees. ...... and worthy of mentioning since I have heard from several other early birds how surprised they were that the first lot was filled. When I pointed out to them that most of those spots are CB employees.... Well you can imagine the reaction. I think so, but I am not sure and if they do it is probably from the club house. I doubt it is available on call. Plus I keep strange hours. North Ridge originally had its own parking but that was discontinued for some unknown reason.

I hope that all of you added PASR as your club team. DO IT - if you have done so yet. naaa you probably like that kind of stuff from guys. i already give you enough jollies. then that "official" handicap is wrong.. there are ways to have it corrected. If they continue to run 16's then it should be and can be adjusted to reflect a "bad pace set"

Must you always be so freakin condesending -- I know Nastar race results and have studied them profusely. I am saying that as a race day goes that the it is clear to me that the results (handicaps and medaling) are very different (higher) than other typical race days at many other resorts.. The scores (handicaps) appear to be disporportionatly high compared to other race days. You are not Racings gift to critiques, so please get off your high horse. If any of you doubt me, then go race at a different Nastar course and I will bet that your handicaps will be consistently lower.

There is a 12 and under group, that is the group he is in and the group he should be entered in.. regardless of skills level - I think that he will want to come out and hang with the BC Crew. He has fun with you guys. The competition doesn't matter so much if he wants to come out and just have fun. It's his choice. If he thinks the categories are lame and doesn't want to attend, then I will respect that. But I doubt that will be the case. He is very accustomed to competing with others many years older than he is. Whatever... But hey, i would like to see him win just one event, just one... His bio looks suspicious, he places second, third and fourth in just about everything..

If you ever plan on entering a park please read this

Interpertation: The BC park crew spent time fixing the the lip of a jump, only to have it immediatly trashed by someone riding over the top of it made nipples mad. -
Uhh- who is who? And seriously, there is something wrong with that pace set, when two 11-12 year olds are as fast as the pacesetter. I'd like to think that I know something about this stuff and something does not look right comparitively to typical Nastar races.. No platinums?? hmmm

I tend to agree. I don't believe for a minute that at the start of the CB season that anyone other than Volklskier would not take the job if they were told that they had to park at the back. On the other hand if a CB employee left CB because they were told to park in the back, i don't believe for one moment that they would have a problem filling the empty position. Funny how the story unfolds. The truth is that I told Steven that if he wants to compete in Freestyle then he will have to get other cross training. I am not going to spend the money hauling him around to different comps without skills that will help him succeed in a competition. Race team training dues, as are trampoline class (which he loves) are a small cost in comparison with the other expenses. If he wants to compete in the park, then he will get strength and drill training with the race team. Otherwise, he can just ski at CB's sucky little parks. Now that's not too much to ask is it? FYI - I posted for opinions at Newschoolers over the fall on this subject, the overwhelming majority of respondents were in favor of race training to compliment park skills (and visa versa).. There were a few like you though, the lazy, and the

Friends don't let friends ever even think about trying snow blading. It's just a silly marketing ploy to sell more suburbanites stuff that is stupid.
-
Damn - you got a answer for everything. oh my god... you are so perfect!!
-
Yeah - I believe that.. It was interesting to find out how much he says he is involved with development of his skis.. Where do his skis go after race day, I wonder is he on a new set every race or does he have favorite pairs for favorite runs/conditions.
-
I left the book up at the mountain, but I remember he saying how pleased he was with this new type of ski that he had to race on them. According to that book he was the only racer on a shaped ski, so therefore he was on superior equipment. Subsequently he nailed the JO -- BTW he carefully omitted the name of the coach who had DQ'd him the previous year from the JO's. Do you happen to know what that coaches name is? Another caveat is the nice things he says about atomic.. Of course that could just be an endorsement nod. He said something along the lines finally, a ski, I couldn't break.
-
No points until J2's means essentially, that a first year J4 spends 4 years training and preparing for a 100 points penalty race in PA by doing drills.
-
HAHAHA - why did you leave out the part that those K2's were the first shaped skis made, or so he touts in his book - as being the guy who introduced the shaped ski to racing. There was no competition that night, I think Skimom noticed the results that evening while the races were being posted - We didn't even really know that Jeff was there that night - I don't believe he had his speed suit then, maybe he did, I think that came later when we decided to go to the Nationals where everyone wheres one. Ski is right, I notice that a lot of the guys at BC, who seem serious are just wearing form fitting stuff. Ridges normal skiing attire is a parachute compared to a speed suit. There is middle of the road stuff.

Disparage Coaches? No! Question the reasoning behind training programs in relation to 11 year olds? Yes! You amaze me that me that you for all your intelligence, that you will stoop to the level of starting to attack on a personal level.... 3 days later, against my wishes for a private trampoline lesson and I made the coach aware of the face plant, just so you have the facts straight. Uhhhh... should I? Naaaaaaa - I won't mention that I push kids out of starting gates right onto their face. Back on topic, please, and moving forward. Tell me what I should pass onto Ridge's mother for advice on Saturdays J4 race at JF.. As a coach, what would you tell a parent to do in preparation. Would you tell the team to meet in a certain area. Would you tell them to bring parents to the start house or not. What can you offer to help a new racing parent out?
-
Thanks Mary, understood. A lot of freestyle events are just one or two categories however, I believe that that will change as time goes on. These competitions are in their infancy.
-
ahhh yep.. thats how a noobie racing parent is made to feel when they ask the question. "This is a race team, when are you going to put some gates out?" (well at least this one is).
-
I have often wondered why they don't.. The most plausible explanantion I have heard is if ski patrol (generally speaking) had their way, they would shut down the entire park, they cringe at every manuever as being unsafe. So the converse seems to happen, they go outa their way to avoid the park..
-
I do it for no other purpose than to rile you up You are to easy I concede, the USSA program is the best on earth and there is absolutely no room for improvement and nothing should ever be questioned because everyone who is an advocate of that program is right and everybody else is wrong...

My two cents worth.. Age divisions as in racing is what is fair. Typically the older you are, the more time on the slopes you have and subsequently the better your skills. Sure I think there should also be a "pro", expert or unlimited division, it should have the mad money and/or prizes. Pre-qualification, like proven invert should be a requirement for the expert division. I think I saw that there is a 12 and under division for the Showdown which is cool for the beginners and great for my kid, but the possibility of rearranging a 12 year old into an expert division doesn't seem right. I visualize in the future, 4 age groups as being an ideal format - then male and female, skier and rider. I know it makes for too much prize distribution, but so what? if the prizes are simple swag or medals, the comps are fun and give a chance for everyone to come out and hang together. 12 and under 13 - 16 yrs old 17 and over Pro or Unlimited. Just my opinion.
-
Thats what I have him do. We keep switching things up, keeping some things consistent while changing others. If I could add notes to each race result, it would be really cool. 2 hours on a Nastar course like at BC allow 10-12 runs. At some point all the stops are pulled and there is always a marked improvement. Yes you are! Wheres the challenge in that? I suck! Several people mentioned after my Dew run at CB they thought I was going to "buy it" after my run. That course is as easy as it gets and I barely made it. It was UGLY! Probably not a good idea mom, we will never hear the end of the whining about how he was beat because someone else was wearing a speedsuit and he wasn't.
