  1. steeze will be there.... I think he has the inside scoops....
  2. How far are you from Belleayre, I'm Thinking Belleayre Saturday, then Greek sunday........
  3. Steeze, Ridge and I will be there all day - Steeze will be competing in the rail jam at 4:30
  4. UGGGHHhh - the wound hasn't healed yet. Kinda a sore subject for me. But I guess I have an obligation. I was surprised to learn some things about marketing and manufacturing and the representations of sidecuts this summer. They use the "greater than" and "lesser than sign" frequently on product ratings and then there are those who don't do that. I noticed some discrepancies and ...... Ughhhhh I don't have much nice to say............. Want to be sure of the (true) radius sidecut on your skis or board? THEN you Better do the calculating yourself, is all I can say. When a particular Ski Line is represented as Radius = 14 meter at 140 cm don't assume that applies to the 140 cm ski you just bought. That MAY only apply to the widest points of the tip and tail and the ski might acutally be 155 cm tip to tail.. Or it might only apply to that particular ski, the radius will change (obviously) if the tips and tail widths are the same at different lengths hence the < or> sign. Measure your skis at the points specified above, use the calculator and then compare the number to what is prinited on your ski or literature. You might be surprised!! And the web site calculator: http://www.math.chalmers.se/~olahe/Fri/skiradius.html Turning Radius is can be something entirely different than a sidecut radius: When a ski is turned on edge and flexed until the entire edge touches a flat plane. Theoretically, the side cut radius and the "pure" carve radius should be the same. It may differ a bit, dependent upon the taper in the ski. The USSA uses the width at tip, mid-section, and tail to calculate the radius: 1) Call "W" the narrowest measurement, typically near the mid section. 2) Call "L1" the length from tip to where W was measured. 3) Call "L2" the length from the tail to where W was measured. 4) Call "S" the width of the tip at the contact point. Estimate the tip contact point at (.2*L1 ) back from the tip, measure the width of the tip there. 5) Call "W" the width of the tail at the contact point. Estimate the tail contact point at (.1*L2) forward of the tail, measure the width of the tail there. 6) Call L the contact length estimated as (.8*L1) + (.9*L2) Then the turning radius can be calculated as: R = (L^2)/(2000*(S + H - 2*W))
  5. It was good summer homework thanks for bringing it back up. That whole radius sidecut thing was an very enlightening thing for me in relation to EBay and educating a somewhat clueless 10k + seller on careless misrepresentations. HA!!
  6. Thanks for the info Johnny.. Keep your posts updated as you have time.
  7. Hmmmm - could be, my info may have only been related to Pocono Mountain. The kid is off the hook this year. It was funny to watch him helping customers in the Ski Bum last night. "Hello? Ski Bum.... Nipples here, Can I help you?" His enthusiasm for the sport is infectuous!!
  8. Hey Ski4Food!! Thanks for the post, glad to see you made it online. With the things that you and Kevin told us, both at BC and at The Washington Expo, Greek Peak is definitly on our list to check out. Screw the website, meeting you guys and getting the inside info was very helpful. Keep posting!! Ive been there. PASR has friends in the sales department! Message Ski4food if you are planning to head up We are leaving for CB friday night and Belleayre the following morning. We pass by your house every time we go skiing! WORD!!!! GREAT ANSWER!!
  9. Now there is a potential Mountain statistic to look at that would help sove the dbate about crowds. Simply divide the acreage in the uphill hourly capacity and divide that by 10 (6 minutes average per down hill run) the higher the "number" the more likely it will be crowded.
  10. so when will you be getting some?
  11. I just noticed that the rail jam starts at 4:30pm .. ugh.... Steeze, didn't you get some NS and AIM names? Find out what the details are will ya?
  12. It's a tough thing to manage, we went to 3 preseason rails jams so far and between skiers and riders, it complicates the order of drop-ins. Hopefully they have some experience. It probably will be a simple box with minimal gap. What I heard them say is that it will be a 2 hour open practice, then an elimination and then a final.
  13. The forecast looks promising... it's just up to staff and flipping a switch
  14. IF WE GO - we will be leaving from tannersville at about 5AM!!! I'll take 209 north up. I have one, maybe 2 seats open. No promises at this point. I might add, the crowds might be a little off the hook. Word gets out quickly.
  15. Very likely we will be there unless somewhere else closer opens up.
  16. HEY!!! THATS my job!!! I am number one gaper!!! - I get more enjoyment watching others than you do! First impressions are lasting ones. My first day at Hunter end of season last year, I had a run in with a boarder jumping out on slope in front of me. Call it coincidence, but I have skied alot of places and had a lot of close calls, but I have never ever been "called out" quite like that. I would like to see Hunter again... but that whole image of a guy on his knees screaming expletives because he didn't look up the hill before entering out on it is burned into my memory of that day makes me think twice.
  17. He has that, aforementioned effect on bazillions of posters at various message boards. No worries, no biggies!! Future reference..... 999 is a very personable, friendly and helpful, albeit he seems a bit aloof on the slopes the 2 times I have met him. I think he is one of those real sensitive types who likes to appear to be a big tough guy You do have your ways ... Strong possibility we will be there for the rail jam on Saturday. I heard some whispers of places south of us opening. I need to check it out.

    Snow at CB

3 hours from CB - it is like 4 1/2 from Kennett Square, - from Roundtop, I would estimate 4-5 hour range.
  19. If you blow it up you can make out the 4x8 sheets of plastic
  20. Thats inderstandable but what was up with on at 10:30 off at 2 pm? Where are you going next weekend?
  21. steeze forgot his camera and I forgot to remind him to bring it. I did get bring a disposable I got a pic of you an your brother. I'll get them up soon
  22. CAUSE They are wimps!!! hahahahahaaaa first on and last off - Steeze nearly got his ticket clipped. I relearned how to ski on my old very old first generation shaped skis. Ridge layed down massive carves all day and was nailing 180's by the end of the day.. I met alot of the Bellayre park crew - Shawnees' very own parkbuilder and brother was there.. I must admit the day far exceeded my expectations!! We may go back for the rail jam next saturday if nothing else is open. Lift poles and chairs have officialy been baptized
  23. CB didn't blow last night, I would imagine that the other night was a test run??? It's 4am and definitly cold enough to blow!!
  24. Uh huh... then you buy 2 pairs "lust like BOde has" and get stuck with them cause your kid doesn't like them..
  25. I recently read something along the same lines. Bodes atomics aren't really Atomics, they are something that is custom made with an Atomic graphic.. or something like that.
