Nothing better than new skis! Especially when you have been renting. You are going to love them and wonder why you didn't buy something last season!! Take care of them, keep em waxed and the edges sharp and they will take care of you!

Yeah - he grudgingly will be at CB a lot. But you will see us at other mountains frequently too. I got on a kick with him this weekend of "what is the matter with be able to do both well". I suggested that if any racers wants to talk smack about the Park or visa versa, that he have the skills to back up the prevalent trash talk that I so often see. Truthfully though. He is shooting for the Next Snow Competition in Killington and he has to be well versed in gates, moguls, slopestyle, and big air, coupled with an outgoing quirky personality.

I wanted to change my profile and list my home mountain in the latin name for a camel and came across that description. I saw correlations that were too funny.

Ski999 and Sib! Thank you very much for your insights and experiences, that gives me a lot to think about. My knee-jerk reactions and subsequent posts are exactly that. Bare with me, while I get the rants outa my system and then, hopefully, refocus the energies towards something more productive and positive.

Camels are found in the East, (POCONOS) and are of two kinds: Bactrian, with two humps, (CAMELBACK) and Arabian, with one hump.(BLUE) Both kinds are like oxen in having no teeth in the upper jaw. (THEY CANT SAY THANK YOU) They live fifty to one hundred years, but are vulnerable to rabies. (THAT EXPLAINS STRANGE BEHAVIOR) They are used to carry burdens; (CAMELBEACH) they will refuse to carry more than the regulation load. (CAMELBACK ALPINE TEAM) They are also used in battles,(IRATE PARENTS) but are slower than horses, for which they have an inate hatred. (JEALOUSY) They can travel four days without water(LIMITED SNOW MAKING) when they find water they drink to quench their thirst (JUST ENOUGH TO OPEN A TRAIL)and to provide for the future, first stirring up the water with their fore feet. (HOW PROPHETIC IS THAT?) Their strength is increased by denying them sexual intercourse; (NOW I UNDERSTAND )for this reason both males and females intended for war are gelded. (WHICH EXPLAINS THEIR AWARDS FOR CONGENEALITY)

Volunteers begging for more volunteers while the race director explains why certain things couldn't be done because it was too expensive. We were told that we were expected to pay for (3) $20 vouchers to the Brewery. Resell them or give them away. The Cat team makes $4 a peice. Where is the CB cafeteria in that? A simple thank-you showing support would be common place expectation. One lousy bill board for the season would pay for all the FIS fencing. These guys are selling $1 dollar pins to try and raise chump change that could be paid in the blink of an eye compared to other expenditures. Would CB care if the CAT team just up and left? Probably not.. Maybe I have a lot to learn - It is my opinion that it just doesn't seem right. It is my opinion that there is no support because they know that the racers will raise thier own revenue and they get tickets plus plus plus.. Hey - its a business for them.. Right? How about, I expect a 5% kickback to finish funding PASEF consider it a group season pass discount!! Take one billboard and buy everyone Ski jackets. that will get tons more exposure right to the demographic they should be hitting in my opinion. I could go on, but I won't. We have a quarter of a trail and a cell block to meet in. I have been to 3 events since the close of last season. The general managers were in attendance at all of those events which were miniscule in revenue generation comparitively. Yeah - A simple thanks or nod of appreciation would have satisfied me. At least I wouldn't be so irked. Ok - I'm done with that rant for now.

Thanks for the update Springhill!!

No - I read the flyer this weekend. parking at the stevenson and private menu and eating area along with a slightly earlier lift were all that they were offering for $200 - The boys will both be out early with the CAT team. We don't care about private dining. And since we will be getting there early, parking is not an issue. The real turn-off was at the end of the flyer they said they had private lockers for another $150 which I wouldn't use because of needing to regularly wax. I personally don't see the value in it. I hate stopping during the day. I guess if I skied every single day or if I was retired, I might enjoy the little bit of convienence.

Only gate training at this time, but who knows, someone has to start it up somewhere - it all starts with a desire to GIT-R DUN!!

I really like it. I like especially learning and then grinding the facts I learned about Pep and Tanner Hall being room mates at a racing academy. Did you you see the ad for the Back9 Mini Golf Invitational? Now that is progression!! Back9 Mini Golf

ahhhhh - not to razz ya too much but dads say WORK! Get warmed up! GO!! your gonna be late! What are you whining about? It's all down hill, now GO!!
-
Drive? makes his lazy a$$ walk!!! or better yet, run!!! Run Forest Run!!
-
I don't see the value in it. But I imagine there are plenty of people willing to shell out bucks to sit in a lodge and tell everyone at home they went skiing!!
-
Ok - I tried some diplomacy in the form of questions to general users of that board. http://ridecamelback.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=22153#22153

Gus was there, and props to him for suggesting that steeze could be the start of a FS team. I am new to the dynamics of all of this, but I also feel strongly that I come into all this with a fresh viewpoint and the confidence to see....... ah... nevermind..
-
There will never be a FS team at CB with out joining the CAT team - IMO!! Come on out, learn some race skills and then learn to really "kill" the park.
-
The CAT team now has one member whose focus is primarily in the park. It is well know that most Pro Park skiers have a racing background. It may be coincidence, but I think not. SO with that, it could be possible to form a team. The race director said so. Join the CAT team if you can, and help us be the start of something.
-
Actually - you know...... talk about some group rate negotiation. hmmmmm - well there is next year.

Could one of the Administration start a new thread please, Title it however you see fit. I would like to hear from racers at other mountains to see if this kind of thing is common place:rock I'll add to my original posting requesting their patronage soon enough... Very cool - it made it feel like the season has officially started for us. Steezemachine is now a member of the CAT team too. He is pumped and has the motivation to get an official FS Team possibly started, if he doesnt get kicked off the team for being incorrigible first There was a detailed mailing about it. You should have got it. It is a joke in my opinion. But I dunno, I am sure that some will see value in it. I personally don't.

HEY CB --- Are you listening????? 50 CAT team racers represented at one 2 hour meeting on sunday= minimum of 75k in family passes and added support sitting in that room and management doesn't have the decency to show up and say thanks.. WHats up with that? Sorry, I had to jump on your wagon!!!

aka, chicken hawk... I thought this was an interesting quote from Josh Berman the Level One freestyle film guy.. BH: what is your favorite to do? It?s your dream set up. JB: lol, ummmmm? BH: (and yes it does come with the hot tub and Swedish bikini models) JB: ok, shooting a super dope, freshly groomed Nastar course with Johnny Moseley, Bode Miller, and Alberto Tomba in Sunday River, ME. After they kill it, Simon Dumont rolls up in his Caddy, and we all go party it up with him and his ladies back in Bethel, then play laser tag at the arcade. That would be ideal.
-
Yeah - It was a last minute idea that Steeze join the CAT team for the learning some more carving and control skills. Since the CAT team doesn't have riders.. You gotta to do the USASA (acronym?) to race boards. Could be the start of something!! Won't know until we try...

We were at 3 shops this weekend and they all have the new rag SKEEZE - EDIT: Here is the description of the magazine. "SKEEZE" - The new magazine from K2 Tired of the status quo at the magazine rack lately? Well apparently K2 was. For the 2005/2006 season they've created a 96 page full featured mag/brochure titled "K2 Skeeze" intended for the core. "We feel like there is an huge void when it comes to magazines that speak to the 12 to 24 skiers of our sport. This comes at a time where the future of twin tip skiing has never been brighter. So, why isn't anyone speaking directly to this demographic at such a pivotal time in the evolution of skiing? Since no one else appears to be doing anything about it, we decided to take it upon ourselves to produce a magazine that is a true reflection of the sport, expressed through the words, views and thoughts of the athletes." explains K2's Mike Gutt. K2 wasn't alone on this mission, they enlisted the help of their athletes, Micah Abrams of FREEZE fame, and the boys over at Nemo Design. BTW - I really, really like my krypton cross.. I think it is a foot and ankle shape thing.

Add a little more to add - steeze is the first official member of the CAT freestyle Team!! Not to steal any of Blue Mtn's Freeride Program - but if you "ski" at CB regularly, why not inquire with me?...... This is all real informal as off now.
