Blue Mountain (PA) Freeride Ski Program - NEW!!
Papasteeze replied to skier150's topic in General Chat
The class gets ski school status too? Lift line priority? thats worth $5 per hour by itself! When checking about a variable entry for us, mention that you could overbook the slots - that worked for me convincing the gym why I needed a different rate for tramp class. -

Interesting, I didn't notice that... Yeah - it wouldn't surprise me if skiing comes more back in vogue and riding starts fading some.. but I won't start the debate here.. oh no... -
Blue Mountain (PA) Freeride Ski Program - NEW!!
Papasteeze replied to skier150's topic in General Chat
Welcome Skier150! We will be checking out the program for sure. I know it might complicate things but can you check into a limited or pro-rated program, like 10 variable sessions within that 10 week program? CB will be our home mountain next year due to one boy who races on the CAT team - the other boy (steezemachine) is at the mercy of his parents carting him back and forth and other competions or events. At what size will you limit the class to? -
I have been a fan of Nestors for my kids going on 6 years now however, not so much a fan for me. Who up there should I ask for?
-
I seriously considered the surefoot thing from you. not the thing for me, maybe Ridge. I need the whole package. Yeah I thought about new liners but I have beat the Dalbello to hey and back. Besides, for all the gear I bought last season, I didn't get me anything and I do have a Birthday coming up and the GF knows thats what I want.
-
Crap shoot it is, no doubt. I too have all kinds of stuff stuffed in the boot. I am hoping I am smarter now. yeah right.. My linings are shot it may not be the number of outings but the number of hours. we are first on - last off kind of skiers. The linings are compressed and the fabric is worn - I noticed that my feet got a lot colder this year, but thats probably the high blood pressure, poor circulation, getting older thing.. I listened to the owner of Salter's speak once, I think I still have his literature. His concepts seem sound, its just that I have heard good and bad. I am also going to take a hard look at the soft boot tonight..
-
Time for new boots - the linings in my Dabellas after 100+ days are compressed and feel shot! Every pair of boots I have had - I or a shop or both have added inserts, ground plastic and added padding to make them fit "right". I thought I found the boot for me a couple of weeks ago until I trudged around the store for an hour.... This time, I am thinking shell and a custom liner molded specfically to my foot and ankle or modifying a "soft" boot. Remember, I am an all mountain skier, including standing around not skiing, just watching type of skier. My questions are: Who do you reccomend for custom work. How much should I expect to pay. Can those electric warmer things be incorporated?

The N'Ridge lease agreement is a really different business model. What I don't know is if that land is leased from the state or county. My concern would be a future forced sale of the ground to the individual homeowners. I haven't read the fine print yet.

I saw an interesting comment that this local guy will probably buy it and flip to one of the big guys regardless of his roots. Ski999 makes a good point about previous owners dumping all the money for improvements and then selling it. Is the time to campaign for suggested improvements now? Hmmmmm. EDITED 6-16-05 12:26am Late night orniness .. I just flamed the CB MB --- Should I delete it or should I guage the reaction? This is what I wrote: Camelback Sold What will this mean for the future of Camelback? Will the Terrain Park finally get some attention to bring it up to the caliber of other mountains in our area? What about the race program - will it remain the same? The talk is the new owner, while local, will simply flip it to one of the big guys in a season or two, that the recent improvements are taxing the profitibility. That there will likely be NO improvements next season or ideas implemented. Does the new owner have any new ideas or plans that they would like to share with the general public of this board who check in regularly because CB is thier home mountain? Since this is a public board - I sure the mods will report glowingly if they do at all, its just that my family just bought a home at North Ridge with the expectation of spending all of our discretionary time and money this coming winter at Camelback. We expectED to participate and support CB to the nth degree. As an avid skiing enthusiast leading a brood of talented and vocal skiers. I respectfully request a response. To not respond in some fashion will also be a response. Thanks, Rob Larick

Dammit dude..... I'm going to say anyway - I hope they improve the park! I hope they recognize PASR. I hope they open more trails. I hope continue to support the race program. How does the North Ridge property factor into this?
-
I got this tip recently and thought I would share. If you know of any other links to videos or DVD's post them here! This is from the Canandian Ski Team http://www.snowpro.com/cscf/cscftv/index.htm

Good idea! there are alot of other mountains, errrrrr..... hills like Spring, Alpine, Eagle Rock etc..

We went to RT (roundtop) twice for competitions last year. It has a very good park with a large following of year around active die-hard freestylers. Matter of fact the only local kids that Steezemachine has met that are going to camp this summer are from RT. It also has Nastar and regular weekend recreational ski races. I think Rountop should be added!!!

Which Dave is head of sales and marketing? I saw a rather detailed report on the Travel Channel last night about camelbeach. The funny thing was that the other parks were so much larger, yet CB got all the air time..

I have been talking to a guy named Chris Allen - he seems to have his heart into next years program. I have asked him twice now to sign in over here and make announcements. I believe he will soon. His email is: skier109@ptd.net here are his qualificaitons I am the head of the program as well as a coach. I spent the past 2 season training with PSIA for my Freeride accreditation. I am also PSIA and AASI nationally certified. I spent most of last season petitioning the management to let us start this program. I got the final approval the last day Blue was open this season. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks

I wondered about that, the locations of the other bidders are from far away. I think I really ticked off some woman named Pam in England
-
Yeah accept those look brand spanking new - I started the bidding at $5 I can't belive how high they have gotten already.. Seems to me that unless some new grass ski floods the market that they will retain thier value. Edit: BTW the last 3 sets of Rollkas have gone for over $155 each with shipping as much as $30 on top of that...
-
Wow!!! its life size!! Its gigantic!!! it...... needs to be scaled down so we can see it
-
I appreciate knowing that, thanks. I still might get them and if they are really problematic then ebay looks like the place to get rid of stuff.. Plus I think I found an untapped market over at newschoolers. 1 pair of rollkas has three cleats that are broken - the ski is still functions fine though. 2 more are in the mail - and I thought I might take a stab at at the set that is on ebay now. We will have to team up with you at some point this summer!! I sent an email too, as I was clicking the send button - I got to thinking that htey may not read english - I'll try to translate in german. My question was for 100lb 5foot kid, what length would they reccomend.. Any ideas?
-
ah yep, super pricey - I guess with modern parts and it looks like he has been making them for awhile.... Anyone want some overpriced antique Rollkas? Hmmmm wonder what I can sell them for on ebay?
-
Finally - I found brand new grass skis that can be ordered - albeit from half way around the world http://www.grasski.com/
-
ahhhhh if it breaks even and all i ever got out of it was some cool grass skis then it would be worth it. I can watch them getting sold on ebay 20 years later. That has some value
